First, don't talk like that. Second, that's not true. You'd need to have a level 41+ pokemon with pickup to get a shiny stone before Canalave. Without that, the first shiny stone in DPP is on the iron islands.

A lot of this genre of image tend to go super overboard by plastering every inch of canvas with Pokemon, which is understandable but I've always preferred ones that are more understated with like one or two max. When you go out into the woods you don't see dozens of animals milling around.

But to me, the fact that people played such simple pixel games and saw in their own heads such incredible landscapes and situations as we see here, that is more beautiful than any game could ever possibly be

There is a reason most of the pics in these threads are always from the earlier gens. Newer regions, for the most part, lack memorable, visually appealing locations. Artists can only draw such incredible landscapes and situations because those pixel games looked good in the first place.

I think it fair to say that with the movie series dead, and Game Freak now making correctly-proportioned world spaces for big screens (whether they want to or not), there is now very little left TO imagine. The brand was selling you, in part, the idea of this world where all this silly creatures live, but now that world is 1:1. But everyone can argue when that tipping point was reached, how much it matters to each person, or if Game Freaks own pixels and polygons mean anything at all.

I personally wouldn't call the ugly empty lots of modern games correctly-proportioned worlds for the big screen but even then, this is not an imagination problem. Plenty of games with realistic art direction and open words get fanart of their iconic locations because they have iconic locations. It has nothing to do with leaving things to the imagination.
Modern pokemon games simply lack memorable places worth drawing.

I feel like its nostalgia to some extent. Over time, people may feel more fondness for today's gens.
I feel like Galar looked really nice and could receive attention in the future, but Paldea as a region didn't really have many memorable locations at all, though Kitakami did work a little better because it was more condensed. I feel like Gamefreak overextending themselves is going to be detrimental to them leaving a lasting impact. I can't see anyone wanting to draw Paldea, I can't even imagine the place in my head as anything other than low resolution grass hills
