I would contribute, (and used to contribute) but then someone decided to permaban me from clown for an action that I was given no official indication was a violation of our rules. After playing on other servers, they call this out specifically as a violation, we should do the same here too.

Now, In my first time recieving punishment, I'm permanently banned from my favorite role because 13monkeys decided to metagrudge me, he knew it was my favorite role and wanted to take it from me. This is repeat behavior of the shit that initially got him banned from the discord, but nobody is standing up to it.

To circle back; he earned me a permanent role ban, rather than to do something reasonable like ban me from the server for 3 days to a week as a warning. Yeah, it was a shitty move on my part that I wouldn't have done if I knew it was a violation, but the response is heavy handed, and I can't even appeal it for reasons below;

To appeal, I need to sign up to the forum. I'm unable to sign up for the forum, because nobody is able to give me the secret sign up code.

So in effect, I'm permabanned from my favorite role, nobody can give me the keys to get it back, and, the biggest problem, is that there's no garuntee that I won't go through this again if this known shitter gets mad in game at me again.

I'd normally just play the game without being a clown, but then I'd still need to play with folks who have enough time and malice on their hands to post half baked ban requests.

I'd prefer to just play with cool folks, which I can just do on several other servers.

The conditions that allow for my situation to take place are likely what is contributing to so many annoyed posters here, and so little actual gameplay posting. People are getting spurned, and no longer want to play, they get more enjoyment pressing the "annoy" button on the shitty folks still here.

The solution is to ban people that you know are corrosive to the community, or for us to wait it out.

Also, the attitude that I keep getting is "you should have known".

Maybe if we made it clear, I would have known. Something as simple as any figure of authority leaving a note for me in my feedback thread, or a bwoink, or a byond pager message, or a short term ban so that I see the message. The point is, there are several ways to do this to make it simple and communicative, but we just don't have the manpower or the environment to make it happen.

I get it, its easier not to say anything, but the blowback of taking the easier route is for things to just degrade as we see happening now.

I can go anywhere else and enjoy this game, this isn't a cope post, I just am not someone that's going to let something shitty slide without other people being made aware. Mainly, this is just a massive shame. It sucks to keep watching this server sink due to straight up neglect and tribalistic attitudes, none of it is necessary, it just makes the game a social battleground amongst players (not their characters) with the pretext of a game.

You don't owe me shit, this is a service that you provide, but that doesn't mean you have to deafen yourself to well intended feedback, or label it as malicious for some reason.

You can, its your option, but other servers don't have the problems we do, its worth examining if we want to be free of those problems. I genuinely want this to be better.

There are different camps on this, bottom line here though is that by the current rules, we are marketed as a low roleplay community.

I personally am voting for the vg style of roleplay, high roleplay masquerading as low roleplay, us all roleplaying almost in a satirical play, if that makes sense. I personally want situations where I see someone reacting to something as if its real life, but I also want situations where someone puts a nude poster on the wall and roleplays reacting to it like a cartoon character.

I personally find that it only gets rough when the player, not the character, gets mad about the difference and then punishes someone for it disproportionately. Berating people for not playing the way you want is a bad move all around, it just makes the game less fun for everyone.

This happens on both sides, the low roleplay enjoyers lash out at the high roleplay enjoyers and vice versa, we just gotta find a way to moderate against this and educate everyone

Seems like a big issue is that people aren't acting with a shared social contract.
This is a video game, but when people group up, we want to know that we're sharing even a small base level of (broadly termed) safety together. Both sides of the isle are violating this, and its creating the turmoil we see, which are exacerbated by our /current/ moderation policy.

From what I've experienced in life, and from what I've heard amongst those most distraught in the server, I firmly feel that leadership always holds the responsibility to set the tone, and its not being upheld. Some admins are doing their best, and BIG respect to them, they're generally the least vocal ones too because of the climate of the server.
I'm not ragging on anyone when I'm saying this, just stating what I notice. I think we can improve it if there is a push to clean things up.

The best you can do is get yvvel and nervere to leave the server, then maybe they'll recruit admins again and you can get some normal people in there, then start rebuilding. I wrote about problems I've noticed in the community that would kill pop. This writeup was pretty neutral and focused on basic resolution steps for any sort of problem.

Ironically, after this post, the entire thread gets locked and I find I have a forum permaban. The pretext that I got in my message for the permanent ban is that I said VG instead of /vg/ (even though we're not even on /vg/ anymore)

All in all, a pretty hilarious move. Imagine rolling up to a McDonalds you used to work in, but god damn were there a ton of mice all over the place. You learn some things, come back, see that the amount of mice has tripled.

You grumble, roll up your sleeves, and try to show them how to properly store food, how to execute vermin, basically just how not to serve a patty coated in rat urine, then they kick you out because you weren't in uniform.

At any time there are about 700 people online on discord actively chatting. None of them play the game. Every time the topic of bringing players to the server comes up they look for players on /v/ or reddit or craigslist. Never once do they go ''hey wait a sec, we have thousands of people in this supposed SS13 VG discord.'' Even they know those are not players.
The cope is that muh thread got ruined and that's why there are no players. The thread at its height had about 20 posters, which is nothing compared to how many people are in the discord. Nevermind that half the thread was discord leaking and just people posting ''vox cum vox cum'' and pictures of Sonix' troonsona and all sorts of gay porn, all a direct consequence of discord.
The state of admins is caused by discord because they get to sit in their ivory tower and ban people who disagree with them. It doesn't just harm the server to have the discord, it actively poaches people away from the server as the fucking host of the server and the admins open channels to play other games or start drawpiles where they draw porn.

The majority of active servers on SS13 are russian. The west just doesn't play games like this any more. They've moved on. Just like everybody in the discord. That thing has been around for nearly 10 years. You know that right? BYOND is a dead platform, the SS14 get 4,000 players at its weekend peaks and hovers around 2,000 at its worst. I don't think BYOND as an entire service reaches near that. Nobody fucking knows what it is. There's barely any new players finding this game, and if they are I bet they don't want to install some dogshit ass service just to play it when there's a game that looks identical to them on Steam.

I don't know what it is with you people with expecting people, who are likely in their mid to late 20s (or older, I know a lot of us are now in our 30s), to be playing this game every night and all day on weekends. I have work. I have friends to go and hang out with. I have other hobbies and interests to do with my limited time.
This game was kept alive for so long by teenagers and college students. They're all gone. They stopped coming in numbers to 4chan, and so they stopped coming to the game. Young people aren't interested in this any more. They watch streamers, they play friendslop. They sit and waste all their money on gachas. We are a niche of a niche. At some point you have to stop living in the clouds and realise that this was always going to happen. Everybody else did, which is why they sit on the discord and talk to each other, because that is all they have the time for.

VG lost a lot of players because of kammertroon's autism. They had this policy where if someone isn't online to get ''questioned'' (i.e an autistic janny asking you one question and dropping spaghetti) you get a permanent ban. Often admins would deliberately wait until you log off so they can ban you.
The only way to get unbanned is to go sign up to some strange forum and go through a humiliation ritual. Even though the justification for the permaban is that this is how they make sure you see the ban, now you will stay permanently banned until you've given them an explanation for your behavior that they approve.

New players would often join and maybe they don't fully understand what they can do, maybe they get in a fight, they die and they log off. Then another person ahelps and gets this player permanently banned.
This got rid of hundreds of potential players. The justification for this is that if you don't make forum accounts and grovel, we don't want you anyway and you wouldn't have made a good player, which is insane.

This is something I always hated and said was a problem. This puts off so many players that could take a few days or week at most. It's not even a 3 strike system it's a 1 strike. Admins want to over punish for no reason, if they're a griefer you'll have another chance to ban them no need to do perma first offense just because you don't have their discord.
I was lucky enough to be a "known" player where when this happened to me I was given special treatment. An admin who was cool with me reached out to me outside of the game to join back in to talk about it, so I did and we got it settled. In reality any admin could do this but they permaban instead. Blaming discord isn't an excuse either because the byond pager is there and you already have their username

If it loads for you like it loads for me then the white uncovered area is the area of viability for hot vs cold tanks.
I think the c slider is something to do with moles of gas but it looks completely alien to me right now and I can't be bothered to decipher it all. Pretty sure this is what I used to get 30+ dev bombs back in the day. I also believe it assumes that you are using a cold tank of a mix of plasma+oxygen (that's the z slider I believe) and the hot tank is just pure plasma.
There's probably somebody out there who's fucked around with this since I did this and figured out a better way to get big bombs, I know I wasn't the only person doing this.
None of this calculates how big the bomb will be but it shows you points where you can create viable bombs at different pressures and temperatures, and then it's just up to you to figure out how to shove that much gas into a tank and see how big it goes.

The AI is struggling with song length because the genre I am trying usually is only 2-3 minutes so it cuts off the lyrics. There is no reliable way to get a longer song other than asking the AI nicely. Having it generate a song in two parts is messy and leaves a jarring transition because it's not suno.
