I too run my own card grading company

I'm going to start my own grading company.
I'm only going to grade and authenticate Pokémon cards.
This will be better because with a smaller portfolio the employees will be much more versed in a smaller niche then a much broader one.
Each card will have a QR code that will bring up its high quality scans, and detailed grading notes identifying any imperfections with the card. The scans will be so high quality that we'll be able to assign a unique fingerprint to the card based on the microfibers of the card. Using finger print and ballistic forensics scans, we'll be able to detect if a card has been cracked and resubmitted, which will help to identify thieves of stolen cards.
Each card will also have a record of ownership, and a chain of custody. So you can see who previously owned your slab.
I'll also develop a way to detect alterations such as card care.
And i'll have a location in every state so people can do drop offs and pick ups to mitigate mail theft, and to reduce shipping costs to the consumer.

I used several factors to convince someone to buy this for 12k.
The pop of this card is low, there's only 500 something of them.
Every single vendor I showed it to had a onions attack, so I showed it to around 10 to get them all talking about it
The price of 12k is based on the fact that your other options on ebay were more expensive and subject to taxes.
Since there's so few of these PSA 9 or above we both knew that no one else was going to come in with another one
Evidently, they think someone is going to come around and buy it in the ballpark of 15k, but now it's their problem to actually get someone to spend that much.
Also, at a con they all know that I can take the card to 100+ other vendors and that every other vendor wants to buy it at some price so that allows me to get more for it then if I took it to a random card shop.
They're all such monkeys that only can look at the recently sold listing online, but for a rare item there may not be many sales reflecting the current real world value if demand has suddenly increased (youtubers hyping up gold star cards).

What are card shows like? Are they worth going to for maybe some deals or is it just YouTubers making a profit?

You can also try to bundle stuff together, if they won't go lower than 90% you can try to get them to throw in something of low or moderate value (5-50 bucks, whatever). They have a strong incentive to try to move product. All of their cards are liabilities, and only they know how much they paid for them. I'll use my tax free proceeds here to reduce my taxable income with a traditional IRA account, most likely. But I'll pick up some cards too, and did at this show you just have to be extremely vigilant to ensure you actually get a decent deal.
Good luck on gen 3, my old stuff came back 5-8 mostly, I sold some slabs that I had here for about 1k as well. I was able to negotiate a decent deal on those as well, but its easy to get screwed on non graded cards at these things. You have to be very careful to only trade them things that are unlikely to grade well. Subsequently, be careful buying from them if you intend to grade as all cards I got from them were conspicuously not going to 10 due to corners, hairline holo scratches or especially bad centering. You're basically buying only their reject cards at these events, so keep that in mind.

I would think it's because the clay or crochet figures are hand made by the author, with permission from uncle pika, whereas the official plushies are already a product pokemon made, so it's not an entirely original concept from the card author

The Pokémon market is in a fad hype phase.
Its hitting a lul with summer slow down, which has ruined a few scalpers and scared them off.
Theyre unable to move product at cost due to shipping costs and platform fees let alone make a profit. Incurring lots of interest charges on their credit cards, losing any profits previously made.
Ebay is in complete disarray of delusional new sellers wanting future prices or peak market prices on cards that have crashed.
They were reluctant to budge on prices for a short while there. They had a "just hold it until it goes up eventually" mentality. Well it turns out travel, fun, and recreation had a price and its hard to due when youre in crippling debt.
So we're seeing prismatic singles tank as a result and 151 is tanking due to mass reprints.
The hobby is healing a bit, very low interest in Black Bolt & White Flare will help perpetuate the disinterest.

Still at Dispatched from Origin. I know there is no way to cancel the order at this point. I am now seeing horror stories of people waiting 2-3 months at this status. I was so excited to get these cards. I don't even want them anymore. I get so uncontrollably angry thinking about the situation, and I missed my mental health appointment today. The only "bootleg" card I would get is a Japanese version of a card instead of a 1st Edition WOTC card. Some 1st editions are crazy expensive, so I'm okay with a Japanese version for now.
