The big hurdle with backporting champions is going to be getting them working on a 126 client.

Take Ahri for example. She's functional as far as the server is concerned, but she has a lot of visual issues. Her Spells don't render at all, and her little orb doesn't render correctly.

The server is targeting 126, which was released in October of 2011. Ahri was released in 131, which came out in December of 2011. So in a period of only two months, the client had received enough changes for compatibility to break.

That raises the question of approach to fix compatibility: Can we change Ahri's files to fix her rendering issues? Or does the client require modification to fix her rendering issues? Maybe it's easier to modify Ahri's files in the short term, but that's not going to be a feasible solution for all champions.

The client is going to require modification at some point. We have debug symbols for 126 so a decomp is definitely an easier task than flying blind but that's only part of the problem solved. The other half is figuring out what changed in future client versions and then backporting those changes to a 126 client without breaking existing compatibility.

The hard cutoff point is 1.0.0.132. Anything after requires full manual recreation of the champion's code and scripts.

I have no interest in working on content support for any version after. The prime directive is to continue focused development on 1.0.0.126.

The intent of them released via the modular, easy-to-install Content Patches created was sp that users have full control over what additional content they allow within their game.

The server may contain the working code for Ahri, for example, but if the user hosting the match does not have Ahri installed to the client, Ahri is incapable of loading to be playable for that game.

It is up to the users to customize their games as they choose, and not on the project to ever dictate.

Comparing the Spell class between the two leaks trying to figure out where the range clamping broke, I'm seeing a degradation of the codebase. It seems that only one person has been working on the project recently and his skills are not high enough. It's sad.

my guess is because lua BBs are harder to read than the converted C#

so instead of creating a tool that would make working with lua BBs easier, someone decided that converting that entire system to use C# instead would be a better use of their time

as far as i'm aware, everyone(aside from Jinx) that is currently working on this project, doesn't have any prior experience with this codebase. so most of us are simultaneously familiarizing ourselves with this codebase while also attempting to fix what we can.

i don't even know if going back to the BBsystem is worth the effort because for all I know, the logic in those systems are even more busted than the C# systems.

i don't think performance would be the main concern of using the bbsystem. my concern is it's an entirely different system with different server logic associated with it, for all we know it could be even more bug ridden than the current system.

it would be a more productive use of time to troubleshoot the nastier navigation and collision bugs right now. units that are feared have a pretty high chance of crashing the server, also navigation/pathfinding just straight locks up in certain scenarios as well. talon's W and R can straight up crash the server as well if they hit enough units.

Well, for those Twisted Treeline enjoyers out there, you'll be in luck. One of our mad engineers stuck the systems under the microscope and has been able to unhook the BT system hardcode from Map1 and get it running on Map4 additionally, allowing support for all currently-functioning Map1 bots on Map4.

Notable updates from last time to now:
- All Talents (Masteries) have been identified with comments in each of their respective scripts. Eventually, they will be added to the wiki for easier perusal. Eventually...

- An FAQ has been added to the README outlining a few common questions asked related to the project

- A default issue template has been added to make it easier for users to submit issue reports. Please use the form appropriately, any low-quality reports will be closed.

- Some changes to the way certain Spell events publish has fixed Yi's Alpha Strike, among some other spells that utilize Missiles in a similar manner. At this time, Master Yi is now at fully playable functioning status. Summoners of AP Yi rejoice, as a power once taken from them an eon ago has been rightfully returned!

- Some changes to SpellChainMissile have improved spells that chain or bounce, whether it be off enemies or allies. Ryze's E now aligns a lot more closely with the way it should function, and can now properly bounce off of Ryze to another target if Ryze is within bounce range

- Katarina Q (BouncingBlades) has been more correctly restored to its original 126 lua script state, and can now correctly bounce to the appropriate targets, the appropriate amount of times

- Anivia W (Crystallize) now corrected to respect intended min/max cast ranges of 100u/1000u, respectively

- A few fixes have now successfully enabled the Talent/Mastery system loading in full. Players and playerbots can now make full use of Mastery trees!

- The BehaviourTree system has now been enabled for use on Map4, Twisted Treeline. Bots and other entities that make use of BehaviourTrees will now be able to run on Map4. Their functional status is identical to the state of BT bots on Map1 at this time, but still, that's around 40 functioning bots now additionally functioning on Map4. A big deal.

- Bot BT also added to Map2, Map6

- Turret stats/scaling now working

You will need to install Python 3. Which is strange, as usually the setup bat should be sorting that for you.

Simpleanon's install is meant to be pretty easy for end users. Read the OP again and do anything you may have missed in regards to setting it up. Sorry I can't really provide any further assistance.

The reason League Sandbox got shut down was because only 2 people were actively working on it, and they lived in countries where a C&D from Riot did something. Some champions seem to lose their ability to autoattack. Of the ones I've noticed:
>Ashe instantly loses it the second she attacks.
>Blitzcrank loses it if he uses Power Fist and lets the buff expire without using it.
>Tryndamere lost it early but I wasn't paying attention to what caused it. Probably the same as Ashe, and if not I was able to use his E once before it stopped.
There's probably more. I've been testing every champion one by one when I have the chance.

I've only lost my ability to auto attack after getting taunted by another champion. I've noticed as well that melee champions will simply not path to towers sometimes as well, but that's a pathing issue and not an issue of autoattacking.

No and this question is asked repeatedly and answered repeatedly. Riot is literally up his ass 24/7 to the point where just the mention of the MMO's codename in a screenshot gave him a panic attack in his server and had to shut it down.
Honestly, considering his previous run-ins with Riot I can't even blame the guy. Getting fucked over with Chronoshift affairs evenw hen he had no involvement, getting the spotlight when he accidentally leaked Viego when the servers were leaking data, that time the entire year of 2022 leaked for all projects including internal ones and their schedules, champs, skins, events and all that and having Riot's infosec approach him after being silent for nearly that whole year putting up with schizos and leakers who can sing from the top of the mountains about that stuff whereas if he says a single word he gets fucked.
And just this past week he watched 2XKO fuck up and release an internal listing which is now deleted and he's having a stroke trying to figure out what to even do with that because it's an actual first for such a new game, even if it has nothing sensitive in it the guy now has to decide if he shares an accidental internal data listing with the project.
And if this wasn't bad enough he also posted a writeup of what he did to process the archive into a newer more reasonable set of tools and just the sheer amount of bullshit he had to put up with for league alone makes me respect how insane hes clearly becoming. Just reading it made me sorta concerned for the guy. i think there are multiple factors that go into why he's the only LoL archiver. You need someone with the resources to store TBs upon TBs of data. That person also needs the foresight to DL it all and back it up. They also need the drive to publicly archive that data for the sake of preservation, knowing that those archives comes at potential cost of targeted legal action.

youd be correct if you want to ensure things are saved as they were deployed. if you destructively do it, you can do so under 4tb. the reason you wouldn't want to do so is entirely because you have no idea what is or isnt actually included until you run every manifest through it. and of course this only accounts for data post-season 9. pic related is the current size

It was a different time. That was 0.8.13.26 version of league, where even Mundo just walks up, aoe taunts for 3 seconds, and activates masochism which heals him for all physical attacks.
This is also funny because people often questioned how masochism felt out of place with his actual abilities and their names, so now you know why it was named such.

The ones that came in the beta are possible. I've already done a PoC with Averdrian. Problem is the model needs to be converted into the S1 format using RiotFileTranslator plugin in an old version of Maya. The model is the only real roadblock, here.

3D is completely unknown field to me, so that'll have to be up to someone else if there's any vested interest. I can provide the original models, if there is anyone interested in assisting.

This is unfortunately the only way I got my copy of the old league working (though the graphics was incredibly messed up), I spent days on the other ones and failed despite chipping away at the progress.
The best way to go about this is probably to download the league files and keep it archived incase it ever needs resurfacing for someone else who will make something workable with it or just wait till someone eventually does sort out the lack of good user experience.

I need to mess around with how we're handling spells and spellcasting.

Xerath's W causes him to break, and from what I've found it's because it's not finishing the actual cast action.

When his W is cast, it overwrites the Spells[slot] for his W with the disable/toggle version of that spell. Which is causing the await in Spell.cs:791 to deadlock.

Since it breaks while he's in the middle of casting, the server thinks that he's always in a casting state, causing him to lose the ability to move, and cast after casting his W.
