Remnant 1 and 2 feel like two halves to a whole complete game. I recommend playing both but I don't know why 2 isn't a full throated "PLAY THIS ONE OVER THE FIRST GAME!!1", as despite the way more limited build options in the first game, there's still stuff in 1 worth seeing/experiencing.

I had a lot more fun in the endgame of Remnant 1 because of the Hell mod.

Last I heard the Beyond Hell mod for Remnant 2 was basically dead unfortunately.

Both games were great, I preferred the first one for the sheer boss count, but 2 had some of the best bosses in the series too.

I like grinding the original more since you can eventually max out all the perks if you grind hard enough

I quite liked N'Erud as well, wish we could have seen it in it's prime.

N'Erud is my favorite place to explore
I kept replaying the area over and over and couldn't get enough of it
but the moment I went to the forest hippy place I quickly lost interest in the game

I'm not sure why, but the initial info I heard of this game made me think it's some sort of post-apoc sandbox game where you get to raid other worlds for supplies. Sadly, it seems to be more of linear game.
