Europe here, I don't really think it's that bad - but I've played over 1000 hours and i can tell very easily if someone is sus or not.
More often than not, people don't cheat, they just get a good hold.
Of course, the alarms go off when you eat a headshot from 70+m from mid run.

Haven't played in a year, is the spear still the only viable melee weapon? Does double fire trap still almost burn you completely? Did they fix the UI? Any other change I should be aweare of?

Spear got it's speed and damage nerfed, throwing axes now carry 3, knives 8.

I usually don't bother with a melee tool, there's no downside to bayonet weapons anymore, talons and trauma variants have more recoil though.

Alert trip mines burn 25 HP per trap, UI is still worse compared to pre-1896, but better than launch 1896.

All maps are now in the game, and rain is available for Desalle and Gulch. I think it's in a good spot now, if this was how 1896 launched it would have been a huge success.

I'm 2800 hours in

It's kind of moot to debate about how many hackers there are. There are people(like me) who obviously don't think there is much of an issue, but I've met people who tell me there is someone hacking in every game we play. In the end, no one really knows.

My own experiences with cheating in this game are as follows:
I notice people who derender foliage and other objects a few times a week. I've met people who use exploits to see further(up to 30ft) through fog. I've met people who mess with the EQ of the game so much that you wouldn't be able to tell the audio is from hunt showdown, but they can tell when you breathe in to ADS from 40ft away. I've met people who congregate in discords dedicated to selling and sharing cheats.

TL;DR hunt has the same amount of cheaters as any online game, probably a little bit on the lower end.

Game is like this every event, that's for sure. When event starts the player pool is completely bulked out. Even the most casual players are trying out the new content. Your lobbies are much more evenly filled and the majority of the people playing want to play wild and have some fun. At this point in the event there are a bunch of people who've quit and are taking a break until the next event starts. Everyone's finished the battlepass, bored of the event content, and waiting until crytek do something new before they play the game again.The only people hanging around now and until the next event starts are the no lifers and the sweats. People who play this game like a mil sim, people who sit on random parts of the map and try to snipe people to increase their kd, people who sit outside of scan range until they know they're the last team in the lobby to push. The absolute scum of the earth.

There is a chinese bili bili streamer(EU servers btw) with a 5.8kd who I get matched against sometimes. Usually it's not so often, but 4/5 days this week I've spent 4 hours of every morning getting slapped by this guy on repeat. I don't even feel anger when I die to him anymore it's just a sigh of resignation. I'm not sure if he's cheating or just completely cracked out on adderall but there should be at least 4 tiers of cyberpsychos between me and him in the match making.

Can't wait until they remove the gunrunner shit from the game. It was fun for a bit but there is not that much creative stuff I've done with it. Most people just take long ammo and a shotgun, and I am sick of pushing long ammo players only to be crowned in the face.

In terms of good gun runner loadouts my favorite is drilling+drilling. A lot of players instinctively try to move after they hear two drilling shots: "he's reloading, this is my chance to push/move". You fire your first two drilling shots and switch to your second drilling, often you'll see a guy running in the open or repeaking you from the same angle he's been fighting from. Often even people you tag with one of your first shots will be taking risks because they think it's their time to move. It will take teams quite a while to realize you've got two, and even when they realize the instinct to react to the two drilling rounds being fired is so strong; they've been training this reaction for 1000's of hours. The cadence of a double drilling player seems to be very hard for most players to adapt to.

If anyone else's got some creative gun runner loadouts, let me know.

I've played some cyclone shotgun. Great if you have fire on the cyclone and you can push while they try to put themselves out. It is the normal rifle+shotgun though. I'm watching a trio and one of the guys just played cyclone+explosive crossbow, which seems like a cool combo.

btw you should really play cyclone with FMJ, it lets you 2-tap arms up to like 77 meters which is insane, and you can very often get wallbangs with it, always play with an ammo box.

it goes further than this, i noticed that as people "settle in" during events 3-4 weeks in, they ramp up gold register spawns, reward legendary hunters and bloodbonds through dark tribute.
the game most likely records your performance with loadouts and what you die to, then if you have a winning streak, all of a sudden you spawn right next to the guys in the match with the stuff you statistically die to, with 4 crow and horse spawns in your face. then after having frustrating gameplay, the next day you get "regular" spawns again, ive had this so many times.
there is no way you have performance go wildly up and down exactly on alternating days when the game is so heavily based on time-invested gamesense and frequent playing.

I guess I just don't get the logic behind it. The 1865 is a beast at close range, but aperture sights are more sharp-shootery but setting the range so low doesn't give you the benefit of making head clicking at range easier only the negetive of a shitier sight profile.
The other aperture guns have more headroom in the circle making them better at range.

I used to think Crytek made a mistake making the extracts less random. I changed my mind when sweaty sniper campers became more common. I suggested a central extract as an idea years ago but as an air balloon that would require some preparation. The fact that it's another stagecoach is lazy and nonsensical. Just model a balloon from the murder circus, embiggen it and add a basket. I think it'll shake up gameplay but they need to make solo bounties more common not less. Trios doesn't have enough teams to make double bounty interesting. It attracts rats, casuals and sweats for that reason. Duos is far more fun but goobers are too dumb to deal with the chaos.

Again this is high six stars, la creme de la creme of hunt.
Third game, nothing TOO retarded this time just classic russian behaviour, we find the boss at the first compound, kill, banish and I put down some traps, other team comes, our retarded russian teammate activates his vodkanigger superpowers and decides that he HAS to fight outside the compound for some reason, instead of coming back inside he says to go help him, me and the other guy know that that is a terrible idea but we go there anyway and die because we're running into their crosshairs instead of them running into ours. A couple times now I've been hang manned right off spawn, so some people are using it that way.

I've been using double pax w/fmj + single pax+fmj. If you get a devil card the duel pax turns into a spam laser.

Garden is nice if you can remember to use it. It's a full heal and faster proc than a vit shot. Learn to use it on yourself before trying to use it for team mates.

With the tower you can run around the web to spawn in all the mobs then burn the card to clear most of it instantly.

A great use for the magician is when you have a downed team mate against a team with dark sight. You can run up to your team mate and pop the magician on his body. When the enemy team scans they will assume you've ressed already and give you more space to actually res.

Hunt has a pretty steady playerbase, which is more important than high/increasing numbers. 25k players for the next 5 years is perfectly fine for me.

the game used to not have drop range, and instead had "headshot range" where a headshot would kill, it was always far anyway and every gun had some weird number like 276, 302, etc.
drop range was introduced with 1896 update, likely to balance the mammon's gulch map which has much more verticality and allows you to see hunters from further than before, but this effectively killed pistols in the game, which were used way more commonly because they all have shit drop range. the uppercut used to be the most used secondary in the game and you could just use it as your main gun in meta, now its nerfed to nothingness. only sparks pistol and trueshot have usable drop-range.

What I will say is that I started at 4* when the elo system was implemented, climbed to 6* and have 3000 hours and hackers are not that much of an issue for me. Alert traps are very fun with these new barrels. A death trap usually costs two tool slots and it's expensive, so one alert for one kill is insane value, especially since you can burn downed hunters and burn bars with them.
Only downside is looting them back off hunters. Packmule and ammo resupply kits for one point are handy for that.

anyway, i am still using dragonbreath for fun, on the spectre instead of alamo which is too slow, the spectre is a straight upgrade and extremely oppressive. since drilling is my favourite rifle, im pairing it with the drilling shorty dumdum and its extremely fun so long as your team can push. the DB spectre can still oneshot at very close range, but from quite far outside the typical buckshot range you can simply tag enemies for pressure and a drilling shot usually tags them dead (if you even need to), you hardly need to aim with it which adds to the "tagging" strategy, they slow down and you can time your shots /move.

Yes. And lots of exploiting of netcode that the director openly called people whiners when asked for a fix. There are a lot of soft hacks and the devs go after the people reporting them rather than fix the issue. Bonus that one of their top streamers is pretty well known for exploits and hacks.
It's mostly sunk cost keeping people in. Play a better game.
