I don't understand how the cafe works. I understand that I have to craft Furniture. I don't understand how the furniture affects students. Do students require specific furnitures?

you can just get the comfort level to max, doesnt matter which furniture. each character have a specific animation depending on the furniture placed

Furniture increases your comfort level, and comfort level increases how fast you get money and AP back. Certain students have special animations with certain types of furniture. In a recent JP update (it'll release with the Railgun collab in GL) they made it so that if you have a student's preferred furniture out, you're more likely to have that student visit your cafe.

Okay, I downloaded for hanako titties but I'm playing through the main story and it's genuinely engaging. Finished 2 chapters of volume 1 and 1 chapter of Vol 2. The story maps aren't engaging though do act as a nice playground to get a feel for the characters. But the actual story is fun. I enjoy how (You), Sensei, don't overcentralize the story, but you have influence and authority to give the kids a nudge in a direction that drives the plot. It's fun stuff.

There is a singular instant in the main story where they level gate you so don't neglect to spend all your AP to level up. 1AP = 1XP.

The gameplay in mission mode is absolutely braindead when you are overlevel, so I auto it while doing something else. It's passable when you actually need to play to win. You can also just use the sweep function to level up if you don't want to engage with that.

Should you pull for Marina? Is she a good unit? Heard something about her being a decent PVP tank. I have Cherino, so i had thoughts about running her with Marina and Minori for bonuses from Cherino's cost recovery increase. Is it worth it, or are the bonuses too miniscule?
As far as i understand, we'll have limited banner with sports Yuuka in 3ish(?) weeks after current banner, so maybe it's just better to save for it.

I don't see her in pvp too often myself. The bonus is not worth it since using other students is simply better. Also Marina isn't limited either so if you get lucky you will get her at some point. So yes, saving for Yuuka is a better idea.

the girls are super cute, amazing art and voice acting, the story seems really great from what I could gather playing the game for a week, I enjoyed the "dates" with the girls, very fun interactions; the gameplay is really good, it's fun to create well working formations and use the abilities
but, Jesus Christ, the game is insanely convoluted with all of these bells and whistles
also the music is fantastic, I still play the tracks occasionally even though I don't play the game

Try clearing the story to unlock your cafe upgrades because you lvl up your account by spending energy.
Also remember that pity resets each banner so sometimes you want to save up 200 rolls just to be sure.

Aru is really good and Shun is a must for pvp if you care about that. Tsurugi and Neru are okay but they are tanks anyway so they won't deal that much damage. Never used Sumire but i think she is pretty irrelevant...
The best students in the game are from limited anniversary banners i'm afraid.
Supports give like 10% of their attack and hp stats and 5% of the rest to your main students as a buff. But i might be wrong on the exact numbers.
But lvls also increase stats like healing so it makes Serina heal for more for example. Some support students also deal damage with their skills so their attack matters too.

Decent enough. Aru is top tier. Shun is strong for PvP and general clearing. Tsurugi is good with her unique equipment - pick her for headpatting and get her to 15. Neru and Yuuka are both solid tanks. Overall, you're in good shape.

To be fair, in BA the PvP shop can give you an extra 90 AP every day, which is really good. Especially if you stock it and save for events and refresh 4 times for 360 extra AP. Fortunately you get enough to buy the AP every day just from joining PvP, even if you lose every time.

Cherino is great, Kazusa is fine if you don't have Mika, Tsubaki is a great tank, Serina has a cheap heal so she's also good.

Striker Cherino is fantastic. Nonomi is also a pretty solid yellow attacker. You'll be using Haruna, Chise and Bunny Akane for clearing all of the Mission stages with prominent Blue armor enemies (after you hit mission 10 almost every stage after that has blue armor). Tasubaki and Hoshino are both fairly solid tanks. Yuuka and Eimi are both good tanks as well once you get their relationships to 15 and unlock their unique item. You'll need at least two built tanks, but you'll really want 3. There's a lot of stages where you'll need 2 or sometimes 3 different parties.

For Supports, Kanna is decent, but more for raids and boss fights, so less important while you're getting through missions and such. I wouldn't worry about leveling her until you feel comfortable tacking a Yellow raid. Cherino (Hot Springs) will be fairly useful for clearing Red content. She gets better when you get her relationship to 15 and unlock her unique item. Mari and Serina are both GOAT supports. You'll level them up and use them a lot. Utaha has some uses, but I'd hold off on her until you see a need for her.

I don't really mind the level gate. There's really just the one and a bit of one on Volume F. Without that people could just view the entire story without ever pulling on the gacha or even playing the game at all, since the story chapters give you characters. I had to look up how to restore AP on youtube and it wasn't till I clicked on some icon on the top right of the home screen that I found out I could get Nonomi and there were beginner quests.

Neru grew on me, but she's meh as a unit, melts way too quickly
Sumire is ok when you need a piercing filler unit
Shun and Hasumi are sex
Nonomi is the GOAT piercer, love the TF2 heavy vibe from her.
Red Yuuka is unfortunately just worse than blue Yuuka.
Chinatsu is probably far from the best healer but she works for me.

The SSR pull rates are pretty good compared to most other gachas, but the character-specific SSR pull rates are not great. Meaning, you often will have to keep playing and hoarding 24k pyrox to guarantee a character via the pity system.

Also the pyrox are pretty expensive to buy. Meaning that you'll want to play regularly and be picky about who you roll for, to ensure maximum F2P friendliness. The game does hand out decent amount of pyrox over time to active players though. It's the casual inactive players who suddenly want specific characters that suffer the most.

It's been a fairly boring ride with rare ups ever since volume F. Like the devs have no idea where to go and have been stalling for time while pushing out more uninspired events and main story chapters than not. Did the popularity get to them and they think they can get away with lacklustre content because the newfags wouldn't know any better? Are things finally coming to a head between the shared development of Nexon+Yostar and the increased popularity has them fighting for slices of the pie?
I... don't really know, I don't really want to care. I'm just here to have a good time with my students and I've not been getting that for a while. JPniggers keep promising how FUCKING KINO V1C3 is despite the absolutely horrifying looking schedule of a content drip and I've been apprehensive to even dare to begin to read the prologue and hope.
Or maybe the game just isn't for me anymore. hard to say, there are some who say the content has barely changed. So the novelty from having fun with a unique, unchanging setting is lost after 3 years with it.

Bit of a meme term but I like it the most because of how "organic" it is in building the team together. V1/2/4/5 all fall into a pitfall of expecting me to care about a group and their students just because they are cute girls with cute quirks. Admittedly, they are expecting that because (You) are Sensei. Even though Sensei's existence is guided by a single "always stand by students" rule that flip-flops hard depending on characterization and context that it feels like he plays favourites while shutting down students emotions that don't follow his viewpoint. But I digress.
V3C1 did it all, a reasonable excuse to put a rag-tag group of students together, those 4 students and their initial chemistry, how their initial social shells bounce off each other, how they treat their shared goal, how they slowly warm up to each other and ease into a comfortable and familiar social dynamic, how, with gusto, they now work hard together towards a shared goal...
It all melds together into a very enthralling narrative that sticks to my mind all this time. And that's despite the fact that V3's group is outwardly the least interesting at first glance among all volumes (to me).

Those are actually good choices, RW Library also surprised me with how fun it was. On the other side events that I hyped for recently Train event actually really disappointed me.

Though if I were to make a cynical and blunt guess about it, it does feel like one of the more "banner selling" stories. Kasumi bent the whole narrative around herself and while there was foreshadowing from RW Onsen about how capable she was, this all came out as a very "look how awesome she is, please roll her now!" story. Ichika felt fairly classic as the "closed eyes, hidden feelings" character but was mostly there, together with Iori for Kasumi to bounce off on, but the interactions don't really feel that interesting other than Kasumi going "Eh heh look how secretly deep and awesome and cuhrazy and random (but smart!) I am!". Oh and sensei wringing his hands I guess.

My biggest problem with that chapter was the overall premise just doesn't work. The SRT students are missionaries and are incredibly prideful of the principles of the school. They didn't do anything to make a convincing case for the Fox Squad to abandon the principles for the sake of reviving the school. Kaya wanted the Fox Squad to use the very nuke they secured to keep the peace in Kivotos, one of their biggest accomplishments, to blow up the city. People's desire to restart a school can't be that strong that they'd trample all over what principles and accomplishments it brought forth. And they never established why it was so important to bring back that school as opposed to starting a new one.

But the Fox being jobbers, this was explained a bit. It was a combination of being overly arrogant and wanting to show off in front of their underclassmen on top of wanting them to beat them.

Today is always the best time, tomorrow's the second best.
But if you're the powerful sort of autist with willpower and patience to spare: our anniversary will be just a month away I believe. That's when we get highly limited Fes students and doubled gacha rates for that period of time. Creating an account then and rerolling wouldn't be too bad.
Though, starting now so that you can prepare for the anni isn't too bad of an idea either I'd say. It's your call.

Not sure if there is an easy way to answer this. But we do have students that are the cornerstone of most teams. They are support students that hyperbuff a singular DPS student to create hypercarry teams that enable highscore clears and usually more comfy clears.
But recent raids have been falling into a sort of "question and answer" sort of format where they'll throw a unique mechanic at you and you'll have to answer with certain students (while still using aforementioned hyper supports and DPS students) or risk being wiped. So you can't throw a one size fits all meta team at any problem in the game and get away with it.
I might be digressing too far into very late game content, but I'd figured it's something that makes sense to discuss when it comes to meta, since the rest of the game can be cleared with any team as far as I know.

I honestly still couldn't find any emotional investment in any of the ongoing plotlines we have so far. It's just "stuff that happens" to me at the moment. I'm hoping it'll change.
Though I personally think I should have done what the other anon did and just left it off at Volume F. It was as fine an ending to a story as any other. I dread that we might reach the point of a service game where it's obvious the writers have no idea where to go, so they just meander and drag and dangle carrots (plot points) in front of your face just so they can pull it away from you with some ass pull.
... Which might explain why I'm also more emotionally distanced from the story at the moment. Hard to say. But what I read so far doesn't seem to be proving my paranoia wrong in any way. So I'll try to stay apathetic about it.
It is nice that production values have been visibly increasing, though.
Event wise, the only thing that really captured me in 2024 was Red Winter comiket. Absolutely adored the story and the character dynamics. However, the ending sequence, while acknowledged as shoehorned and intentionally instigated, still felt stupid and weak. But doesn't serve to detract from the very solid character work we had.
No comment on the other events.

I do want to accelerate and close the gap. But I'm fine with it either way, we've been on the 6 months standard for a while after all. In the end, it's up to the devs if they choose to do it, and if they do it well.
Though, I'm pretty prepared if they choose to do it poorly. I've seen how gook devs handle acceleration after all.

what's your standard for "stuff that happens"? BA is not the type of story that relies on a grand narrative but relies on character dialogue and dynamics to move it forward, much less on a live service game.

You're not alone. I've been growing increasingly disillusioned with Blue Archive's story and felt like it's been just slogging along. Vol F's ending would've been a fine place to leave the story on with a few tweaks if this weren't a live service game and most of the "serious" stories haven't been doing it for me. I'm still having some fun with the side events but the "main" story volumes since F have all been big misses for me so it's hard for me to continue caring about the plot. I liked BA's narrative for a while because it had a fairly good balance of SoL to serious and executed it alright. V1C3 especially let me down hard since I liked Abydos.

If the next main story chapter is a disappointment, I'm probably going to start skipping them and just enjoy the event writing. Most of those still tend to be alright.

Of note: Devs will be attempting acceleration to a 3 month gap instead of the 6 month gap between Global and JP.
Be careful with your pyroxene rolling plans and raising plans in the meantime. We aren't certain how well they'll handle acceleration and how much they'll compensate us for doing so.

I quit the game a long time ago because it was frankly awful to play on phone, especially also the raids requiring more and more precise targeting, which is absolutely impossible on phone. But on PC... it might just be working with a mouse and most importantly much bigger screen.

It's fairly hard to make a tierlist for BA because it's content cycle is based around creating situational battles that require team building and synergy to get through for the most part.
Though, that does mean that tiers are usually determined by "who gets used the most across highlevel/endgame content" from what I understand.
And you already have one of them. Himari as I see it on the screenshot. Mika/AHoshino/TShiroko are also all bluefes units and intentionally overtuned to perform well in those content.
Sorry, I digress. Anyways, I see this jp tier list get posted from time to time on some places. Perhaps you can get some mileage out of this?
