Oldfag who collected as a kid here. Given the state of the market, I asked my dad on a whim to see if he could find my binder that I thought might be stored with the rest of my old shit in an outbuilding that's currently infested with raccoons. I was stunned when he said he found it and it seemed like everything was in okay condition.

I'm looking to unload these and I'm wondering if it's worth my time (and money on sleeves, toploaders, envelopes, etc) to research prices and piece it out to sell online or to just go to a local dealer and get a cash offer for all of it. Nothing is in mint condition, but nothing is in terrible condition, either. I know a bit about grading and I'd wager that they would come back anywhere between a PSA 5 and 7. Just don't know if you see anything here that's crazy valuable (like over $50).

Sorry for the shit picture quality. The cards also look much better outside of the vinyl pages.

It's like, nigger, for most of the last 25 years, the mainstay of the hobby has been children. Back in 2019, 2015, 2010, 2005, 2000. it's been mostly children that buy cards when they get the chance. There was always stock on sale for retail prices on shelves and no hype. Who the fuck were scalpers going to profiteer from? Kids with $10 to their name?

It's only been since covid that it's changed into nostalgia driven adults treating it as a store of wealth and money laundering investments have scalpers been able to get a foothold in the hobby because there are desperate niggers willing to pay over the odds so that they can hold a product for long term investing. They think that scalping has laways been in the hobby because that's all they know of it.

Like these niggers are unaware that you could still by base set booster packs for $10 as recently as 2013 and that we only saw huge increases in price in late 2018

Even with the ridiculous covid spike, scalping was only briefly a thing. It lasted for a little bit during the initial covid insanity, but it cooled off pretty quickly. Evolving Skies is known as THE modern set now and even that was pretty accessible, even before the additional print runs. Product moved kind of fast, but generally all you had to do was hit a store within a day or two of a restock. Not even close to scalpers literally waiting hours to clean out a restock the moment it hits shelves now. The ONLY product prior to this nonsense that I was unable to get for retail was the Celebrations UPC. Otherwise everything else was relatively easy to acquire.

What's really incredible to me is that scalpers have the audacity to try and defend themselves. You would think that they'd just be so lacking in shame that they just don't care, but I constantly see them trying to justify themselves, or wondering why everyone is so mad. They invade our hobby, completely ruin it for the sake of making a quick buck, and then have the gall to call the community "crybabies" for rightfully calling them out. Just saw some bitch defending her scalper son claiming he was "providing a service" by waiting in line for us. I earnestly wish these people would just drop dead.

Dragonite and Gyarados are 2 of the only 5 lineups I have a shit about in Kanto. I think charizard being a chase card and one of ash’s strongest Pokemon in the anime had a lot to do with people liking him, even though it was ass in base set to gym heroes competitive.
