Also I was told a decent way to get gold without multiboxing is to sell broken and cracked gems to other players via setting up a stall (which remains active even when your offline i believe). The gems themselves drop from the mazes as far as I can tell.

After about 10 hours of afk whacking the tree of fortune these are the results. On top of that I got about 7k of raw gold from opening the packets.

Big hits were the letter cards that sell for 10k each. Aside from that the travel tickets at the top sell for 250 and the various food has values around 20-250.

I don't know if any of this has ingame use beyond vendoring but if you can leave your client open when you're not playing then might as well do this I guess.. Maybe there are better ways of making money that make this irrelevant.

Might've found the next grinding spot for quite a few levels. Undead Warriors, level 52, 2000 health, 2335 base EXP. At level 44, In this server, they give me 4670 EXP (likely suffering from a penalty due to level difference). They aggro and hurt a lot, but they're melee and there don't seem to be many other monsters mixed in.

They're found at 530, 1810 in Ascaron, Chaldea Tundra. That's far, far to the north-west of Argent Town, but you can go to the mines and, through a chain of teleports, reach the Chaldea area, so it's a very reasonable walk.

I've seen one whole player outside of us, everyone is on the PKO server which wasn't chosen due to forcing google/fb login.

It's a really jank cheap looking grindcore MMO. The biggest pro is it promotes grouping, mobs are a PITA to solo. Somehow we landed on a decent server so progression feels real and little upgrades help a lot. It was nice helping each other finish our job quests.

Haven't seen much similarities to RO other than "grinding on a map" to progress. Gameplay feels different, quests are hub based but also largely useless. Weapons/customization appears much simpler but I haven't got the chance to try them because poor.

Game starts out kinda weak but once you unlock some skills and get used to how things work partying starts to get kinda fun. That is if you like party grinding. It does have some of that RO flavor. Monsters have different stats and flavors to them. Zones remind me of RO somewhat. Big difference is partying is heavily favored over soloing.

It's kinda jank in terms of UI and what else you expect from these old games. The classes and skills could be more interesting. Bunch of systems like upgrading items and crafting I haven't been able to get into yet. Sailing seems kinda pointless. It's the only "pirate" aspect of this game.

Overall it's a lot better than the initial impression I had on the first day of playing on this server but it's kinda growing on me. It does leave you with some of that feel that it could've been a lot better game with a little more work put into it. Maybe they ran out of budget or something.

The gear from these boxes is untradable once opened, if you find one trade the box itself. Unsealing them seems kind of a hassle too so maybe not worth it at all.

Sharing my method to farm money. Essentially, you have to kill mini-bosses for gear: sadly it depends on their 30-minutes re-spawn time, so really only one of us can do it at a time.
Here's the (I think optimal) order to do them in from each city, with correct coordinates (the ones I found on databases were usually imprecise):

There is a haven practically right next to Berserk Mad Boar, I believe it's best to register your spawn point there, and do these in reverse.

The whole trip should take 20-25 minutes, so you still have some free time. Deep Blue isn't really worth it honestly, so you can skip that, but you'll have even more down time.

There is a shop in town right now, selling 15-minutes EXP berries for 10k each. There's still many on sale, but I bought a whole lot of them for the broke-ass anons or for those who miss the sale.
Also, the same shop was practically giving away 2 pieces of the same armor for Crusader, and a sword+shield for Champion. They seemed powerful, so I bought all 4, I'll give them to the respective anons.

Whats the final thoughts on this game as it wraps up? Did people quit too soon?

it's okay. Has some decent party play but otherwise pretty boring.
I found progression to be pretty lacking, though we did receive a lot of freebies. However, it seems that to get effective gear you had to do the mazes. And to do the mazes reasonably, you had to get the gear you can get from the mazes. Which puts you in a catch 22. The main thing then to farm are the gems. While level 1 gems seem nothing outstanding, level 5 gems give you about 20 levels of stats. And you can slot multiple in all pieces of gear so they are actually fairly crucial if you want to progress. Now this wouldn't be so bad if not for the fact that all of them have at most a 1% chance drop and more often less than a 1% chance drop from the time limited mazes(every 3 hours) and chaos argent(every 8 hours). Outside of those scheduled times you can't farm for them which means you can't really progress. Did I mention you need 16 level 1 gems at these low rates to make one level 5 gem? And you also need a different low rate gem (and level those as well) to even socket them? and you need to do this 2-3 times per piece of equipment?
Additionally since the lower level mazes get locked out you need multiple chars to farm those mazes (and you can lock exp with the convenient cash shop item) so even more gems to forge.

The worst part however is the optimal method to farm gold, as well as the only method to farm pet stuff. You see the game has this mentor-disciple system where each disciple gets 200k gold at level 41. Additionally the mentor gets a bunch of rep which they can use to get stuff from the award center which includes pet stamina and leveling items, exp berries, drop rate berries, and various other items. But naturally since there is no playerbase (though even if there was one) the best thing to do is create 4 extra accounts and level them yourself to reap 1M+ gold and rep as well as 4 exp berries and 400 fairy coins. No normal method in game comes close. You can farm drops all you like and make a few several thousand. Millions are out of the question. (and you will need millions when forging gems). There is straight up no other way to get rep so you're forced to do this if you want to level your fairy or want those drop rate berries.

Agreed. Classes have too few skills and you pretty much get access to them instantly as you get the class unlocked which means the only thing you do after 40 is put more points into those skills. My choice of crusader had a couple skills that were so bad you were actively harming your build if you put points into them which didn't help the limited skill pool.

Gearing systems were so heavily end-loaded that we didn't really get to play around with refining or gems so our progression amounted to minor gear upgrades every 5 levels. Accessories cost so much money that we couldn't afford them without gibs from the locals.

As far as generic korean grinders go the party play in this one was above average and honestly carried the whole experience. The monsters were varied with different strengths in their stats and even some differing behavior which led to some decision making in what to grind on. Monster variety gave me little bit of that Ragnarok feel. Not as well done as it is in Ragnarok but much better than most korean grinders. The maps are large and are decent. Map art style also reminded me of RO even if the map design in terms of gameplay is quite different.

Overall my expectations were so low that I considered not playing before we started which made it a rather pleasant surprise to find out there was some fun to be had in it.

I think people quit too soon, likely due to the shock of the server situation, and horrible first impression the game makes, with its tiny resolution and obnoxious UI (though the hex edit fixed that).
As others pointed out, party play is the highlight of the game. With everyone getting full EXP, there is no reason not to form a party whenever possible. Each class functions differently, bringing something that others can't. It was quite satisfying to get together and blast through enemies, even becoming able to explore areas with level ??? enemies.

Other than that, however, there isn't much to be praised. Most issues have already been pointed out, but I'd like to add a couple.
Sailing between places takes forever, and your boat being bound to the harbor you parked it at is outrageous.
Crafting is extremely tedious and simply not worth it. To craft an item, you need its blueprint. You can get "unidentified" blueprints at 1-5% drop rate, and, upon identifying it, you have to be lucky that it's the one you wanted. Then, you need the materials, a number of fairy coins, a fairy with a crafting skill, and of course, the proper crafting skill yourself. For something like a level 20 weapon, you'll need multiple items that drop with a 3% chance from chests that only spawn every 8 hours. On top of that, crafting has a chance to fail.

Honestly, I think it's terrible, but I'd probably put this above RIFT.

One of the shops in Argent now has these insane things on sale. I bought the cheapest one and no, you can't just equip it.
I believe you have to use "apparel fusion" from the blacksmith in Shaitan to merge them into your gear, and it seems you also need fusion scrolls you get from Swamp/Forsaken City, and maybe more stuff too... Whatever this is, though, it sure sounds strong.

We seem to be in agreement that we've hit the point where, to progress further, you'd have to embark on a massive grind and nobody cares to do that, especially with our time in this game ending soon.

I still have the refining gem I got, and I imagine others have some too. Shall we gift them to Gordo? He helped us a lot, seems to be the only active player in the server, and we can't answer his wish of continuing to play the game.

The "main grind party" was composed of 9 people when the game's party cap was 5. People rotated in as they were available and everyone who actively played got over level 50.

I used the "Ticket to Heaven" a mud monster from Dark Swamp dropped a few days ago, when I was there with a fellow anon. You get to see the Goddess herself, but there's not much to do, it appears to be how you access certain end-game features.
