because the zombie combat sucks, and because looting is really boring
All you do is run into empty houses and stare at the ground because loot spawns are retarded

This
Its been YEARS and vanilla play experience is total ass. When you shoot zombies there's usually some lag as the server does a million calculations based on bullet physics or something just for the zombie to fall down when it dies. Pvp is a mess. You can sink a thousand hours into day z just for it to vanish in a puff of smoke. The gameplay loop is ass. Long term goals in the "game" are loose at best.

Day Z looks so fun but then you play it and you realize its one of the worst piles of dogshit you've ever seen. They even charge around 40 bucks for this heap of shit they dare to call a game. Its more like a pile of 3d assets with some extremely over developed gun physics and just about everything else is under developed. You got like 5 models of building and like five models of zombies that just repeat ad nauseum and at any point in the game I have no idea really where I am because the entire game looks the fucking same.

Even under ideal conditions (good equipment. lots of food and ammo etc) this game sucks. Player base is all decentralized as hell and half of them just kill you on sight anyway

I cannot stress this enough but Day Z was p e of the most egregious thefts of my money I've ever experienced. If you haven't bought it yet, don't. The only game that was a bigger disappointment than this shit was one hour one life.

I love DayZ. imo Namalsk is the best way to play; the cold forces people to either band together or prey on others to survive.

It's the only game I play currently, been that way for years pretty much. Lots of imitators but no other can surpass its gameplay, especially the adrenaline it produces in you, in real life. Its the most exciting game I've ever experienced, due to long periods of not seeing another survivor combined with the fear of losing your gear, the time it takes to acquire it. Many would agree the best part of the game is early phase. There's a lot of freedom of approach. The replayability is endless. To enjoy playing it regularly you have to make peace with how easy it is for you to drop dead. Always remind yourself all that gear can simply be gathered up again. Altering default keybinds to whats best for you is vital, so is turning down mouse sensitivity, you want tight control in aiming, focusing. Shit ton of ppl play DayZ its very popular. But I'd say the more mods that are on a server, the worse it's going to be, often breaking what the core game is. I don't know how anyone plays the modded out the ass servers, chock full of out-of-place garbage, gamebreaking mechanics like endless stamina. Barf!

because the engine is retarded. comparing it to rust, where everything feels snappy and predictable, this game is a mess. and whenever I get the urge to download it again, I join the server and realize there is nothing to do because gameplay loop is the same every time. seriously, you might like it untill you try something better (rust) and then you never look back. this game got abandoned by devs immediatly after release, and its been 10 years already. compare the progress they've made to 10 years of rust development, its a night a day. dayz STILL lacks stuff from dayz mod. this shit of a game gaslights you into thinking that its a fun game, while in reality you only stick with it because you don't know any better.
