I just don't think there was any point in remaking games that already HAD the perfect "remake" back in the day, anon. Emerald improved on Ruby and Sapphire in every way minus the fact you couldn't catch Surskit, Lunatone, and Zangoose.

Like ORAS did nothing that majorly ADDS to the experience or setting of Hoenn in any major way the same way the remakes of Red and Blue did with the Sevii Islands and the various mechanics introduced like the Fame Checker.

All ORAS has is a vastly uglier artstyle showcasing remixed versions of stuff you've seen before while removing the things you remembered the best, like The Abandoned Ship, Mirage Tower, The Battle Frontier... When you're trying to measure up to what came before, at least try to MATCH it before you claim victory.

GSC fit in 2mb of cart space, meaning they HAD to bullshit some extra content for the remake, to fill out a DS game (they added new shit for FRLG and oldfags HATED it because it was clearly and obviously shit made in Gen 3 to fill space). The rehash of Gen 1 was also just a straight bugfix, unlike Gen 2 which tried to make a different story, meaning when it came to fill space, thy could rob Crystal's details to do so, made of the era and acceptable to oldfags. I still cannot believe BDSP (Or the rest of the mainline switch games) are being sold for $60. Expect the switch 2 games to be sold at $70-$80 without much of an increase in quality.
Legends ZA will probably be a solid addition to the franchise but will still have a lot of wasted potential; Hand that game to any of the inhouse Nintendo developers with an additional year of development and you'd have the best 3D Pokemon game so far.

BDSP respects DP to a fault, it doesn't stray from the blueprint whatsoever except for including 15 years of QoL in an otherwise completely faithful remake. as remakes and remasters go it's fine, its only flaw exists outside itself in that people expected more of it - which is insane to me because it was the sister release of PLA, a game obviously meant to fill the niche of the big ambitious sinnoh return people were expecting. together they make an excellent pair, a completely faithful no bullshit remake and an ambitious yet respectful and heartfelt revisit to the region which coexist with one another perfectly.
ORAS however completely drops the ball in this regard in that it has no respect for the hoenn games or their story and essentially uses them as a vehicle to show off the hot new gimmick mega evolution ad nauseum instead. as remakes go i've rarely seen one so deeply disrespectful of the source material as ORAS is, and thats why, no matter how good of a game it may otherwise be, ORAS is a bad remake.

I always viewed BDSP as more of a port than anything else. It's cool since it gave people who didn't play gen IV an opportunity to experience Sinnoh, while those who did could skip it without consequence. It would have been really bullshit if they locked some new mons in BDSP like they did with USUM to say "better buy the games, you need to catch 'em all". I spoke to someone once who said ORAS was how they experienced Hoenn and I felt bad for them.

PLA doesn't seem to me like it was meant to have the same kind of role as ORAS or HGSS as a remake. It's a completely different story which is only heavily references DPPt because it happens in the same region. It uses DPPt as a basis, but it's a completely different experience. That's why even if the open world is underwhelming, saying they "replaced" Sinnoh with it is just wrong.
