Gonna try Turnabout Guard now. Ninjutsu Stock is nice and all, but its usefulness is pretty easily quantified. It doesn't seem like Ninja Sense Pro's damage code has a big effect on Ring Chop since its nerf. Dunno if that's because there's a limit to the amount of damage it deals or if the effect is just that weak now, but I end up with an extra point because of it if I go with Stock while Turnabout works out almost perfectly

Yeah, ignoring projectiles alone is huge. Sadly the cool combos you can do with it are just a bonus. The wind beam isn't all that good for anything but sneak attacks, stealing, and guard breaks since the tracking is kind of subpar, but everything else is great

Turnabout didn't work out because it wasn't activating often enough with Life Drain's super fast HP recovery on Scrap Saber, so I ended up going with
>Ninja Sense Pro 13, Life Drain 123, Stealing Hyena 123, Giant Killer 1, Ninjutsu Stock 23
instead. Has everything the weapon needs for survival and IPPONs. It's definitely not getting 3 Disco per match even with the Giant Killer ninjutsu code, but Stock ensures that you can still make those Discos count and gives you the ability to see through walls for most of the match too. Also, apparently the Ninja Sense Pro damage code just got nerfed from about 125% to 120% damage so I guess it wasn't as bad as I thought. Every bit of extra damage helps on this weapon anyway.

I also realized that there is value to waiting before continuing the combo on it. Ring Chop will catch pretty much any option the opponent picks aside from ninjutsu, Pop Eye WA, or guard. Rather than risking a Break read, you can just wait a sec for the burst to end. The snap-back motion and long recovery on Scrap Saber's attacks seems to support that sort of playstyle. Need to try doing that with Wide Attack more too, especially since it's a bit weak to teleports. Need to use Wide Attack or Ring Chop during combos against teleport weapons more in general, I think. Waiting for the ticks of Laser damage before ending the gumbind is another thing that supports this and can let you kill with Break against some weapons too once you've powered up Ring Chop enough with the big weapon ability. In other modes, you could probably use that waiting to bait opponents in since the weapon is at its strongest when fighting multiple people; the way it moves and the combination of Laser and Ring Chop makes it very hard to interrupt it during combos, which can result in other players getting caught up in said combos and taking 1 out of the 2-3 hits they need for Scrap to IPPON off a gumbind.

Final pass matsuri of the season is on, and less than a week left until the season's over.

Would anyone be willing to hop on to get a single Ranked BR match in for the rewards before the season ends? Already have someone else helping so it hopefully won't take that long with one more

Balance changes seem pretty whatever. Katana and Drill barely change due to their weapon abilities already restoring cooltime. Drill might get even more untouchable when droning. Noise didn't really need the damage but whatever, I'll take it. Slightly faster BR drone combos with gum shoot -> WA -> SP -> NA. Pop Eye buff doesn't feel that impactful, but this means you can use SP for medium Laser combos more easily so it'll help a bit. Yo-yos actually did need more damage so the Leap buff is pretty good. Master of Change ASAKUSA Wheel might be viable now. Beyond the Gum's problem was damage, not cooltime. Still can't do infinite combos with it anymore, so not much point to this change. Bumpy Accelerator on the other hand did desperately need a cooltime buff so that one's good. Feels better to use right off the bat. The Thunder Cannon buff is absurd. Like genuinely, what were they thinking? With big weapon, that attack deals around half a sound hammer's HP in damage when charged while ignoring guard. Completely braindead change. The Tornado Shot one is also unnecessary since the weapon already has so much going for it and the special already does so much, but it wouldn't have been a bad idea if not for that.

This is not an ideal environment to spend the remainder of Ninjala's life in, but it's not the worst thing ever either. Just more of the same.

Supposedly from investor reports in the link above, 2025 was a test year and the game would go into maintenance mode if they didn't manage to renew interest in it. They originally planned for NFTs to do this but thankfully they didn't go that route. However, they also did jack shit to actually improve anything so of course we are now in maintenance mode.

Take all that with a grain of salt since it's secondhand info and I haven't gone through those reports myself, but given this indefinite season I think it's safe to say that the end could be coming at any time. If you want to do something in Ninjala, now is the time to do it. The only hope for the future of this game is the possibility of Ninjala 2.

Yeah, I purposefully left our zone uncaptured when we would have had 3 to avoid giving them any ninjutsu, then took it back when we lost the other zone. The bonus kicks in when it's a 5 point difference or when all three zones belong to the other team, but they don't stack (I think). Losing a little at the start makes it harder for them to spam too

Afternoon is pretty much a ghost town, got some matches with less trouble after reset but it just reenkindled some of my hate for BR.
The only saving grace is that you can do those win 1st on teams, those are a nightmare on BR.

Done at last, I got interrupted way too many times with a dragon while attempting the finishing combos one.
Guess all that is left is the occasional Turf until this game or the thread completely dies.

I haven't been playing much lately because the new Daemon X Machina took all my attention for a few weeks, but as soon as I thought about Calibur builds a little I ended up spending the entire morning on making a new outfit/build for it so I don't think I'll be done with this game any time soon. Might even do team battle for fun every now and then once all my missions are complete. Don't worry about the thread, I should have enough clips to keep it alive until EoS; although I guess there's not much point to it anymore since nobody new is going to come looking for a place to talk about Ninjala.

I've been using Iron Bind on Calibur for years now since it's explosion code is really good with Punishing Blade, but since that's the only reason to take it aside from slightly more DPS against cheaters I think I can leave that strategy to Drill. Instead, I threw on Starting Dash to get big weapon earlier while also getting some on-respawn buffs that all benefit Calibur. With that, you can get one of the strongest big weapon abilities and gum shoots within the first minute if all goes well. People tend to only have one burst early on, so if they do that at the wrong time against medium Grenade it leads to easy kills; and the speed boost lets Overpowering Wave fling you even further across the stage to take advantage of that. The Starting Dash buffs only last for 30 seconds, but they're pretty nice if you can fight enemies for most of that time. NSP helps find enemies while that and GGM plus SP's movement utility also help mitigate the energy regen nerf. Starting Dash wasn't my idea, but it really does seem like one of the best picks for this weapon. Now if only I could figure out a BGM to use with it that matches both the outfit and the pace of Surfer and Ogre

It's best used to counter attacks, it's not great at catching people. You can aim it by dashing beforehand for movement and/or cancel the endlag with a guard if you don't hit anything

30, which doesn't feel that long in practice. The problem with Life Drain is A. It works against its own defense assist codes and Turnabout Guard and B. It doesn't benefit Punishing Blade at all. So while I really want Life Drain, it feels like it'd be a waste. I could potentially get more value out of it if I replaced NSP and used some of the extra points, but I dunno what else I'd even get

Switched back to calibur just because it was more important to keep them in check and fuck man it's like taking a wheight off.
I'd really like to be able to use more than two weapons but matsuri is not consistent enough for me.

Trying Life Drain with no healing code to see if that mitigates the lack of synergy it has with Turnabout Guard and its own assist codes and it seems to be working well. Still have the on-kill heals from Turnabout and Berserker to supplement it as well as help out Punishing Blade. I have tried Life Drain with no healing code before and it didn't work, but I think since Calibur needs the defense more than the healing this may be just right
