The OP pic would've been fine if it weren't for the awful eye bleed-inducing green background. Maybe the green part is helpful if you're using the pic as a game asset, but as for something to display on its own, it's basic aesthetic sense to either just remove the green or change its color within 3 seconds in ms paint or something. Knowing how to use gen AI doesn't automatically give you that ability to sense things like eye-straining contrast on your own.

But at least jannies aren't going to be deleting this one, which makes it better than the last thread's pic by default.

Sapphire asks Machop to help her with a shelter. But he just shakes his head.
Machop can only Build things. He can't help gather resources. And without resources, he can't Build a shelter.
Sapphire will need another Pokemon with the right moves to collect resources.
While frustrated, she tries not to look too disappointed in her only companion.

The forest to the left smells weird.
Maybe it's better that they don't Build a shelter there anyway.

I don't know about that one, but you reminded me of this old sprite comic called "Pokemon-X" that I used to be obsessed with for some reason. Being a Hoennfag desperate for content after Emerald but before gen 6/ORAS was a struggle.

Checked.
Speaking of Ruby, it was recently his birthday (July 2), which is relevant because Ruby and Sapphire's birthdays are related so they show up in each other's birthday fanart. Yamamoto also posted an update on that day about the final version of the ORAS arc's finale, Volume 65, saying unfortunately it won't be completed by Sapphire's birthday this year (September 20).

Of course the original version of the ORAS arc was shit and not even a new ending created 10 years later can fix it or bring Kusaka back from his self banishment from Twitter. So the only people looking forward to the Vooume 65 update have PokeSpe stockholm syndrome and are running on pure copium. The only good ending here is if the new ORAS epilogue has a Ruby/Sapphire sex scene, but desu I doubt either of the will even appear in it and it'll just be poorly drawn 3 panels of Volcanion or something.

Headcanon conspiracy theory but I think the suits are the ones who ruined the ORAS arc to begin with. Nearly every weird contradiction about it seems like it comes from the original RS arc's very complicated ideas clashing with what some dumbass out of touch executive's idea of what a rushed shounen slop manga should be like. The story ends up with schizophrenia, as if Kusaka and the suits are its two heads and they're fighting.

Yeah the ORAS arc is overall thematically consistent (which is why I don't generally consider Ruby and Sapphire OOC in it), but nobody besides autists give a shit about themes. Most readers usually care about everything else and that's where ORAS failed so badly. It has a real fruit core but the flesh itself is rotten.

Nah, it's Wanda (Wally's cousin), I don't think she has any official design from the games so her PokeSpe design was supposed to be similar to Wally, but accidentally ended up looking like gen 4 Misty too.

Wanda was engaged to Riley (the Rusturf Tunnel guy from the RSE games, forgot if he's there in ORAS or not) in PokeSpe's RS arc and finally marries him in the Emerald arc. Wanda/Riley is one of 4-5 background character romances in the Hoenn arcs used as extremely unsubtle parallels to Ruby/Sapphire's relationship.

Wanda/Riley's wedding in the Emerald arc is also literally just the setting for Ruby and Sapphire to be reintroduced into the story after being absent for FRLG, bringing back the theme of relationships at the same time. It's also an opportunity for Sapphire to express how much she'd like a wedding too which she basically later gets in ORAS.

You know how domestic cats can be adorable while at the same time bringing you bloody beheaded animals as gifts? Or how one way they like playing is play wrestling, where you can tickle its stomach and it responds by chewing and scratching the shit out of your hand but not that hard? Its affection and aggression are not a contradiction, it can do both at the same time, in both cases it's still the same pet animal who loves (You).

I think that's the idea of Sapphire after RS, starting with Ruby she finally learned to truly trust other people, so now she's less afraid of being her natural self. Which can be quite vulnerable and cute on top of her enjoying some feminine things like romance, while also not shitting on things she's not that interested in (she never became a fashionista for example). She just grew up and became less one dimensional/cartoonishly extreme. That doesn't mean she stopped being an animal, her behavior also depends on the context.
Which is also independent of meta elements, like her getting less screentime or being a background character instead of a protagonist in later story arcs.

Westoids consider all that as Sapphire being "ruined" though because she's not one dimensional.

>Headcanon conspiracy theory but I think the suits are the ones who ruined the ORAS arc to begin with.
I don't even think it's a conspiracy but just flat out true. Like not even in a meddling way but the fact the games got more story focused means Pokespe had no choice but to consolidate what they did with RS back in the 2000s with this plot heavy remake.

FRLG just had TR causing vague trouble in some new islands, HGSS didn't have anything new plot wise beyond a shitty gimmick stadium and a Arceus event. ORAS has a whole postgame story chapter.

The easy way out would have been to ignore the whole multiverse and laser focus on Zinnia and the meteor threat, but the manga is one of the pillars of the brand so it had no choice but to showcase the new designs for characters that were dead/redesigned completely in Pokespe RS. Sure, but even taking into account the games suddenly becoming more plot focused and PokeSpe having to reflect this, there are still parts of the ORAS arc I think suits meddled with because they were just so completely "unnecessary". Namely Sapphire getting written out in favor of the male protagonists AGAIN. If the ORAS arc was purely just "PokeSpe's version of the Delta Episode" then based on the (early-middle) RS arc's template, the ORAS arc could have easily gone the path of least resistance and done something like this basic ass fanfic premise I just made up (which while predictable is probably in line with what most people expected anyway):
>Ruby is paired with Latias
>Sapphire is paired with Latios (because of the gender "complementary opposites" theme of their Pokemon teams, neither of them are troons)
>Ruby/Sapphire travel together a lot, if not most of the time
>They have relationship drama (trust issues) which complicates things
>But physical proximity forces them to slowly resolve it over time (represents their relationship maturing through hardship/responsibility/loyalty and the daily reality of "marriage" versus the unrealistically idyllic idea of relationships that shippers have)
>Ruby being an asshole affects his ability to truly bond with Latias (and thus mega evolve her), so he takes longer than Sapphire does with Latios because Sapphire's an empath
>Emerald's there as the reluctant mediator/marriage counselor (Rayquaza) between Ruby (Groudon) and Sapphire (Kyogre) while their drama is ongoing (mainly for the underutilized Weather Trio symbolism)

What actually happens in the ORAS arc:
>Ruby is paired with Mega Latios
>Emerald is paired with Mega Latias
>Sapphire becomes disabled, ends up in a fucking wormhole, just stands in front of a space ship for a whole day, then gets KOed in the ocean
>Ruby and Sapphire are separated and have zero communication for 99% of the story, prolonging a very forced conflict that could've resolved itself much sooner if they weren't separated
>Said conflict is later resolved within half a day
>Ruby bonds with and mega evolves Latios in 5 seconds, then finds Diancie in some fucking cave and befriends it too because it must be shilled, also Ruby sort of bonds with Rayquaza 5 seconds before Sapphire shows up and truly bonds with it, just so Ruby technically did it first so he can be put on record as some Legendary taming chad
>Emerald is just.... there, mostly interacting with Ruby and Sapphire separately but not as a pair (completely wasting all this "trio"'s comedic potential, let alone symbolism)

It sounds like a joke when put that way but that's literally what happens. The story twists itself into complete knots in its attempts to get rid of Sapphire and focus on the boys, even if it makes no sense and retcons a lot of Kusaka's own existing groundwork for her character just like the RS arc's ending did. It makes no sense for Kusaka to miss these obvious opportunities or willingly nuke his own characters, which is why I suspect suit meddling.

Then as if this shitshow couldn't get any worse or more complicated, the (western) fanbase's reaction to the ORAS arc's clear shittiness was to misguidedly either scapegoat Ruby as "trying to take spotlight away from Sapphire" (when this contradicts his character on multiple levels) or scapegoat Sapphire as "doing literally nothing" (except she clearly tried to, but just got kneecapped by fucking God (Kusaka) at every turn), or just blame both of them, when neither of them were the core problem. The writing was just that bad, end of story.

And things only get worse from there in the ORAS arc, but Sapphire not getting either Lati sibling to match Ruby (which is what the early-middle RS arc would've done), hell just the fact that Ruby got Latios instead of Latias to begin with, is just a perfect encapsulation of just how much missed potential/completely avoidable fuckery was going on in ORAS. This arc just suffers from insane shounen ensloppification, and is such a downgrade from the original RS arc which was unique for how much it eagerly broke convention, or at least tried to. Most of ORAS arc feels like it was just trying to un-break those same conventions, even if it made the story worse or nonsensical.

Both Sapphire and Ruby in that ESL fujoshi zoomer portrait video are OOC. Fujos and their shitty homosexual fanfics are a plague upon this earth.

As for her and Ruby's conflict, superficially it can just make either/both of them look dumb depending on who you side with (either Ruby's too controlling or Sapphire's an ingrate). But Ruby "not letting Sapphire do things" is really a complicated culmination of
>Their different beliefs: There's a "destiny" in the RS arc (the force providing Juan's visions, that chose Ruby/Sapphire to hold the Orbs etc, that Juan was teaching them on Mirage Island to trust). Sapphire trusts destiny will make things work out in the end, that they'll be fine as long as they follow the prophecy making them work together. But Ruby's cynical and doubts it, later making him vulnerable to being manipulated away from the prophecy and thus Sapphire. Thus causing mass deaths. This is why Juan says Sapphire has "strong intuition" that Ruby lacks, that Ruby is "mentally weaker" and will cause problems. If "destiny" is shorthand for divine power/PokeGod, then creates religious conflict between Sapphire being spiritual and Ruby basically being atheist. Since the narrative itself values spirituality, it typically sides with Sapphire and rakes Ruby over the coals just for not being a destiny "believer"

>Trauma reactions: Just like in RS, in ORAS both of their trauma responses end up ironically setting off the other. In RS Ruby gets triggered by Sapphire's masculine behavior and Sapphire's triggered by Ruby's feminine behavior, because they remind each of heir past and deep self hatred. In ORAS, Ruby's traumatic fear (losing Sapphire, his main life purpose) makes him lie to Sapphire, which then accidentally triggers her traumatic fear instead (being useless/trapped while everyone around her dies, especially Ruby dying). It's not even that they don't care about the other, it's literally just miscommunication, but Ruby's lying/Sapphire's panic only made their confusion worse. Ruby is made to apologize in this situation since he's the one who started it all 4 years earlier.
>Theme of collective action > individual heroes: It's not just Ruby, EVERY Hoenn character who tries going off alone (like Norman and Winona, to a lesser extent even Sapphire herself) even with good intentions gets cosmically punished for not working with a group. The moralism is kind of ridiculous.

But it goes even beyond just Ruby and Sapphire, the story itself is so didactic (technically being written for children and all) that sometimes Ruby gets punished for things that aren't even that bad/completely his fault.

In contrast, part of what makes Sapphire dumb is how her idea of morality is that of a generic shonen protagonist, simple and arguably self righteous, but she's never challenged with trolley problems like Ruby is in the same story. In ORAS she technically even does the same "crime" Ruby keeps committing (ditching the mission to protect the boyfriend/girlfriend) but she's never made to reflect on this since ORAS sucks. It's part of a wider trend of Kusaka purposely not exploring Sapphire's character as deeply as Ruby's, despite her having just as much potential, because then she'd be more interesting than Ruby is and we can't have that. Her role is being Ruby's moral compass because he doesn't have his own, which is why Sapphire can't falter in her convictions. If she loses her stability, then Ruby will crumble right after her. She has to stay simple.

Not to mention if you put Ruby and Sapphire in a different universe from their usual one, you could easily make situations where Ruby lying to Sapphire or locking her in cars to protect her isn't even morally ambiguous, and in fact objectively the best possible choice he could make at the time. And "Ruby was right" undermines a lot of their canon drama if you think about it too much. But PokeSpe and the whole franchise has always operated on a lot of suspension of disbelief.

My Ruby defending ends there. Because on the topic of morally ambiguous RS characters, Norman was objectively correct for beating the shit out of Ruby and should've actually punched him more.

Imagine if Sapphire did anything wrong and was punished, even minorly.
>Sapphire commits a minor crime by being dumb

>in the span of those weeks, Ruby's life crumbles and he ultimately hangs himself, all because the thought of Sapphire's morals graying even slightly shatters his own moral guidepost

I agree Ruby would have a meltdown, but neither he or Sapphire actually consider the law as a basis for morality (lawful good). Part of their theme as "society's outliers" is how they're both fine with breaking laws, the difference is that Sapphire has her own strict inner morality that she holds higher than the law (chaotic good) while Ruby lacks a backup morality of his own (chaotic neutral/true neutral). So if Sapphire broke the law, Ruby would just believe the law was wrong and that Sapphire was misunderstood/framed, no matter what you tell him.

And since unlike Sapphire, Ruby actually fears death (which may relate to his "atheism" thus lack of belief in an afterlife), he will only commit sudoku if Sapphire died first (source: him deciding to double suicide with her in ORAS).

So if Sapphire went to jail, I think Ruby would just break her out then start a new life on the run together.
