Definitely a lot of caveats to perfect fits imo.

Perfect fits damaging cards depends upon a lot of factors desu. Quite a few things can impact how tight the perfect fit is other than the actual size of the sleeve.
The thickness of the card (WOTC era cards in general being thicker) contributes heavily to it. Also not all perfect fits are cut the same (even in the same batch)

So if you must perfect fit you really need to do a few things

-buy good brand
-Weed out the too small ones in the batch you ordered
-(Most important step)put a junk card in the perfect fit before to test. Helps stretch it out.
-Put in carefully without pressure.

Or just never have to worry about it and use a penny sleeve or a dragon shield clear.

-Never too tight
-In my experience seals the card better from moisture to prevent excessive curling
-allows the card breathing room to expand and contract. When a foil curls in a perfect fit it isn't pretty
-Should any dust get in it isn't a death sentence vs a perfect fit
-fits better in binders. Perfect fits kinda suck ass in premium binders.


Honestly the only time you should perfect fit is double sleeving for playing.

Perfect fits compress the card. When you slide it inside the chances something happens are high, once it's inside it might get compressed further because of changes in moisture.
We are talking about very expensive cards and wanting to keep the cards in pristine condition, just to be very clear, it's not like your card will get destroyed kek.

People who collect Master Sets are probably bigger fans of Pokemon.
They arent just collecting whats "valuable" or whats "likely to rise in value" they collect the cheap and valueless cards as well. Meaning theyre not just doing it for the money, and keeping more to the spirit of "gotta catch em all" then people just looking for chase cards. Each pack they open can almost entirely go into their binder especially when they first start. There is much more soul to collecting sets then cherry picking.
As for 151 goes, its being reprinted into the ground, so itll likely never maintain long term value and is for people with a pure joy of the hobby.
You could argue 151 is normie shit or whatever, thats fine, its the original and the father of all other generations, no one cares about pokemon made for 6 year olds today. They like what existed when they were 6, as they should.

Anyone with half a brain that has ever used a perfect fit knows how snug they are and understands the risk when sleeving a card with it, on top of the dynamic once the card is inside, considering cards swelll up and shrink.

There's literally no reason to take on those risks when there is no reward, if you're not double sleeving to play. And even then you should not play with very expensive cards, just use a proxy if a cheaper version isn't available.

Why yes I do consider recolors apart of the 151 Master Set, how could you tell?

There are some difficult concepts in collecting to grasp, especially when terms are usually used erroneously by most of the fandom.
A lot of collectors dont grasp the concept of what "alt art" or "alternative art" means, they typically just conflate that with illustration rare or special illustration rare, and they think it strictly refers to those two specific types of rarity. But what the phrase or term actually means is ~ Any card with an alternative art from the original print ~ so although this does include IR & SIRs it can also include things like baby shinies. Which also have different art then the original print of the card. As seen by the same attacks, and HP between the two cards, they are functionally and mechanically the same cards, just with alternative art work in the art box.
So when people ask why I have baby shinies in my 151 collection binder, I simply tell them because theyre alt arts of the 151 cards.
It should come as no surprise that china included these into their version of the 151 set.

The pockets closest to the spine have a natural curvature to the pocket, even while closed. Overtime causing an unnatural bending/ warping of the card. Many competing binder brands leave a larger gap of blank canvas between the spine and pocket to avoid this problem. This also helps resolve buckling of pages as you turn through the binder.
