Guardian Tales is a top-down action/adventure game with rich stories and fun puzzles. The game offers various game modes such as: coop game modes, special guild events (raids) and PvP (arena&colosseum).
The character portraits are nice and the combat/game animation are pleasant. The gacha is very generous for new players, but it can be a bit overwhelming for newbies to figure out what resources to prioritize through mid-end game.

Doesn't it take too long to get the red stones for all six weapons? You can't get 1,000 stones in a month even by buying coffee.

I think it's a terrible strategy ascend the meta characters first. When it comes time to ascend the other characters, why bother wasting resources?

Eunha is best overall investment and Daisy is god-like tank in all game modes. Callie is used in a lot of stuff too. After those three, it rly depends on modes and teams you play. J for example is arena core rn. Clara, AA72 and Kamael are really good in arena while also being raid cores. Gabriel is really good in colosseum while also being raid core, same with Arabelle.

I just did my run to 400 today with this team and full-auto the whole time. The only floors that took a few retries were 370 and 390(switched to 1x speed+auto for 390), but other than that the handful of times the team failed just meant it was time to use the built up exp and go back in.

That's gacha problem in general, especially ones running for over half a decade. I recently started PGR, and I had a massive whiplash from all the shit going on in that game.

As a new player what should I invest in, which of the resource dungeons should I spend my daily boosts on? I've just been putting resources into knight because the event is giving rewards for doing so. Do these free/story heroes drop off hard?

Knight is ok investment, since he got Ascension. Which makes him viable in pvp and an ok pick in other modes. But outside of Karina, Craig and maybe Knight, Elvira rare heroes drop rly hard.
As for what to spend cofee on, I would say Evolution Dungeon and Item Dungeon (since you could sell level-up hammers later for gold) are the main 2 ones.
Which modes are you intrested in the most? This would help with understanding who to pull for.

Updated newbie guide from last thread:

Take it easy and step by steps.

New players/Beginner:
Main priority:
A) Be consistent with your dailies/weeklies.
B) Make a solid first team.
C) Progress Story as far as you can.
D) Upgrade Heavenhold as much as possible (+Reach Guardian level 300).

Daily:
Collect resources of the Inn and Guardian Base Camp.
Retrieve coffee from the mail, try not to spend it all at once.
Guild tasks if in guild.
Seasonal Event tasks. (If available)
Awakening Stone Dungeon (X3).
Evolution Dungeon (X10) - (+ spare coffee).
Colo - at least 3.
Coop - 2 each days for weekly maximum. (1 is ok if not grinding).
PvP - once per week for minimum reward, or climb as high as you can.
Do the Civil Affairs Center Tasks once unlocked.
It's OK to spend 250 gems for 100 coffee.

Weekly:
Claim gem reward from Colo and PvP.
Inventory>Evolution stone exchange (for hero crystals) + Stone Synthesis (Do all the stones you can)

Bi-Weekly:
Boss rush - check ranking to see comp used, try to hit as high as possible.

Monthly:
Buy the 300 magic metal epic exclusive, do not spend 900 on the bi-weekly or epic accessory (yet)

Later:
Use spare coffee to farm Tetis book once you have 1-2 teams at level 95, follow youtube guide on how to properly farm.
Use spare coffee in Gold Dungeon to extract Magic Metal for weekly Green Hammers.
(You SHOULD first complete your gear collection grey-blue-orange-yellow rarity first before farming for green hammers with gold.)

Tetis Coin: Mainly for Books of Blessing (late game), beginner should farm to get LPF(x1-3), SSB(x4), MVMCB(x1-2), MPTT(x1-3), IMR (x4)
Battle Medals: Farm to for Minotaur Necklace (core raid gear) and MPB (high priority defensive item).
Huntsman's Memento: Buy cards, get Goblin Shields, Shadow Beast Bracelet (raid).
Stellar Essence: Bought with Huntsman's Memento, needed to max level Karina, Craig, Knight, Elvira.
Hero Myth Stones: Late game, for high priority heroes only.
Magic Metal: Mostly used late game to farm Green Hammers. Completing equipment collection should be done first.
Red Shards: For engraved EX weapons only. Very late game, high priority heroes only.
Dream Evolution Stones: Use to buy Normal Hero Evolution Stones. Evolving Normal Heroes is good for your collection bonus in the long run.
Star Piece: Save them to unlock Story levels, spend some at the store only if you have plenty.
Arcane Stone/Dust: Roll relic stats.
Jewels: you only need one, grind the rest and upgrade it.

At your own pace:
Story and Side Story: (Get the cards and get new followers on SNS!)
All the Tower levels in the "Challenge" tab of Play: Can bring a decent amount of resource, can help when stuck on story progression.
Farm and Monster Ranch: You can get a small resource bonus by farming plots.
Collection Bonus: makes a difference in the long run, collect grey, blue, orange, yellow gears and evolve them to achieve as many collection as possible.
If you can spare some gems for Hero-Weapon skins, try to complete collection set, it also provides global stat bonus.

If you are going to spend, I'd say World Clear Pass are ok.
But the monthly gem bonus is the best investment in the long run.

That's about all.

Try to get the new tank hero, she's going to be the new meta tank. Craig and Future Princess are also great new player tank, but if I were you I'd take the opportunity to start with Daisy.

Note: Survivability is usually preferred over damage potential under most circumstances except for instances with time constraints, like Guild Raid it's preferable to have high damage units with synergy.

Other good versatile units:
Kamael - Very strong overall unit used in many game modes.
Euhna - Best overall healer - colo/raid/story mainly.
Karina - Very good healer used in many game modes.
Future Knight w/Cosmic Destroyer - Versatile range dps used in various modes.
Plague Doctor/Beth - Solid melee dps used in various modes.

The meta might change somewhat with the introduction of Mythical evolution for late game players.
I can only suggest those as safe future proof choices, the rest is either too specific (Andras for example), difficult to predict the full potential of heroes who don't have Hero Myth Evolution yet.

The purple coin currency/shop doesn't reset. The gold cubes are also limited, but can be found in shop rotations, etc. You want to save them for Coffee Grinders so you can permanently increase your max stamina/coffee capacity to 90.

I faced a similar team again and rng does screw you over if/when Craig or Daisy dive the back line instead of meeting in the middle so your ranged units are safe. Can you tell if a unit is good or not by looking at the stats preview or is there more hidden mechanics/interactions that a stat sheet like this won’t show. It seems like the game meta is drain tanks?

Sadly, imo, Season 1 and the first half of Season 2 are the best parts of the game. There are some good worlds here and there after that, but they're not as good

she was never under any control, she joined the invaders willingly because she/LP were groomed to become a host body for their ancient "hero" queen, and said queen isn't particularly benevolent. There was an anon complaining about tanks diving the backline in Colosseum so I looked into it after I started to notice it too. It turns out Ranged units target the nearest enemy(can overlap) and Melee/Support units(Tanks) target the closest untargeted enemy (with some special exceptions). That means that if your party leader is Ranged and the enemy Tank is in the front they are the first to be targeted and your Tank will target the next unit which could be in the backline. It also depends on your party order so if you have another Melee unit ahead of your Tank they will take the next closest enemy and your Tank will go for the next(which can be even further away) and so on. That means if you manipulate the order and placement of your team you can guarantee the first moves in a match and create an easy win or eat a total defeat even in imbalanced matches.
>Example:
Here my Daisy is set up to target their Eunha because my leader Eunha/Gab has their Craig targeted first, and their Craig targets my Eunha because all their ranged units start off targeting my Daisy. Because I set my Daisy closer to their Eunha she will taunt before their Craig which means I can pull him and aggro all their units away from my backline for an easy win. Something else to mention is targeting resets after a unit uses a skill/finishes their attack string so if they are taunted that's when they will start attacking the tank. That also means Tanks will reset their initial targeting after taunting and go for the closest untargeted unit. Their Craig gets immediately aggro'd but has to do his taunt before turning around to target Daisy who is already moving to the next untargeted unit in their backline because Craig is still targeted.
TLDR: It's not bugged and I finally understand Colo targeting now.

How much stats are expected for the level 100 shard dungeon? These guys are way too tanky and spread out. Is there a farmable source of hero shards for limit breaking other than myth dungeon?

Convert excess hero shards to HC in the inventory, rate is 40 = 1 for 3* and 80 = 1 for 2*. Before Myth update that is the only way outside of rolling to get them.

It re-rolls every stat. When you randomly get a max stat roll that you want to keep(not all are useful) you need to use Option Lock stones to lock that stat and keep re-rolling the rest. The lock stones are very valuable/slow to accumulate so use them wisely.

You only really need multiple full teams if you want to do mid to late game content like Boss Rush, Guild Raid/Dungeon Kingdom Arena, Colo counter teams (if things ever return to normal), etc. Tetis needs 8 fully built heroes if you want to get far. There's also Tower of Horizon which needs teams made up of each element type only. It's a slow grind no matter what so you just need to pick the content you want to focus on and make a gameplan.

There were only 3 stages initially but they made them easier and added up to stage 5. When they did they reset the progress/rewards. For that last stage just play aggressively while dodging the bullets from the side androids.

Are you also using the right point allocations? Dark melee is basically just waiting for Beth and Callie to ult twice to get the shields and knockback going and then one-sidedly steamrolling everything else on the floor. If you're failing even with that, then it's probably because your Beth and Callie are dying before they can get their second ults (happens all the time on light stages) and I'd suggest maybe dropping some DPS relics/accesories/cards for more survivability options.

MLB LP merch on Beth, Callie and one other unit is mandatory. On light stages, I put PD on first slot to soak up a bit of damage to get at least Beth to ult twice, Callie often doesn't. Cards on the two are atk on kill and it almost doesn't matter what the rest of the team is running as long as they're all dark element.

No, the benefit in damage you get from maxxing her this way isn't good. Depending in what mod you want to play her.

In raid:
see pic for lead, if not lead switch mino necklace for Shadow Beast Bracelet (all non lead should have one)

In arena/dm:
You want more survivability, earth necklace is a must have for the negation effect, then candle relic stat either crit/sdmg/def. Card either def or sdmg. If you go for skill damage then use LP statue merch to get dmg reduction, otherwise mad panda brooch is more versatile.

In colo:
She isn't the best unit for leading, so I use her as a support. Earth necklace is again great for defense and bonus heal, vendince machine merch, heal card and candle with heal stat.

Last point:
Collection bonus adds a lot of permanent stats to all your heroes. It usually is what makes the difference between players with the same gears.

She's still pretty good thanks to her insta stun WS but she can't keep up with Arabelle's faster AoE WS. Any Eunha team I win versus Arabelle is either with dumb luck or sheer stat difference. She also gets hounded down by Beth who will at least disrupt your backline if she can't outright kill her. Being Beth bait does make her really good in Idol Eva teams, though.

Imo the list would be something like this:
For the old heroes, original arts of Eunha, AA72, Kamael, Arabelle, Clara, Bianca are better than myth.
Beth, Gab, Lucy myths are 50/50, I like some aspects of them but not all (I would still say Jap original Beth art is better looking).
And Idol Eva myth is better.

For the new heroes, I like Callie and J myth arts more.
Daisy and Cruciel are 50/50 (depends on the mood lol).
For Xiaoman, original is better.
I don't own Randy and Rie, I would say they're also kind of 50/50.

So overall almost all old hero Myths are misses but some of new ones are good.

I couldn't care less.
