I guess I'll also post a tier list of mons I used during the playthrough and how I'd tier them to make the thread look marginally less dead/empty since I took a (possibly indefinite) hiatus from the Reborn LP

Last time I was going in circles in this godforsaken mountain picking up Mega stones and other misc items and later on tackle the Glass Factory proper.
A somewhat long-ish Puzzle involving two Eeveelutions and a fight against Aster later, me and the team fought a brainwashed duo of Cain and Shelly (12v6) not difficult but I definitely wasn't at my best.

This fucking place really needs a Fly spot or something, sure it's not difficult to get here but I backtracked more times than I would like to admit.
Also, this is another episode of "backtracking to Buy/Get the proper Seed for the fight" all over again (I had 5 of each seed except for Synthetic seeds, great)

A shopping spree montage later, we are here, again, for the 4th time maybe.
Seismitoad with a Synthetic seed spamming Surf goes stupid.
And the fight is over... or so I thought, Zel pulled an Uno Reverse card and did... something i guess...?
Now we are fighting an almost mono Dark Team without the chance to change leads, pretty easy outside of Weavile and the typical Sucker Punch spamming Crow.
Here I genuinely thought "it's over, right?" Only to fight YET ANOTHER 12v6 with only Delphox and Excadrill without items.
Damn, that sucks...
I should probably use only one Weather instead of trying to build 2 teams in one lol. I already suggested Gorebyss as a replacement for Seismitoad (granted the Elec immunity is nice) and maybe add Scizor (plays well in either Rain or Sand)
Now I just need to figure out how to deal with this 30v6 nonsense

Fair enough, there's a few dialog-heavy segments like the Pulse Hypno, which might turn off some people (the same could be said about the puzzles)

There's like 2 characters that actually want to die: Corey (which... you know) and Amaria and even that could be debated (maybe 4 if we count Titania and maybe Kiki..?) While the rest of the cast is either pretty nihilistic yet still functional individuals to some extend (Titania comes to mind) or broken yet trying to move forward despite their issues (Cain and Cal are my best example) then there's a few outliers like Julia and/or Terra which are more light-hearted and mostly played up for comedic effect.
Granted, a lot of the cast ends up talking in a sorta philosophical way/delving into moral questions (Amaria, Titania, Radomus, Luna, and later on Bennet and Sapphira to some extend)
I can see how that might get old to what I'm generously going to assume is the average Rom-Hack/Fan-game consumer, which is only here for the battles.
Personally, I like it. It's not perfect, and it's certainly not Chrono Trigger or idk Final Fantasy 6/7 Tier writing, but I'm enjoying the experience so far.

After dealing with the 30v6, there's a flashback showing wtf happened, and then we are in the VOID. Probably not the FF5 or the Gen 4 Void, tho. It might sound extremely Zoomer-ish, but this place looks like the Deep Dark Biome in Minecraft, I'm dead serious.
Then, after a section that felt straight out of Lisa the First, we fought the Pulse Hypno.
As I was reading through the field's effect, I was like, "How tf do I even kill this thing?" Then I remembered i had Destiny Bond Sharpedo, R.I.P Weird Hypno.
At long last, we can finally go to Agate City, only to deal with more Team Meteor stuff including a fair, 1v1 (or rather 6v6 singles) battle against Solaris (kinda easy desu) and pursuing Lin only to be literally yeeted aside. At least the city is free, and I can get my 17 gym badge and yet another sticker for the Obsidia Dept. Store...

Firstly, i went for the Manectric sticker. I was joking with the 999 comment, but I was genuinely surprised when i saw this puzzle... It took like an hour to figure it out. Hell, i even pulled a pen and some random paper to solve this puzzle... At least the loot was sweet.

This gym was such a joke, dunno what i was expecting fighting a Mono-Rock team with a half rain-half sand team... poor Hardy got destroyed by the rain boosted Surf spam. The only thing worth mentioning about the gym is that i'm musically inept. Who would've thought... From this point on, Meteor Grunts now use Pulse2 A.K.A 2nd Gen Stall Syndrome (252 EVs in every stat), ramping the difficulty
even more (doesn’t help that the fights in Labradorra are mostly doubles), then pretty much all of the relevant characters unite to end Team Meteor once and for all.

Took a bit of time to re-breed Sharpedo (the fucker had a literal 0 atk IV) so I needed a Field/Water 1 Mon (Wailmer in this case) to transfer IVs to the new and improved Sharpedo. Got 2 Shinies, one is pic rel, later got a 6IV Male Wailmer, neat.

After all of that we can finally deal with Zero and the Pulse Clawitzer and oh boy if was difficult, fucker is FAST and snowballs quickly with Contrary on top of dealing with my least favorite group of Dark mons in Weavile, Honchkrow and Umbreon with all the priority/sucker punch mind games/Stall fest that comes with those.
Basically I had to chesse the fight with X items, Buffing Sharpedo to levels never seen before...

Honestly, I think I lost part of my SOUL against this thing. It's Dark/Ghost with Wonder Guard/entrainment/Instruct with a shit ton of Defense AND Leftovers, that's bullshit.
Toxic is a no brainer since Delphox/Excadrill can tank Aromatisse attacks the problem is that I didn't had the Toxic TM, correct me if I'm wrong but this thing is can be lost due to how the Side Quest to get the TM works... so I had brought back Garbodor for the Toxic shenanigans + a bit of Healing spam to offset the damage. Once the Pulse Mime is dead the fight is pretty straight forward.
Rn about to enter the tournament thingy with my least favorite character in Reborn.

Pretty much yeah, it's kinda funny how easy this fight is after dealing with Amaria/Titania.
Hell, even the first Julia fight was harder than this.

I really tried to finish Pokémon Empyrean, because I heard good things about the postgame stuff and the EoE quests, but once I got to the part where you travel to the future with Crow I just didn't care about the plot anymore. Most of the boss battles so far have just felt like "out-DPS the DPS", and the worldbuilding, while interesting in concept and presenting some cool ideas, really falls flat because of the writing of the game. Part of me still wants to push through and give the postgame a try, but I feel like I need a big break from the game to do that.

I like Blitz's progression into a more respectable rival, but it also doesn't feel too earned. I liked the scenes with him and Yara when you go to the nightclub, but Blitz feels almost like a different character before and after that. There's no real "development" that happens on-screen, the change happens invisible and very suddenly. Moira's character development makes absolutely zero sense. I get that she has some sort of inferiority complex that leads her to becoming more serious, insecure and eventually siding with the villain (I'm not opposed to a rival being used by the antagonist, it sounds cool), but the "extremeness" of her development also comes... out of nowhere? Feeling insecure and participating in what is essentially world genocide seems a little much.

The lore of the Empyreans seems cool, and I like what's happening. But there are so many plot points being thrown at you all. the. time. that it just got to a point where I started getting lost, and some plot points weren't getting resolved, and yadda yadda yadda. I think Empyrean's story is interesting in concept, but it is very badly paced and all over the place. I'd honestly love to see this game rebuilt from the ground up. But until then, I find it really hard to get really invested in the game. Anyway, sorry for the long write-up on the game. I might join you all with Reborn next, although I'm probably very behind kek.

I had a weird/awful idea for a /vp/ plays playthrough. Playing an official game or a fangame, but trading our save files after every gym. It's like a secret santa thing, but with our save files.
Would probably be awful in execution, but it felt really funny in my head.

Before entering the M3G4 T3RR4 building, i breeded and trained a Manectric for the potential Thunder spam/Elec. Terrain/Mega slot (in cases where Mega Sharpedo is not needed)

It was a somewhat difficult fight with the inverse field (never played XY were this originated from, also a lot of romhacks really love this gimmick...) main strategy was focusing on Eve's team while trying to disable both the field and that annoying Lapras (the team had no ice moves, which is depressing).
Once Eve is down, it's just a matter of setting Elec. Terrain, and that's pretty much G-fucking-G.

Cal's team wasn't anything extraordinary outside of the Dragon's Den field, which is a bit problematic since it weakens my own water types and powers up Dragon moves.
Same as always: Set Elec. Terrain -> Set Rain -> Spam Surf for most of the fight (except for Kommo-o, which gets killed by Delphox)
Even with the Dragon's Den field up, the surf spam will transform it, negating the Fire/Dragon buffs.

I'm willing to try and finish this game but I have been struggling a lot. Been playing it on and off for probably 2-3 years. I am at the Titania gym battle. I struggle every major battle. Do you have any tips? Am I just dogshit at Pokemon? I can't believe people do Nuzlockes of this game I die 10 times every boss. The mansion gauntlet fight took me like 30 tries. Depends, I take between 0 to 5 or so attempts on Boss fights (Gym battles, Important trainers, Team Meteor admins, Pulse fights and such) but it greatly depends on your current team.
Also Titania is certainly a difficult fight with a bullshit field... I would argue that having good natures/abilities helps more than having perfect IVs (easy to get through Passwords/Shards)

You should also know when to change team members/moves for coverage (example getting walled by a Steel type while using a team full of Bugs/Grass types)
Sometimes your team CAN in fact win the fight but you need to pilot it correctly to win the fight (abusing the AI, using Setup Moves against Sucker Punch Spam, making smart switch-ins and things like that)
Also one of the best advices i can give is getting a gimmick mon (most anons recommended a Prankster Destiny Bond Murkrow)

Titania is usually as the most difficult main game Gym Leader—as in, even if she's not the number one most personally difficult for you, she's the most consistently challenging across different players in my experience because of her tough field and some devious setup effects like Excadrill's Magical Seed guaranteeing it a Sandstorm. Don't feel too bad for struggling. I do recommend fiddling with natures and you can easily farm Heart Scales to do so (Pokémon psychologist in 7th Street will change them for you if you haven't encountered him). If you're making best use of your current team and it's still too much, you might want to sub in a new mon with a good match up, probably Ground type. But most main game fights in Reborn can be beaten with a decently rounded generic team so long as you're willing to occasionally manip the AI.

not that anon but imho type stacking is fine if they're different type combinations (such as fire/flying and fire/fighting) but if it's two of the same there has to be a good reason for it (type advantage against a gym or other specific fight, exploiting a specific field condition, or filling different roles) but generally that also depends on the two mons being usable individually instead of requiring each other to be sent out at the same time to be relevant
unlike plusle/minun which are pretty much literally the same mon beyond minor stat differences
and are total trash individually, and even their gimmick doesn't make the pair viable in doubles

also as it turns out most players prefer using mons that are stronger and easier to use effectively (instead of requiring excess effort and teambuilding resources that'd be better spent on better mons)

Plusle/Minun got buffs and reworked movesets to make them different enough, with Plusle being more supportive by carrying heal bell/etc while Minun has a more offensive oriented moveset. They also have a second ability that you swap from Plus/Minus in case you want to use just one.
Then midgame, they get another buff, with Plusle getting a passive team wide +10% accuracy and even more support moves, while Minun gets fucking Beast Boost and Nasty Plot.
I still didn't use either of them but they're solid enough in the context of the hack, as individuals and as a duo.

The rail puzzles are a bit too common and long for my taste.

wasn't too difficult despite Crobat settings up a longer duration tailwind with a Focus Sash + a Field that boosts Flying types moves.
once the tailwind is gone, it's pretty easy for Sharpedo to sweep the team with Strong Jaw Ice Fang/Rain boosted waterfall
also nice detail the fact that Heather's team is Half Poison/Half Flying.

OH BOY, the Flower Garden Field is so overtuned it's gotta be some kind of cruel joke. Thankfully, Fire Pledge can erase the field from existence. The bad news is that it only works when there's no rain, so i had to set Hail for that to work (Seismitoad learns Hail via TM and Delphox already has Fire Pledge) and that pretty much takes care of the annoying terrain and most of the Grass/Bug mons.
So far, so good.
