>I'd say Hoenn was the first attempt at dexcutting, to sell you the Gen 2 mons via Colosseum, BW actually had a lot of them in the postgame at least. The actual bad thing about forcing all the mons they created on you was the gimping of fishing rods because they couldn't figure more new fishes.
Gen 5 was completely missing a bunch of non-mythical mons that you had to transfer from previous gens/get via limited time events like Mewtwo, some of the previous starters, the Pikachu line, Unown and Glameow among others. Every previous gen had a way to get them from a game in that gen except gen 5 which started the whole "not being able to get the mons at all" thing.
>Other than that Gen 5 also runs so much better than Gen 4 and has much more confident presentation with shit like multiple gym music and several seasons, all in all the presentation made a huge leap, even if I am also iffy on the tweened Pokemon sprites, at least they tried something.
Gens 4 and 5 run almost the same and those other things take like 2 seconds to add. Not much of an upgrade, more like a minor touch up. Aso the terrible pixelation in battle made is a confudently horrible presentation. Also "at least they tried something" is nowhere good enough for a new gen, they need to actually do something significant to make it a true upgrade, not halfass things because people will buy it anyway.
