Sorry if this is old news, but I thought I'd make a post about it. From what I understand, increasing your DEF (or MDEF) is kind of pointless.
The higher the value, the higher the % reduction in damage you take, however, the required DEF stat to get a significant improvement increases exponentially.

>30% at 1250
>40% at 11250
>50% at 30250

So basically, once you reach 250 DEF, improving your protection further gets ridiculous. MDEF works the same way.

If you want to, 40k is chump change in the long run. You should really get around 300-400k to afford a low-end 10th anniversary weapon or similar, then look towards weapons with good effects in the 500k-1m range after that.

Are you sure about this? Because if I play around in https://coryn.club/stat_calculator.php and give the enemy 30250 defense, it just reduces damage to 1 (unless I also give at least 90% physical pierce). It doesn't line up at lower values either:

So I was curious and then start doing light testing on difference of the damage I take with different armor, only accounting their defense stat. Right and left side logs correspond with the armor I use below.
I test it with a monster that is only 1 level above me and only deal physical damage. The result is as you see. What is clear is that it's definitely not a flat reduction.

There are 4 ways:
1. RMT
2. Become a whale and roll the gacha for piercer/extraction crysta then selling them.
3. Get lucky on the gacha and sell the 90m 2nd slot piercer to someone else.
4. Become a blacksmith and pray for the RNG god to give you two slot equipments and +S refinement everyday.
I once reach 50 million spina by the way of the 3rd method.

yeah, it's really not a bad weapon to carry you.
Here's a pro tip. You can put any crysta on it, and later remove it at zero cost.
You lose the crysta, but the weapon remains the same. No reason to keep a weapon empty to save the slot for later.
Crit+5 crysta aren't that expensive either, and are always a good choice.

It gives you 1000 aspd right away, if you already reach el scaro the place to farm it is near there.
There should be a monster in an area called magic waste site called cursed clock. The monster level is around 70-73 ish. They drop antique chest that sometimes contain it.
It's very RNG based though so I suggest try searching it in the consigment board instead in case someone sell their used one for cheap.
imo, aspd doesnt really do much if you don't reach 1000 aspd and doesn't really matter beyond 1000 aspd.

Either get something that can strenghthen your main stat (STR, INT, VIT, AGI, or DEX) or something that can supplement your lack of MP or AMPR.
I personaly recommend sticking with the basic stat talisman and see what your character is lacking first before comitting on crafting/buying more expensive stuff.

Turns out you need either Knuckles, Magic Device, Dual Swords, Daggers, or Light Armor equip to use dodge.

They give free resets from time to time. You also get account wide +stats and +skill points, so new chars start stronger. Making new alts is super easy in here.

it should be fine. just look into the other skill trees when you go to the library in sofya. most builds use skills from 5+ skill trees to be viable. maxxing out the skills in just your primary skill tree won't get you very far.

Shield skills have some offensive options, like Shield Cannon. Knight has buffs when you remain stationary. You need to decide if you wanna be a damage dealer semi tank or fully dedicated tank. I would recommend the first for now.

It's been working for me and I just kind of winged it. You won't have a really big damage skill until Revenir at level 125 though. Shield Cannon is strong if you upgrade your shield, but it can only do that damage to bosses once every minute or so, or not at all if they're immune to stun. But you are nearly unkillable, so you can get a merc or another player to do the damage you need while you just annoy the boss with interrupts and shrug off all its attacks. You also get breaks and everyone loves having breaks.

For good chump change to get you through, guild mazes drop tons of bronze, silver, and gold medals which are only for selling at shops for money.

You have to sell items to other players. Minotaur skins and bird wings are pretty easy to farm if you have a guild merc or a party

Farm the minotaur for its skins. You can sell the skins directly on the board for like 450k per stack, or turn them in for a quest with the NPC right next to the Sofya board and sell the potions you get from that for a comparable amount plus exp. If you're in a guild, do the guild maze, it's scaled to the player so a good strat is to make a level 1 character just for clearing maze floors. Hyper Magic Hammers and Hyper Anti-Degradations from floors 900-1000 are in big demand and most of the skill books you can get from floor 600+ sell for multiple millions each too.

It's just to get some initial capital from nothing. Once you can spend five figures comfortably you have more options. Fishing is good too, but you need 10k to buy land and materials to make a fishing table and rod. Once per month you can fish up a sunken object that sells for around 2.5m. If you happen to get any dyed weapons, those tend to sell in the 500k-1m range too. If it's untradable, you can buy a relatively cheap tradable weapon on the market, synth the dye to it while keeping the tradable stats for 50k, and sell it for a tidy profit.

Is the game supposed to be hard? I can't tell if it's hard, my build is bad, or I'm bad. Most of the telegraphed abilities one shot which is fine but even the boss auto attacking you can kill you super quickly.

a tank alt could be nice to keep aggro off of you, but not necessary since you can just hire a 'defender' mercenary to do that.
a luk alt is probably more important. you can use it to aoe farm/get drops, but mainly for refining your gear on (luk mages are low investment so you can just buy the blacksmith refine skill for a few points).

150 is good. i think at that point you get another emblem to increase exp on alts, and you unlock lv4 skills (your alts can unlock the same tier of skills, as long as one of your characters meets the level requirement).

While the Autumn event is still ongoing (the next week or so) you can also kill Persimmon Coryns in a few areas as an easy source of money. They don't fight back, they're good experience when you're low level, they have 100% droprate on their leaves, and a stack of leaves sells for 300k. You can also open a menu of all nearby targets with Tab which should let you select and interact with the boss. The game can be shitty about switching targets mid-fight sometimes so you'll want to get in the habit of using that.
