Double weakness
Double weakness

One thing I tend to hate in gachas is that elements are king but single focused. A fire enemy? Use your water team. So I made a type chart where everything has 2 weaknesses or resistances. Now for that fire enemy you can use a water team or a wind team. Or a mix of both. It would also give the option of say a Fire character that's designed to work with Ice teams

Wind can't beat fire. It's green.

Now add holy/unholy, which are respectively vulnerable against half of the worldly elements and strong against the other half, invertedly, as well as lore specific reasons for it.

I don't think I've seen a gacha with 6 element wheel like that. You either have a triangle (red>green>blue>red) or square (red>green>yellow>blue>red) and a separate duo (light<>dark) that may or may not be slightly stronger than the other set. Sometimes an extra element that is either neutral or strong against everything but is enemy only.

Just use your light/dark party and ignore everything.

Now each element has 3 inherent weaknesses/vulnerabilities. Holy controls the domain of the celestial worldly elements (lightning, fire, ice) and is strong against them. Unholy corrupts the earthly world elements (water, wind, earth) and is strong against them. They are each weak to the respectively opposite celestial/earthly worldly allignments and against against each other.

Now we'll want some status effects each element can apply. We'll divide those into tier 1 and tier 2 - tier 2 statuses can be applied when two conditions are met: the battle takes place in an elementally advantageous location (Think icy mountains for ice or a decayed crypt attuned to unholy energies), and the recipient is not an elementally strong opposition.(Those are limited to only receiving t1 status effects). In addition, holy and unholy can only receive t1 status effects except by their counterparts.

And then release a "null type" faction that does 1x damage to everything that breaks the game anyway

I hate opposed elements with all my life. like they could be called in any way that means something different from each other.
Darkness <---> Light
Salt <---> Pepper
total <---> partial
sausage <---> steak
coliflower <---> broccoli

Really good statuses names btw
