There's collectors in all card games. Even if they wanted to sell off competitive cards at a higher price the way pokemon prints cards wont allow for that. Even the best competitive cards have regular ex/rare prints, not just hyper secret rares. Whereas yugioh staples can be secret rare tier ONLY, there's no alternative print workaround there. If the only way you could use dragapult was the SIR version then you'd see yugioh tier prices, maybe higher because collectors would also be swiping them up.

As a long time yugioh player it's awful considering Japan prints multiple rarity for even the best cards so you can still get a game changing staple in like common or high rarity compared to spending 450$ for a playset of the newest staple just so your not at a genuine disadvantage because your not running it, then of course the only other printing of a card in secret is like qcr or starlight, so your options are the case hit or short printed
The only game that beats yugioh in max rarity prices is probably weiss

You need to understand everything your deck is capable of and ask yourself what the best play is while your opponent is taking their turn. Thinking of the ideal play should lead you through the possible backup plans. Next you need to take your ideal play and ask if it’s a real possibility. If you fez for 3, are you really hitting Iono + CC + an out to scream tail or is playing the research just a more realistic route? If you don’t hit those 3 cards, do you have a chance to win anyway? Playing more games will give you a better understanding of what the deck is capable of and what your odds look like at any given time. Repetition will also help you understand matchups.

It'll be printed a bunch, probably in another set and in theme decks. It's currently in prize packs and will very likely be in the next series of prize packs as well.

It happens plenty with staple cards. Earthen vessel was nearly $5 a copy at one point. Arven, despite being printed into the ground in multiple sets, theme decks, and prize packs, is still $2+ a copy.

You don't need it on command all the time. You happen to draw into it and can just delete 2 of their tools, that's a lot of value. In air balloon meta they will be used as the pivots
Like are you forgetting gardevoir is the best deck right now? You can 2+ prize turn that with an item now instead of a stadium. A lot of decks would love to run jamming tower but it hurts their own tools/means they can't use another stadium, these tool(+stadium sometimes) removing items are usually always a 1 off in decks

Generally the stevens deck is mostly metagross itself, mew ex and clefairy ex as attackers. And carbink on the bench to reduce damage. It's got potential to accelerate energy to more metal/psychic pokemon in future but those are the main ones used now

yw, if you want tips to play a known deck we could lend you a hand
for now ill tell you this
a. identify your win conditions. know what the power in the deck stems from and how you get it.
b. build up. your first one or 2 turns, depending on the deck, should be used for building up. sometimes you can rush in for a quick kill, but unless you know if the pokemon in front of you is core or just extra, you should instead use your energy cards on another pokemon, or at least use the evo tm
c. even after you identified your wincon and built your bench a bit, don't forget that plans are meant to be fluid. you need to adapt according to the game flow, and not just stick to your original plan. notice the state of the enemy. know when you need to hit hard and when you are facing a lure to bring your ex pokemons in for easy kill next turn.

Cheapest are penny sleeves, they're fine for storage but a ballache to stack as a deck or shuffle.
Dragon Shield Matte are solid. £10-15 for a box of 100 will do you two decks if you're willing to share the staples, maybe even three. Personally I prefer dual matte for aesthetics but if you're not fussed then regular matte are cheaper and shuffle just as well.
Don't bother with ETB sleeves unless you want to double-sleeve them.

The damage is awful. And you cannot line up incentives for your opponent like that. Say you invest 6 energy on this piece of shit, 5 psychic and 1 dark, to do 180 damage. That means you didn’t attach to munkidori this turn, so I’m assuming you’d be lucky to have one adrenabrain available to you. That’s 210 damage, so that’s a knockout if you can counter catcher their fez. Great, that’s the ideal scenario. But it’s gardevoir, and your opponent already has multiple incentives to now knock out the active. Clearing munki or gardy or fez is so much more valuable to them already, and now you’re letting your energy get stuck on a shit attacker, possibly stranding your gardevoir, and their not bothering with your gimmick. I'm looking to unload these and I'm wondering if it's worth my time (and money on sleeves, toploaders, envelopes, etc) to piece it out and sell it online or to just go to a local dealer and get a cash offer for all of it. Nothing is in mint condition, but nothing is in terrible condition, either. I know a bit about grading and I'd wager that they would come back anywhere between a PSA 5 and 7. Just don't know if you see anything here that's crazy valuable (like over $50).
