any mobile games that are actually good? like a real game, not a gacha or one of these microtransaction heavy games. I don't care if theres an upfront cost to "own" the game. I already bought FFT War of the Lion and KOTOR1/2. Anything you'd recommend?

Huntdown. It's solid and isn't terribly long either. It also has a bitching soundtrack

Check old flash devs, even if their current games aren't an apps they're often optimized to work as such when added as a shortcut directly to the home screen.

https://www.skipmore.com/ (plenty of choice)

There is Atelier Reslania but it's closing global (I don't know about other servers). Otherwise there is the witchspring series, which are premium games. The crafting isn't nearly as complex as any other atelier game, it mostly boils down to getting a few ingredients, craft an item and use it on yourself to increase stats, there is also spell crafting. They are really nice games, the first one is different from the other three as it has a time limit (it's probably the most smilar to an atelier game), the others have a similar sctructure that gets improved upon with every release. Although they all contain callbacks to the other games, you can start with anyone, they are pretty much self contained. I started with the second one for example

>playing real mobile games based on shitty touch controls
why, whats the point. at that point you might as well just emulate shit for better games with a controller that you can play on the go

Touch controls aren't shitty. Obviously they're not suitable for every game genre but they can work perfectly well for others.

What's wrong with them? A touchscreen is a formidable input device, beats playing on a flip phone keyboard (though java games were better made overall). Gyro controls are fun, too.

Touch controls isn't exclusive to mobile. But feel free to go back to gaming on your thinkpad like it's 2004 while we have fun trying things out with newer tech.

Iโ€™ve been playing this game called Rogue Slime. Itโ€™s pretty short but itโ€™s cute, and you can play it offline. It also receives updates every now and then

I've been playing Balatro on my phone a lot lately. I'm usually pretty picky when it comes to mobile ports, but it works really well with touch controls.

>any mobile games that are actually good?
Buriedbornes and Buriedbornes 2. The 2nd one is better, but some people get filtered by ability uses. Also, it generally takes longer to play the 2nd one once you really get into it.

>I don't care if theres an upfront cost to "own" the game.
Then just buy mobile ports of games that you already know are good, like you did with WotL and KoToR.

Magic Survival

Pretty epic roguelike, bullet-hell-like, kinda like vampire survivors. Loads of magical combination and artifacts to make you feel powerful. Art style is simple but very fitting

The core gameplay is free, microtransactions only allows you to unlock permanent upgrades faster, but not at all necessary. Ads too, but I think its worth supporting the dev because he pumps out updates fairly frequently.
