Definitely Summerset's conquest. Imperials have been through worse than the reachmen, and the Argonians only sucker punched Morrowind after three back-to-back disasters that were all worse than the accession war, four if you count the Imperial occupation. Altmer had resisted invaders for thousands of years and the fact that they didn't rebel the instant Numidium was disabled implies the attack and/or occupation was much worse than just smashing a few ships and buildings.

Heavy armor will hinder your dps. Light armor passives give armor penetration per piece and medium gives crit and weapon/spell damage. Heavy is mostly damage resistance.

Heavy chest armor is popular since it gives the full resistance bonus as the biggest piece, but I'd consider swapping some of the smaller pieces to light and medium armor just to deal more damage, and to have exp flowing into all 3 armor trees

Realistically though, only the companions will be fully romancable and the rest will be flirt options that go nowhere, MAYBE a kiss or implied one night stand if they're feeling bold. "Higher drop rates" don't mean anything because overland mobs don't drop anything useful, unless it affects containers which just means urn farmers will run stealth builds if the hp jump is that bad. The biggest thing they could do would be perfected sets, so people could just switch off whenever they're not filling the stickerbook.

And this is assuming hp inflation will even be a problem. Maybe they learned from Craglorn and focus hp gains on the bosses everyone complains about killing too quickly instead of random trash mobs.

Probably bought gold. Bots farm the starter zones, sell mats for dirt cheap then sell the gold for cash. But with bots keeping mats cheap and no addons to help with farming or trading until recently, the average player has way less gold and overall prices are much lower. So the economic threat would be a flood of cheap goods more than the handful of players with big money.

But did they actually say they were merging things to that extent? I always figured cross play would just limit trading to dungeon/trial drops and keep the guild markets segregated.

The starter zones are tiny islands, there's not much to touch up besides beaches, shipwrecks and decor. Redoing the building models would scope creep the project from side job to expansion feature territory, and they still got indirect improvements from lighting changes. Much as I'd love it if they prettied up the entire game until it sets last-gen consoles on fire, you've gotta be realistic. It wasn't advertised as a full remake and ZOS seems to be in no condition to do that even if they wanted to.

We're now getting to the point where every culture has been well established visually. New assets for the sake of new assets is a waste of time and resources. We need new systems and revisiting old ideas, not locations. Touching up old assets is on the table.

I don't see it that way. One of the appeals of ESO is being able to see parts of Tamriel that the mainline games aren't touching, and even hobbyists doing the same raised their standards beyond copypasting old assets years ago. Would you be okay paying that much for Necrom if it was cobbled together from upscaled Stonefalls buildings? Plus new assets do expand an old system, by adding new furnishings.

And again, this shouldn't even be an either/or situation. The only reason we can't have say, new DB content in Solstice is the design choice to have every expansion isolated in a timeless bubble (which is no longer the case), and limits on developer resources which appears to be because of gross mismanagement.

Probably something to do with the whole necromancer-centric cult and their necromancer leader. Also the Mages Guild outlawed it, and summoning lesser daedra is still fairly common among them. Since they are 100% bound to your word while on Nirn and can't remain without a summoner. Zombos and skellies can run amok until their gas runs out if when they get taken off the leash. If you could summon Dremora as a sorc, that should carry a bounty.

Summoning a daedra is dangerous, but doesn't necessarily require anything but knowledge and magicka and isn't inherently harmful. Step one of necromancy is to desecrate someone's corpse, and possibly enslave their soul. Only one of these things NEEDS a death to function.

Plus it's just unhygienic. Necromancers probably smell funky.

The first two are just small tutorial zones, might as well give them shit for making up dungeon locations. The Systres were a named location from Redguard's map. Solstice is the only case (so far) of them pulling a big island out of complete nowhere AND blowing an entire expansion slot on it.

I started playing again after many years (account is 10 years old, but I played less and less, and one of my characters is CP 5 or something). My biggest problem at the time was not having a class that I liked enough. With the changes, and mixing skill lines that has changed, and I can just play on my main character (which I kept deleting autistically and remaking as a different class, while I kept an alt for crafting)

Polarizing, some like it and others absolutely hate it. Personally I like it, but it did exacerbate some major preexisting issues. Skills that were already broken in pvp are now stackable, Arcs already pushed every other class out of meta and subclassing made them stronger, and the barrier to access those skills is just slotting a line instead of leveling up a new character. But blaming subclassing for all that is misguided, the problem is the inept devs that don't play the game and balance entirely via spreadsheet.

Blackbird turned the ESO team into a skeleton crew, so its a question of whether MS decides to build the studio back up to keep the crate money flowing long term or not. Its hard to tell which they're doing right now.

If 26 is a repeat of this year or worse, its probably doomed and shuts down within 2-3 years as players lose faith and stop spending enough for MS to justify its existence.
If they can get their shit together and deliver beefier content and/or any of that "cool stuff coming next year" stream talk it could go another 10+ years just fine.

Not really. In most cases you will never run out of stamina while using magicka as your main resource.
Putting points into magicka as a magicka caster seems a better choice since it will keep you longer in the fight without having to replenish the bar.

I suppose this happens to every mmo, but I just feel like I've done everything in eso so I don't log in as often anymore. I've got several max level characters, I've done every trial and dungeon, I've got a good win rate in pvp, a few houses that are well decorated, etc. The same thing happened with WoW and swtor for me. I just did everything. I love these games and I love mmo's, but there comes a point where I'm satisfied with with "beating" it. I can go months without logging in, and then I'll just play the next story expansion when it comes out. I guess lots of people feel this way so it's nothing noteworthy. There's no real point to my post, just thinking.

I would say that eso has been overall fun for me. I started playing because it's been over 10 years since the last elder scrolls game and this was a in the meantime game, but as I played I enjoyed some of the characters and seeing parts of the world that aren't featured in a mainline game and various other positives, and I even got into the social aspect a bit and joined a few guilds a couple of which did meetings and rp and that sort of stuff. So it had something to offer that the mainline tes games don't. Seeing Summerset and Elseweyhr and those places that don't have a game has been quite enjoyable. I think eso is a good game overall.

It's a bit simplistic though, compared to a lot of other mmo's. I had to sit down and do number crunching and rotation memorizing and priority memorizing a lot more in WoW and swtor. Eso has fewer buttons and fewer moving parts in its gameplay. I think that's a good thing for casuals, but as a long time mmo player who did top raids and top tier pvp in those other mmo's it always felt a bit simple. Not inherently a bad thing, just an observation.

I look forward to romancing Naryu in the next update.

Anons I'm a mainline SP TES fan and I've flirted a few times with the idea of trying ESO. Their famous cinematics were always amazing. I've heard both positive and negative things regarding its content (gameplay, plot, etc). Still my interest remains.

I watched one of those classic "is <MMO> worth playing in 2025?" and in short the guy explained that that the system is horizontal (I like that it's not a rat race) and the combat can become very floaty and spastic if you go for max DPS (though he also said that you don't have to other than the latest of game content).
Monetization was also a big con since you absolutely need to buy a sub for crafting bags and other QOL stuff according to the video.

And then I come here, skim the thread and find out that ESO could maybe have a few years of actual life ahead of it. Is it worth it to buy the Standard Edition to try it out since it's 5 euros in Steam atm, so dirt cheap? No investing big time and money yet.

same thing for me, I spent a year of my life in ESO so it's not hard to feel done with it. I haven't been playing much for 3-4 years, on and off, trying new chapters and mechanics. I think the final straw was accountwide-ing achievements, there are 14 characters on my account and all separately leveled up, max crafting and skill points etc. All of that was invalidated in a stroke. Now with subclassing it matters even less, feels like those hours were for nothing.
If anything it gave me a life lesson to only play vidya if and when I enjoy it, I have no will or time to waste on grinding and rolling the dice.

New player (~30 days since started eso), picked Templar for some reason (didn't realize any class can heal and tank, don't have to pick the "paladin" for that),bsubclassed into DK now. Playing tank right now, but realized I struggle with hard modes sometimes (lightning snake lady in Arx whatever just murders me)

1) Don't use any Templar skills anymore, just 1h+shield skills + DK fire chain + stunning circle from Fighter Guild for tanking and 2h skills + DK fireballs for damage when playing solo

2) gear is Embershield (buff self with HA) plus Tormentor (lets me use 1h charge to both taunt enemy and buff self). Used Imperium set before Embershield, but it was boring, since now I have to watch fire proc uptime

Yes and no. Unfortunately the people that like weaving are numerous/vocal enough that ZOS is scared to fix it so that garbage is probably staying until EOS. However, they're also well aware that it sucks and have been introducing various workarounds. Heavy attack builds have gotten a lot of support, and the newest class is designed around channeled abilities instead of weaving.
