It's less cumbersome to say "evolution Pokemon" than "stage 1 or stage 2 Pokemon"

initial thoughts: sweets relay looks good thanks to slurpuff being really overloaded, primarina ex looks good, and hau looks like it'll make the other alolan starter exes more viable as well, particularly decidueye. decidueye's been on a bit of a downward trend lately since silvally makes things really hard for it, but hau pushes silvally right into a clean KO range with leaf blade so hopefully the owl gets a second wind.
dragonite ex could be fun with leaf+fossil tech, viability is a bit iffy though. probably most comparable to GA zard who isn't exactly good right now.
snorlax ex seems pretty lame. looks outclassed by barrylax. even in greninja decks it's still not good because it can't threaten attacks with barry.
the eevee menagerie looks to be terrible. the eeveelutions are generally quite bad, and the only 4-eevee deck i can foresee is sylveon + sylveon ex, hoping to leverage sylveon ex's draw power to fill the bench asap and enable sylveon to swing for 130. but if you don't get a god hand it's just a worse silvally so i don't expect that to see any serious play.
only other noteworthy card is tsareena, but i don't see it having much serious viability due to the very low damage and lack of good partners tsareena has always struggled with.

I personally think all the EXs in this set have some degree of utility. Primarina is undoubtedly the best one and Dragonite being the worst..

Yeah this is pretty much the main takeaway from my matches. The other big problem is that while turn 1 Red Card is always funny and a tactical Mars is useful, if I'm already chewing through the opponent's hand with Tsareena then sometimes I ended up with RC/Mars just sitting in my hand doing nothing because it'd give the opponent cards. I think I'll trade one of those out so I can swap in something big (such as Buzzwole like the NPC deck does) that can eat that excess energy per turn and swing hard if I need that extra damage

So I threw in a Buzzwole, and my deck has actually been doing significantly worse - with a higher energy cost (and lower damage output until 3 energy) and the inability to be healed by Mallow, Buzzwole feels significantly worse to use and easier for my opponent to kill. Being worth 2 points only makes it feel even worse. The only time he worked was when I already had Tsareena out front doing her thing while I had Buzzwole in the back slowly growing power - if I was forced to lead with Buzzwole (pretty common since there's only 3 basics in this deck) it felt like I already bricked the match

I think I'll stick with the two Tsareenas, and instead supplement damage with Gio/Red, along with some Sabrina/Cyrus to swap opponents out in case I end up against an unpleasant matchup
