I seriously do not understand SwSh's writing at all.
>Piers, Marnie, and Team Yell have 0 motivation, their one motivation of their town being an unpolular shithole because there's no Dynamax spot is brushed aside and wasted. They also do jack shit. Team Yell is obviously meant to be the foil to Macro Cosmos but the one time they join the Protag and go after Macro Cosmos all the hype gets killed right at the end. Marnie herself has no impact on the story and could be written out with 0 consequence.
>Rose is the dumbest motherfucker in the Pokemon universe. His motivation is the absolute most asinine reasoning ever. He barely gets any screentime. No backstory. Is really only "evil" in like 2 scenes in the whole game. And to add insult to injury he gets the best battle theme ever. (Compared to Lusamine who got much more screentime, infinitly better backstory and motivation, and the players connection to Nebby & Lillie really helps make Lusamine a tragic but hatable villain.)
>Olena either should've been the villain instead of Rose or just not exist at all. And her backstory of having a Trubbish/Garbodor comes out of left field and is never explored.
>The two princes in the postgame plot really should've been part of the main story since the main story alludes to some conspiracy to keep Zacian and Zamazenta a secret, but the main plot never explores this and for some stupid reason only brings it up in the postgame.

i wish sonia had more content in the sword/shield games. she just kinda pops up a few times for like a minute at a time. go back to the 3ds style where you go on long journeys with npc friends like in y/x and sun/moon. those games were great for that. imagine having sonia with you the entire way through the game cheering you on and collecting materials/data
