Welcome to /vm/abinogi.

Mabinogi is a fun, once popular little old school Korean MMO from 2004 based around Celtic mythology with many different features. Your character can age, rebirth, eat food and gain weight, play and custom make music, and so much more. You can be anything and do anything all at once with no downsides. From non-combat related skills like cooking, tailoring, blacksmithing, trading goods in a commerce, carpentry, etc. to different styles of combat like melee, magic, ninja, archery, puppetry, etc. all on 1 character.

Although graphics and gameplay is still a bit dated, even after 17 years the game is still rich in content such as fashion contests, cooking contest, jousting, playing in or viewing large concerts, training pets, and so on and continues to be Nexon's most generous game.

I think the ecosystem Mabinogi survives on is power creep, and that's not a negative. Soul Liberator weapons, drobe, and enchants as chase items drive players to continue playing while being entirely unnecessary to play the majority of the content. I think we need, and for the most part want, the power creep.

To the point that it feels bad if you leave for some time and come back... That is a feature, not a flaw, in the design. The design is intended to encourage you to stay active and involved more by softly moving the floor up over time as the ceiling gets higher. They simultaneously will shorten the time it takes to reach the new floor, as we've seen with the recent master plan and other events (as well as changes coming in New Rise which I won't spoil here). It still feels bad to come back and everything you worked for being, to varying degrees, irrelevant. That negative reinforcement coupled with a clear and accessible path back to relevance in the shortest time possible completes the loop. You could view this with a nihilist perspective because progress you make now won't ultimately matter later, but desu the point of playing a game is to enjoy an activity of little consequence in the first place. It doesn't matter if it matters, it only matters if you were entertained or intrigued by the process.

The soft raising of the floor, the increase of access to the floor, and the high ceiling regularly being raised primarily creates frustration only when you approach the ceiling (which should be the hard part, maybe just not as hard). I think, big picture, Mabinogi handles creep relatively well with some room for improvements.

An example of positive power creep is the Arcana Achievement Mission. I also think Bri Leith and Primeval Winter are overall healthy and welcome additions to the top end

If you have two of the same set effect reach +10 only higher one will activate. Set effects that have the same name count as same set effect and don't stack.
Some set effects give the same stat but have a different name for the set effect. These can stack.
Example. Ceann bliana skirmisher has Piercing Resistance Increase (2). Ceann bliana bulwark has Piercing Resistance Increase (5). These effects have the same name so only the one with the higher value applies. You only get 5 pierce resistance from bulwark even if both effects reach +10. They don't stack.
Example 2. Abyss dragon armor has Ladeca Movement Speed Boost. Forest ranger boots has Eweca Movement Speed Boost. Despite giving the exact same stat these two effects stack because the names of the set effects are different.

Everything has caps, so you'd be better off farming tech since that's where geas mats come from to begin with. Elite shadow missions and hardmode dungeons should be easy enough.
For techs sacred guard is really good for revived illusion. If hard revived illusion is too hard you can do normal techs. Normals have the same rates for leprechauns as hard missions, but you will miss out on the bigger check reward at the end.
Solo crom bas has infinite revives for the duration of the event. You can try 0% crom, but desu I wouldn't even bother.

Also I recently came back so I'm kind of trying to rush and finish all the fergus weapon objectives before it ends.
Worse part was some of the unlocks required silly stuff like the rock paper scissor gloves from price which took me an entire day to get because he kept spawning with only paper gloves and no one had the other two up for sell at the time.

The attack that sends a leprechaun to a finishable state doesn't drop any items, so a dapper still only drops two items, one glas material and one blue erg material even if you technically get one extra hit in.
All leprechauns drop the same amount of materials regardless of party finishing settings.

If you want to level a red technique you need red briogh points. Green briogh for green technique and so on. You get red briogh points for leveling, green for clearing dungeons and blue for repeatable quests. Fill the progress bar of your technique with those points and advance it. To advance it you will need briogh crystals of respective color. Crystals come from tech reward chests. Hard techs drop virtuous briogh crystals. You will need those for later levels but virtuous crystals can also be fragmented into the smaller ones using alchemy. Alternative you can just buy the crystals from auction house.
