How come there isn't a thread for one of the best racing games of all time? Both versions can be played online too!
>Crash Team Racing (1999)
1) Get a Playstation BIOS file (Preferably SCPH-7501) and an original US CTR dump image from somewhere
2) Download Launcher from https://www.online-ctr.com/ and follow instructions
3) Configure your controls (or click automatic mapping when it prompts you)
4) Pick a server and room (or make a private one using your IP)
5) Share the info and wait for anons to join
As simple as that!
>Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled (NO CROSSPLAY)
1) Go to online
2) Wait while it loads
3) Matchmaking mode should probably connect anons together considering the online is not very active anymore, but if that doesn't work, players will need to add each other as friends in their platform of choice in order to make a Private Lobby
4) Wait a lot while it loads
5!) VERY IMPORTANT, since the game loads slightly better in newer consoles (PS5, Switch 2, Xbox X) it's inadvisable to skip the intro cutscene as it'll desync with other players and softlock the race lol
Hopefully we can get some games going soon!
I used to play a lot of CTRNF on the Switch when it came out, I'd be down to play it some more if anons have it too. I'm way more used to it than classic CTR but I already have it installed so I'm down to play as well
Looked into the archives for some Grand Prix-era webms, what times. I really hope this gets a PC Port.
I'd give it a try if some people played the PS1 version regularly. I like the idea of cart racers but I don't play any and it would be fun as long as /some/ other players were also novices like myself.
>>1848242I'm no expert by any means, at least not in the original CTR, I played it as a kid so I know a fair share of tricks but most of my arcane knowledge about it got replaced by Nitro Fueled's mechanics.
Hopefully we can get some more (You)s here to organize a play group soon.
For lazy anons, here's a link to the BIOS and the CTR file for download: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1vbAs2itnOWirBSMufclOlfvWf_yAhaMr/
>>1850843Thanks, I didn't add it to the OP because it was too big a file for catbox.
Anybody up for CTR NF on Switch?
>>1846775bro you were attempting to U-Turn on 0:17? Press the down button.
>>1846438 (OP)I'm still mad they never brought Nitro Fueled to PC. I want to play with Megumi again...
>>1846438 (OP)How many people are playing CTR1 online, is it a lot? Is there enough people to find games where you don't have to mess around on a discord, because I'm not fucking bothering with discord matchmaking bullshit anymore.
>>1856416It's died down a bit, most of the servers I've seen at are 0/8 but if you join one you start getting people as you play more races, makes me wonder if they have some sort of notification for when a player is on because it always happens after I finish a race alone.
Tried to get NF working on Ryujinx and it had unbelievable lag, texture issues, and audio issues. What am I doing wrong?
Glad to see a thread for this up. I honestly keep forgetting /vm/ is a thing. Karters 2 news hitting today and seeing threads about it led me to checking here.
I worked as part of the Custom Team Racing crew for CTR [PS1] but I've stepped back to take time for myself and try other things. I'm currently playing around with original character designs whilst trying to keep it in line with the theming and designs of Crash. If you've got questions; feel free.
>>1858895What's the deal with animations and why is it impossible to add/extract them for now ?
>>1859839Decompilation of such functions still has a ways to go from what I can tell. On a side-note; a team member just finished and put out a release for all characters' official renders replacing all 16 characters (Oxide included).
It's crazy how such a good game got so little support.
Gonna be on the Matchmaking waiting lobby in CTRNF for Switch, I wonder if anybody from here that joins will find me.
>>1863308Actually surprised I found some people that still play here, most of them were clearly newbies but I'm happy to see online is still โalbeit lowlyโ populated
>>1863376If only it took like 10 minutes to load every time you start and end a race + people quitting/disconnecting during it and fucking up the lobby.
We need a SKG-tier petition asking these fuckers to release a good PC port.
>>1858126I recall it working great on Yuzu.
>>1846438 (OP)How sweaty is ctr online?
