Welcome to /vm/abinogi. Expedition Edition!

Mabinogi is a fun, once popular little old school korean MMO from 2004 based around Celtic mythology with many different features. Your character can age, rebirth, eat food and gain weight, play and custom make music, and so much more. You can be anything and do anything all at once with no downsides. From non-combat related skills like cooking, tailoring, blacksmithing, trading goods in a commerce, carpentry, etc. to different styles of combat like melee, magic, ninja, archery, puppetry, etc. all on 1 character.

Although graphics and gameplay is still a bit dated, even after 17 years the game is still rich in content such as fashion contests, cooking contest, jousting, playing in or viewing large concerts, training pets, and so on and continues to be Nexon's most generous game.

We currently have a guild called Mabigen. Click the Guild button on your bottom menu and search for Mabigen (Case Sensitive!) in the Search Guilds tab to apply. Send a note to officers Aliceliesse or Palauiriu mentioning you are from /vm/! Or find us ingame as we mostly play on channel 4. New or old all Anons are welcome!

Drawstring pouch is probably the best thing in the shop.
Totem bag is good if you don't have a better one yet. It takes 1x1 space.
Get Brielle and Aleyn doll bags if you have space for more bags. They aren't the best but better than no bags. Also just noticed they don't have a limit to how many you can buy. Get as many as you like.
Prot stone is good too if you got anything that needs to be special upgraded. It expires though so can't save it for something later.
Rest don't really matter. You can roll some totem amulets or buy the outfits. Succubus clothes used to sell for some millions but now that they are in the event shop they are low. Maybe they'll go up in price again in time?

After the EU servers died the NA version removed the IP block for the default client since g13. Only the steam NA ver of the game remained region locked for years for some dumb reason, they only just recently made it available to dl on all regions without switching it in prep for new shart. They're never bringing back "EU" servers NA is effectively the global version for regions other than TW CN KR JP.

lol. But really I'm only playing this while taking a break from XIV until the end of the month. I wanted a game with a classless system so I could learn whatever the hell I wanted on my character and I didn't wanna play fucking skyrim for the billionth time. I remembered playing this like two decades ago when you could fuck yourself over by spending all your AP on stuff like lifeskills and playing music while having nothing left to go into combat, so I decided to check it out again.

I fully intended to play it entirely solo. I got server files to self host but I'm not sure if something was missing from my computer or if the files themselves had something missing. I could launch the game, make a character, but wasn't able to actually walk around in world since I couldn't seem to make a single channel to explore. Got on linux, downloaded the files again, tried hosting them in a virtualbox for win10 and things failed to install in a different way leading to the same issue. So I gave up and went to play the legit servers instead. Mabi hasn't really scratched the itch I was going for but I've completed g3 so far and the story is interesting at least, though it doesn't have the best writing.

Its going to be free at launch. You oay into the beta and you get currency equal to what you paid and it carries over to full release. The wipe is necessary as theyve made pretty heavy changes.

It is not an alternative to mabi but i do enjoy. Not screenshot anon though. I just play the game as a passive afk game while i play mabi. It is very idle friendly only requiring check ins like once every 15 mins.

The actual reason they gave for removing Theta was ''Low usage rates'', which when I think about it is complete bullshit. There is a huge amount of content in the game with low usage rates. Heck I'd say literally 0 usage rates. Do you remember alby battle arena? There is a battle arena in filia too. No one does this, yet it's still in the game and has been for a long time with no sign of getting removed for ''low usage rates''. In similar vein there is Maiz dungeon and the uladh castle dungeons. I have never done Dugald, Abb Neagh or any of the other castle dungeons. Compared to Theta surely there is less people playing this content and yet they remain while Theta does not.
If ''low usage rates'' is bullshit then I thought maybe they are removing Theta because they want NA to be exactly the same as KR, but that's not the case since they are adding NEW ways to obtain demo and ruin weapons instead of abandoning them or straight up removing them. There are other changes KR gets that they haven't implemented to NA too such as the recent run cap changes and shadow wizard gold nerf, so this theory holds no water either.
At this point I cannot think of a reasonable reason for the removal. Why not simply keep it in the game? Demo and ruin weapons getting MORE support really soured this, since ruin is directly tied to Theta with the enchants.

For some reason Nexon for years thought making region specific content was a good idea and they've slowly been walking it back across all of their games. Maplestory even lost an entire class because of this and I think New Leaf City and all the monsters, bosses, gear, quests, etc along with it. Other regions of Maplestory have lost stuff too and some even got merged into the main branch of the game for all regions.
Maplestory 2 I have theorized died entirely for this reason of abandoning region specific content since the KR version and NA were completely different.
