This is an ongoing project from a group of anons dedicated to playing through dead MMOs.

The rules so far go as follows:

Nyice list. I'd be happy to play almost any of these. Least inclined to play Rose/Priston Tale even though I do want to get to them at some point. Just feel like the previous games feel too similar. Meridian59 doesn't look like something I'd enjoy, but I could be happily mistaken. Hoping for Loli Minecraft, Maplestory clone and Commie WoW for a change of pace. Not a huge DB fan, but the game doesn't look bad at all either, mite b. cool for the shitposting.

The building is nice but I don't remember the gameplay being anything special.

you'd probably only need to do the shuffling once for both lists. so anytime after week 3 elims but before voting on a game for list 1 (week 5) should be fine

If you're ok with shuffling the bottom end of the list then do you still need two lists? You can save yourself some effort.

I wouldn't say it's popular but it had more positive research(a single trailer) posted in the last few threads. The other games on the list are just negative posts like: Rose Online is a game made by hackers and flagged by 99% of anti-virus software, Monster Hunter is just a lobby game with more grinding than the real games, and DO NOT play DBO this time. Islet was already up 4 votes before someone said it's just a mobile game without any kind of party or guild system in it.

Personally I was gonna vote for Islet, saw it winning by a landslide even moments before the final result, and thought there'd be no need.

Double-checked the potential servers for Islet Online, and it looks like the only one which exists is indeed the standard Steam client:

Testing it for literally ~5 minutes to make sure it works, and it loaded just fine on my PC. Even goes up to 4k if you set fullscreen in the options.
Looks like the main game runs off the "Global Server", but you can apparently make Local Servers if you want once you're out of the tutorial. There's also what looks to be Morrowind-style attribute progression. Jump more to start jumping better, use axes to get better at using axes, etc.

Interestingly, there's also a Creative Mode variant available as DLC for the main game, functioning as you would expect:

You can't use your main Islet Online characters in this mode, but you're given maximum stats/resources on everything, since it's just a creative sandbox. Mite b cool as something to spice-up the final few days of the second week.

This could be something special. Or we could get screwed-over by mobage energy mechanics if this game leans too hard into them, since it's pretty clearly a mobile title ported to PC. We'll have to see.

You have CRAZY range when gathering resources, by the looks of it, so it isn't necessary to run right up to objects you're wanting to harvest things.

Well! A nice night, this one was.
Spent over ~6 hours in and around the starting tutorial lodge, plus various instances of player housing. Gathering, refining, chatting, making storage chests to alleviate inventory concerns, nearly starving to death in the process...
The fact that practically every conceivable action had some sort of leveling component made progress feel satisfyingly steady throughout the early goings, even if I probably didn't accomplish much in the grand scheme of things. No idea what kind of legs this title might have as a multi-week venture, but for a night's lark, it was pretty dang fun.
Thanks for the ride, lads. Hopefully I can catch a good few more sessions of it during its run!

so the map on the MMOD house at base specs is 64x64 and starts at 100 height with the ceiling at 580 height, with clouds being at around 300~ height or something, i cleared the trees and some of the green weed spawners around the house so we can make a bigger house at some point, but thinking about what to plan for next

it looks like you can also have like 100 animals, so giving them some space would be nice. other random ideas, a river and/or lake, an area with lots of flowers and trees, a dedicated farm area/greenhouse, expanding the house upwards for rooms & crafting stations and so on

How does gathering/crafting in this game look so far? Will it be better if we split into gatherers and crafters, or is there no problem doing both on one character?
I know it's extremely early for that, but has anyone figured out whether focusing on one skill to level it high (like tool crafting) will be necessary for later game?

Some minor changes:
I want to try an Auto-Banishment system.
The idea is to have the lists refresh automatically without the need for additional votes by the adventurers (that's you!).

The bottom 4 games in each eliminations round (number subject to change), according to the rcv123 tiebreaker values, will be removed from the games list and get replaced by randomly drawn titles from the suggested games list. The BANISHED games will move back to the suggested games list, or maybe even to a seperate Banishment Bench, to keep things tidy.
To facilitate a more meaningful tie-breaker score, the number of rankings during elims is increased to up to 12. You're welcome to rank as many or as few titles as you'd like.

To give an example with the game 30 elimination results: the lowest tie-breaker scores are Cabal Online (0.04), Conquer 2.0 (0.20), Forsaken World (0.03) and Shaiya (0.27).
These would be BANISHED.

A list randomizer roll on random.org with all the pending games results in the following games being added in their stead:

All I can really remember about it is you need to grind the starting area until you are level 10-20 or so, then you can upgrade to the class you want. Grinding takes a while, and it's common to have a mob wander over and start smacking you while you are dealing with a mob. IIRC, some guy with a [Myg0t] tag was selling teleporter scrolls to the first town in the starting zone. They were effectively worthless if you weren't already level 10-20, and getting back to the starting zone where enemies are easier would be a bitch if you teleported too soon. Good times.

You will not be able to play the game together much as the first 15 levels are tied behind a "tutorial" zone that forces single player scenarios to progress through the story. There is an option to escape and go to your races first area, but this then locks your progress behind returning to the starter area eventually. Game is unstable, server wont log in sometimes no matter what you do, it just decided FUCK YOU, so you need to go password reset from the website just to get around it, or wait a weekly reset and try again. If AoC wins I suggest being ready with a backup game.

New Moon seems like the pick, having done some research myself. HeeHo World is a meme server. Admin is a turbo autist who gets really insecure about other private servers, or even how you promote his server. Wouldn't put it past the guy to have a meltdown after seeing 10+ new people join out of nowhere. Apparently it's buggier than other servers and the custom demon variants are all Jack Frost recolors.

There's also New Order, a Russian server that's been around for a bit.

Some things that aren't covered by these guides:

Gender affects your skill/casting speeds and damage.
>Male - High damage output, Slow cooldowns
>Female - Low damage output, Fast cooldowns
Both Damage and Cooldowns have a cap, its easier to reach the damage cap (through proper use of expertise points) than cooldowns (difficult to obtain gear sets, cash shop items etc.)

Expertise points have a limit
This is where you can royally brick yourself as the alternative is to reset all of your points and start that lengthy process of leveling your skills all over again. Pay very close attention to the skills that you need and simply stick with them.

Alignment
Dialog decisions determine whether you are Law, Chaos or Neutral with the first decision being whether or not you hand over your freshly caught Pixie during the Tutorial. (yes, you can brick yourself 3 minutes into the game lmao)

Quest chains
There are some very early quests that affect later ones that can be missed, don't ignore NPCs that are found around the map. Treat this MMORPG like any other JRPG single player game.
