>Thread question:What are some Pokemon that are banned from other regions?
>Previous thread:>>57949500
>>57965728Galar sure is shit.
>>57965700 (OP)>What are some Pokemon that are banned from other regions? Not regions per se but psychic types should be banned from schools to stop cheaters, I didn't like how Black used his Munna to fight official battles since it was external help
>>57965700 (OP)It's hard for me to see a pokemon being banned wholesale across an entire region. In certain protected areas with frail ecosystems, sure, but good luck enforcing bans on magical creatures that don't give a fuck about human borders across an entire country. I imagine trainers would be upset as well and would heavily push-back any bans against anything that's not incredibly destructive.
>>57965728This is so fucking retarded. I can't believe they made it """canon"". Dexit as a concept is fucking stupid and if you unironicallly use it on a fic you need to kill yourself.
>>57965728Realistically if you were an underpaid Galarian wagie would you REALLY stop former Indigo Champion Blue Oak and his massive Pidgeot capable of leveling a small town when they stroll through the gates?
So how do you guys plan out your fanfics? Do you write it down on Notepad or something? Keep it all in your head? Make it up as you go?
>>57965744I've heard people say this is an edit, and Mastersex isn't 'canon' anyways. Chill out, for your own health.
>>57965771While a larger line is in my head, I mostly just make shit up on the fly.
>>57965771I'll usually let it simmer in my head over months and have music that inspires me to think of epic fights or emotional moments that seem fitting whether I'm walking or working out. Once I have a few of those big moments, it's more about building the world and fleshing out everything in between.
Being the hyper autist I am, I've had thoughts and ideas about what Pokemon media doesn't hit right (in my opinion), so I usually have a bit of a bank of stuff to pick from. For Prince of Po Town I had a couple ideas for the antagonist and actually came here for advice and got told to make it better (which was perfect). Someone in this thread said pick *insert generic villain here* and I was like "that's fucking retarded." Turns out that's the end villain now and I think it fits perfectly. The antagonist switched one more time before it just felt like it "fit." I have a pretty detailed outline that keeps the plot events lined up and on track, but I try to have the organic character moments pop in when it feels right. Also I did update another chapter for PoPT https://archiveofourown.org/works/66210784/chapters/173310526
>>57965728This can’t be real.
>>57965913There any cringe in this chapter fampai?
>>57966007Nice digits. And yes, Ian fucking sings something. I have no idea where I get this shit but I definitely fucking wrote it.
What main character, be it games, anime or manga would be the easiest one to write as a villain? Not joining an evil team because they're honest to god retarded but doing their own thing, I would pick game Calem/Serena if they became immortal at the end of their plot
>>57965771I keep documents tracking things like characters' Pokemon teams, important things on their person, story hooks with them, etc. There's also a main outline for the entire story, and I've been experimenting with outlines per-chapter as well. A lot of other lore and random useful bits of ideas get hastily scratched down in physical notebooks I refer back to as needed.
>>57965771I plan it all out in a notepad, then realize one character would've done something differently with the information available to them which forces me to go back and change a line which then butterflies the rest of my planning into oblivion but it's okay because I'm finally finished and wait wouldn't character Z have done Y because they had access to X and oh god it's happening again
>>57965771I have a rough outline and a rough idea of when new characters will come and go.
>>57966077All he wants is a challenge, but nobody can give him one. He knows he could be so much better if there was somebody to push him, like Blue used to do, but he's long surpassed him, along with everybody else. The few challengers he gets anymore are so predictable and simple, they're barely worth the effort. Alone in Mt. Silver, his mind keeps circling back to Giovanni, to the war between the two of them. Why did he feel so alive when fighting the Rockets, in a way he hasn't felt since? He comes to an answer: because he was fighting with his life on the line.
Suddenly, things make sense. The way forward is clear. All beings evolve through conflict, pokemon or human. By killing indiscriminately, he will force someone to rise up and stop him, like he did Giovanni—they'll have to. And in the meantime, he'll amuse himself by dealing with everything they throw at him, every league hit squad, gym leader, Elite, Champion. He finds a hiker on his way out, kills her violently, and smears himself top to bottom in her blood, aided by the light of the moon. Now, he truly is Red—he ventures out into the night to begin his reign of terror.
>>57965700 (OP)How do fish-like Pokemon battle on land? Do they float slightly above the ground like in the games or do they flop like Magikarp?
>>57966393The same way land pokemon battle in water, the same way land and fish pokemon battle in the sky, and the same way land fish and sky pokemon battle in space.

Nothing to write home about but the pacing is refreshingly speedy since each adventure isn't a 10k word arc.

I started my pokedex drabble series on /vp/ back in the day and it's finally done, again... until they release more pokemon anyway
>>57965700 (OP)I interpret the dex cuts as certain regions banning various pokemon to protect their fragile ecosystems
>>57966393There's a reason why even in the anime fishmons are non-existences.
>>57966426You post it anywhere?
>>57965700 (OP)>>57965744>thread questionIt would be an interesting (dystopian) concept if there's a region where people are really fed up with pokemon (because recently some pokemon leveled several town and caused lots of casualties etc. https://archive.palanq.win/vp/thread/57866763/#57876733) so only a few pokemon necessary for maintaining the ecosystem are allowed to exist (even harsher than the dex cut, something around Gen1's original number). Battling as a sport is disliked and having pokemon in public is only allowed if they're "harmless" or fulfilling a necessary role in society (like Chanseys in Pokécenters, Arcanines in law enforcement etc.)
Outlawed pokemon are either confiscated or - if necessary - taken down (again, it's a dystopian scenario).
>but good luck enforcing bans on magical creatures that don't give a fuck about human borders across an entire country. That region could have more advanced tech compared to the rest of the world, so they're capable of fighting pokemon without using pokemon.
>>57966573This is pretty much why the village in PLA was founded. Alternate Timeline where Jubilife Village never gets over its fear of pokemon and this is modern day Sinnoh.

In official tournaments they will allow some water in the arena for fairness.
Abilities that generate water and control the weather will make them more viable, there's also mobility moves like aqua jet.
Overall they are still disadvantaged on land but doesn't that make sense? Most land Pokémon would have trouble too in water.

Started posting the WIPs for Pokenormal.
They say Blue was seen during the Team Rocket takeover of Silph Co. Coincidentally Team Rocket was suspected to be involved with the destruction of the Viridian Gym, and the previous gym leader vanished without a trace before Blue took over. Is Professor Oak's grandson a member of Team Rocket?
Anyways, this has nothing to do with our protagonists.
>>57966393I read a story that had a Team Aqua member send out a flopping Carvahna they would slam into things with Aqua Jet and then leap to bite into them after. I imagine it’s something like that.
>>57967344>No, see, we're doing this for others' sake. Any trainer stories with Larvesta involved? It's an odd one to have around since it's borderline useless until it evolves.
Anything dealing with Pokémon training from a military point of view? Or even with police/detective stuff?
>>57968407Not a full story, but I have had some drafts for some crack-ish one shots with Scottish Gloria, some of which were inspired by Samurai Jack's run-ins with the Scotsman.
>>57967990go for it and have fun!
>>57968728I am writing a detective story, but it's a paranormal comedy. The main characters are not trainers and their pokemon are just pets that may or may not be helpful when facing blood thirsty ghosts. So its probably not what you're looking for.
I know there was that official animated short where Looker leads a swat team into Viridian Gym to capture Giovanni.
>>57968658Really? I think Larvesta is like the most popular out of the special potential mons. Problem is, fics never go long enough for them to cash in on the Volcarona.
Anyways off the top of my head
Spoon still has their Larvesta in an egg they got from nepotism
Scuttling Mob and Blazing the Competition got theirs from the Relic Castle Volcarona
>>57968994Didn't get that far in Spoon. Is it bad the chapter naming theme just put me off that much? I'll have to check out Blazing the Competition as it's not dead.
>>57968407>implying Galar gets fics
>>57969157What region does get fics nowadays? Paldea despite being the best selling game didn't really have any impact in the fandom beyond looking like a joke thanks to Geeta, Poppy and the new anime.
>>57969157If I wasn't balls deep into a project right now I'd be tempted to "fix" Galar's story. There's interesting potential there, just absolutely awful execution on GF's part. Although I'd probably piss off most of the small group of Galar fans by replacing Dynamaxing with Mega-Evolution or a "Max" equivalent because fuck Dynamax/Gigantamax
>>57969082Maybe. Spoon's chapter naming is pretty fucking retarded and makes it impossible to find and reread some events among other issues.
>>57968645Come up with names for armament manufacturers in the PokéWorld. Could be also subdivisions of existing corporations (like Silph Co., Devon Corporation or Macro Cosmos).
>>57969218What do you think about the concept of "anti" powers, which could disrupt / neutralize gimmick powers?
Why? All of the gimmick powers have SI prefixes of positive powers of 10 in their name:
> Mega Evolution = mega (M), 106> Gigamax = giga (G), 109> Terastallize = tera (T), 1012> Z-Moves = zetta (Z), 1021Since there are negative power of 10 as well, you get:
>micro (µ), 10-6>nano (n), 10-9>pico (p), 10-12>zepto (z), 10-21Anti-powers could be so obscure and latent that it's hard to detect or trigger, explaining why little to nothing is know about them. But despite this, they're very powerful and capable of tampering with mentioned gimmick powers, making their use chaotic or impossible to use.
Something in reference to obscure topics of physics (like anti / dark matter or anti / dark energy).
>>57969423messed up the formatting, correction:
> Mega Evolution = mega (M), 10^6> Gigamax = giga (G), 10^9> Terastallize = tera (T), 10^12> Z-Moves = zetta (Z), 10^21>micro (µ), 10^-6>nano (n), 10^-9>pico (p), 10^-12>zepto (z), 10^-21
>>57969423Negative powers don't work because they're not actual negative values, just really small values.
>>57969423You mean like 40k Blanks?
They suppress and neutralize psychic phenomena but the trade off is that they literally have no soul. People can sense this because everyone who isn't a blank is some form of psychic, no matter how weak it is and as a result find Blanks repulsive to be around. There are some accounts of Blank babies getting smothered in their cribs and grown Blanks killing themselves because they sense there is something wrong.
>>57969157People love writing Leon and the galarian gym leaders tho
>>57969662>Rose is so desperate to make Leon relevant he's even shilling across the multiverse

>b-but most of it is gay fujo shit—Yeah. Fuck you anyway.
>>57969462If you multiply a positive power with its inverted negative power (so basically dividing a number by itself), you get 10^0, or 1. Which is, considering power scaling, neutral.
>>57969536Something like that, yeah. The concept of Blanks sounds like a permanent trait. But I guess anti-powers could be both passive (genetic mutation, rare variation which is sensitive to it) and active (like gimmick powers, an surge in energy making pokemon stronger).
Could be also some sort of corruption, like Shadow Pokemon.
Do we know anything about the structure of the International Police in Pokemon? I was wanting to give Looker a promotion but I dunno what to call him. Just Director I guess?

>>57971538Thankfully he has 3 dragonites, one for each.
'Oh no my bitchy cousin has been mind controlled. What a moral dilemma. Dragonite, hyperbeam.'
So we have pokemon like Onix and Aggron eating earth to offset how much extra earth is created by pokemon magic.
But are there any pokemon who naturally consume massive amounts of water? Like not just drink it occasionally like other living beings or Storm Drain it in battle, but like actually consume massive amounts of water and convert it into magical fuel or whatever.
Because there's an awful lot of water being created by pokemon moves regularly. It has to go somewhere, right? Team Aqua can't win this easily, right?

Man, I'm thinking about populating my American region and it's a bit disappointing but also funny with how SMALL Unova is.
So far I have:
1. Gen 1 as canonical grunt pokemon (starters for NCOs, commonish mons like Rattata and Machop for grunts, etc.), inspired by three threads on the suptg archive. Also, Hitler researching the creation of the Uberpoke, as per the same thread. He doesn't make Mewtwo by the war's end however, that's up to Giovanni, as a deviantion from those threads. In addition, several war Pokemon like that beta Octillery.
2. Pawniard and Bisharp working with the 442nd Regiment in the European theatre (Go for Broke!). Therefore the list of Unovan pokemon must exist throughout America.
3. Normal, Fighting, Dark & Psychic (Cold War moment), and Poison (Arsenal of Democracy manufacturing -> Rust Belt) would be very common type switches for the regional variants. As per the 1996 pokedex translation by Nob, "In general, there are many filthy Pokémon but they are guilty of nothing. Instead, we should be thankful to them – they serve as mirrors that reflect how our way of life affects the world around us.” Western Pokemon will look and adapt very differently from natives in Kanto, Kansai, Kyūshū, etc., and even between states.
4. In the same Pokedex translation, Pokemon research started in the late 1700s with Baron Tajirin --- that's a shitton of time and major world events between then and NOW, so I have my fucking work cut out in worldbuilding with pokemon lol.
5. No creation myth legendaries (Gen 4+). I'm only going as far as Groudon and Kyogre being exploited by their respective Teams, and perhaps only Mew since it was found in S. America. Two Victinis would be extremely funny but that's pushing it. The lore is following the early generations where it's in the real world and "Pokemon have purpose" like Lapras giving rides on water and Rhydon moving heavy loads.
What's your favorite American animal not covered in Unova?
>"Bwuh... w-what," the rocket stammered. "That's not... you're not supposed to attack me! That's not fair! You didn't even let me finish speaking!"
>"Cry about it. Loki," I grunted.
>The Rocket went pale as, a low snarl sounded out from behind him and he, along with all the hostages, jumped high at the sight of my Zoroark materializing from thin air
>>57976425Ekans has a tail like a rattlesnake but this is never mentioned or displayed in any of it's behavior. Rattlesnakes are quintessentially part of the Wild West and are exclusively a new world species, so a desert Unovan variant Ekans could exist.
The United States was also home to the largest locust population in the entire world until we accidentally drove them extinct in a few decades. The Rocky Mountain Locust was famed for having swarms as big as the state of California. There's probably something you could do with that.
Along the same vein of insect swarms, you also have the Monarch Butterfly and it's incredibly long and massive migrations. Butterfree could fill that role.
>>57976400>But muh honorable criminals is a dumb idea that’s entirely sidestepped by pragmatism. It is, yes, but not only that guy but many others think that in a world with Pokémon humans would forget their nature or that real evil isn't a thing because grunts "don't know" that their bosses want to destroy the world/kill millions

Do readers really gobble up the “Pokémon world social media” chapters? At least Fugg had a storyline come from it.
>>57977409Its just a variant of the side characters or local powers glazing the protagonist for being clever, cool, etc trope.
>>57977409>Pokémon world social mediaI know that's popular in SB and AO3, and yes they do, blame korean manhwa since that's an easy way to hype your MC
>>57977409People gobble up social media chapters in general in most fics.
That's why you see the same PHO format used over and over
>Welcome to the Parahumans Online message boards.>You are currently logged in, Anonymous>You are viewing:>• Threads you have replied to>• AND Threads that have new replies>• OR private message conversations with new replies>• Thread OP is displayed.>• Ten posts per page>• Last ten messages in private message history.>• Threads and private messages are ordered chronologically.
If there was a way to easily make fake 4chan threads I would have screencap chapters. A fake thread chapter with a screencap of the thread at the end would be a funny way to glaze a character.
Especially if they shitpost there throughout their journey. Just complete side chapters of the MC anonymously shitposting throughout his journey.
>>57977451If you right click + inspect on some text you can just edit it directly to make it say whatever you want and screenshot that.
>>57977471could also host a fake 4chan for readers and let the audience make rp shitposts before compiling the best stuff together for 4mon chapters
>>57977409For my detective story I plan on having some social media interaction. More so as a possible source of leads, contacts, or clues. But it would also be fun to explore concepts like conspiracy theories and the spread of misinformation via the poke'web.
>>57977409>his fic doesn't have a chapter that's just anons shit posting about in universe current events on Ivysaurchan
>>57977511But what if my MC doesnt come in contact with an Internet-connected computer until like halfway through the story? Oh and there’s also no cell service.
>>57977526What? You can't figure out a solution yourself? You need me to baby you?
>>57977409Those are a variant of reaction cutaways that are popular in all manner of things, and people love reaction cutaways both because they stall the creators for time and because the viewers/readers get to watch people glaze the MC. Animated series are notorious for them.
Should a Pokémon trainer be fit?
I'm not including aura in my story, but while getting lectured by a mentor character, my MC brings up if aura's a thing. Is it too insulting to readers/writers that like/use aura in their stories if the mentor just tears the whole concept of aura to shreds and laughs in the MC's face about it? I feel like that might be too heavy-handed. But part of this fic is getting my gripes out about the over-prevalence of certain things in Pokemon Fanfiction
>>57977570Depends on their resources and means of travel but generally yes. Everyone should be fit but trainers especially benefit because it involves a lot of physical activity.
>>57977604That’s fine. You see it happen in stories from time to time.
>>57977570No. If a pokemon trainer is fit then it shows they haven't properly trained their pokemon to handle their share of the work.
Fair skinned, thin and regal, long hair, demure aura. These are the hallmarks of a talented trainer.
>>57977604I don't think that should anger anyone. Hell, i plan on my SI to try fanon things only to get humiliated or suffer defeats. Nutrition? Common sense. Aura? Cool story, bro. Undiscovered types? Everyone and their mother knows of Fairy, bucko. It's to hammer the point that the world ain't like common fanon and the SI isn't gonna have powers that'll give him easy wins.
>>57977604So long as you have the mentor character make it abundantly clear that many people have tried and all of them have failed, and that perhaps in another magical world it's real but here it's nothing but a child's fairy tale.
Just like magic our own world.
>>57977604So long as you have the mentor character make it abundantly clear that many people have tried and all of them have failed, and that perhaps in another magical world it's real but here it's nothing but a child's fairy tale.
This way it's abundantly clear to readers that you're not saying aura shouldn't exist in any story, only that it doesn't exist in your story.
>>57977604Have the 'mentor' character go on a tirade about how aura is unrealistic, but 3 paragraphs in the MC gets irritated and blasts them out of the building with an aura sphere.
>>57977649This, but have the mentor do it and tell the mc that he ain’t shit
>>57977604>"what about psychics like sabrina mentor-">WHAT ABOUT THEM?!
>>57977658Yeah, do psychics also exist? Or is it like
>oh, psychics? Yeah they’ve been a thing since forever
>>57977624Don't listen to this guy. You're going to get molested.
>>57977604>if the mentor just tears the whole concept of aura to shreds and laughs in the MC's face aboutA bit but nobody will care, you're not the first to try nor the last that will, the Reset Bloodlines guy did the same. But if you're really that worried make it so that aura is really, really, hard to develop so it turned into a myth and some user tell your MC that while aura is real it can kill if you overuse it since it is, literally, his life force and only freaks of nature would survive the really advanced stuff
>>57977658Since human aura users are basically a critically endangered breed it makes sense that there'd be little tutorials or guidance on the nurturing and usage of it which will increase the chances of people crippling themselves with no guidance. Being instructed by aura using Pokémon like Lucario might seem like common sense but they are built very differently from a human so that could easily backfire and lead to crippling.
Meanwhile Human Psychics are apparent from birth with widely different levels of potential and are common enough for people to have schools on developing these powers further.
>>57977730>which will increase the chances of people crippling themselves with no guidance.your xianxia is showing
>>57977732I think he's taking after nen more than cultivation

>>57977732It's common exercise logic.

Thank you anons, couldn't give (you's) cuz 4chan thought it was spam. I think I'm gonna have him walk back the humiliation ritual a bit and mention he's met one, but they're all banned from trainer battles (this mentor is former Elite 4 so it seems plausible). During his hysteric meltdown he references "like the Aura Guardians in all of those comic books?" and goes on to say Aura guardians do exist but it's not at all like the comics etc.
>>57977649Okay Rian Johnson.
>>57977807>but it's not at all like the comicsSo what would be the difference? I like when people try to do something beyond punching harder, so please tell me bro.
>>57977807>but they're all banned from trainer battlesWouldn't that make a bigger mess tho? Like why would they be banned but not psychics or empaths?
>>57977811Aura Guardians are all pokemon-touching pervs, of course they'd be banned
>>57974625You’re saying Dynamax is hard to write? It’s basically just a regular fight scene except the fighters are big
>>57977812Nah, that'd be dragon clan faggots
>>57977813Nta but Pokémon battles are supposed to be like in combat sports, fast as fuck, and having giant mons would limit your writing a lot.
Like are they slower thanks to their size?
>>57977780>Unless you're one of those bullshit anime geniuses in which case disregard this.Got it, thanks, I'll disregard it
Okay, so how exactly would you guys write powers, be it psychic, aura, magic or the burst crystals, in a story? The "everybody can use them so it isn't special" is one of the most common ideas talked here but a bit lazy if being honest
>>57977808It would take an essay to give full details, but my old headcanon on "aura" was that a trainer could greatly enhance a Pokemon's power. I always try to keep Pokemon the focus of the battles in Pokemon, if the trainer is using Aura Spheres and doing jedi shit it kinda defeats the purpose (to me at least). The "Aura Channeler" as I call them in my headcanon basically channels their own life force into their Pokemon and unlocks significantly heightened capabilities. Super advanced ones can have their Lucario's Aura Sphere change types... They also serve as the bridge between spiritual sights with heightened spiritual energy aka Legendary areas or sacred spots (I haven't fleshed out this autism in a while so I'm having a hard time explaining it and my PC with it recently died).
>>57977811So for my personal headcanon it's because they can make average Pokemon able to fight on par with a Legendary, it's just not fair. For this story I'm thinking of it's a slippery slope of feeling that Pokemon's pain, sensory overload etc. and it easily drives Aura Guardian-types crazy. And by trainer battles I mean Professional Battles, as their whole point is to be the last resort for legendaries going nuts.
>>57977856And to clarify "jedi shit" means the super speed, super jumps etc. Having heightened sensory is part of being an Aura Channeler.
>>57977822I don't think it lowers speed. Also every basic attack would be scaled upto include AOE
>>57977856Huh, funny. You just described Yellow from PokéSpe, look her up if you don't know about her since it will probably help you more than whatever we can say.
>>57977878I think we've had this discussion months ago because I was about to add "sort of like Yellow from them manga but not quite." Glad to see I'm not the only long time poster in this thread.
>>57977852If you're not born with a type affinity then you're stuck with practicing aura which is the weakest(but secretly strongest)
>>57977903I think that was probably me if there was a pic about her powers involved...
>>57977361The 10 year old child is a trap. If the child gets hurt it's escalation which immediately authorizes the 99999 league officers to go in with bodycams off.
>>57977604>>57977807Nothing wrong with venting against the usual cliches, specially so if you twist them and subvert them in a meaningful manner, but if you're a mean spirited cunt about it and living and breathing contrarianism is all your fanfic is about it's just as trashy if not even worse than the generic stuff you're crying about. At the end of the day no one wants to feel like they're being lectured to.
Popular things are popular for a reason no matter how much people want to be a hipster in denial about them.
>>57977822Not all pokemon are fast already so it would be a good skill to practice to write slower combatants.
But dynamax, even if it trades for speed, produces overwhelming power and bulk. Even if both combatants are dynamaxed their blows should still be spectacularly devastating. They are using so much power they change the weather with regular attacks, so the collateral damage would be high in places that aren't specifically built to handle them.
You gotta think of it like Power Ranger zord fights, or godzilla level kaiju brawls. Big flashy climaxes, or world shaking brawls. Or, for things like raid battles, full on 'heroes vs the dragon' style fights where the stakes are high and every member needs to be pulling their weight.
>>57977852Different stories write their power systems in different ways. It's ultimately up to how you want that power to service your story. A benefit of having multiple power systems active at once is that it allows each one to fill a particular niche. One Piece is an example of a story with different power systems (fruits, haki, technology, magic...), and this lets different characters be useful for different situations.
Or if you want a unified power system it can be useful for giving the powers clear structure and rules. This lets you explore powers in a more tactical sense as the reader will be able to follow what is happening easier. Even if somebody pulls out some crazy power, both the characters and the readers already have a basic understanding of how those powers work on a fundamental level. This lets them more easily to sell 'ahah!' moments where another character uses a power to cleverly overcome a foe.
You can also mix these two styles, as each different power system in a broader story can have it's own concrete rules. But effectively conveying this takes more time.
>>57977852The Ratatouille method is unironically best. Not everyone can be a great chef, but a great chef can come from anywhere.
Lots of humans in my fic have the potential to attain incredible power, but the tortuous level of effort required to attain it means very few will ever actually go to those lengths for something they may never even attain. Prodigies like Sabrina got a leg up with their powers, but that doesn't mean it was easy to master them.
>>57977852>>57978377But to answer your question more specifically, here is one way I might write each of your examples. Pretty much, I give each of them a niche, how one acquires or trains that power, and basic rules and logic that the powers should 'usually' follow. Its okay to not reveal all the rules to the reader, but silently following them will give a sense of believe ability to the powers. If you want to break the rules its a good idea to give proper weight (and eventual explanation) to such an occurrence.
Aura: Iconic - A power unique to the setting, this lends it very well to both following special rules and also being able to do unexpected bullshit. A physical product of the body with a more spiritual source. Technically anybody can train it, but certain mindsets lend themselves better to fostering its growth. Overall its a loose concept that people will be more forgiving if you experiment with it, and has a 'specialness' quality due to being unique to the setting.
Psychic: Familiar - A concept not unique to pokemon, giving it a berth of cultural identity to draw from. This is useful in that you don't have to explain much, you can say 'psychic' and the reader will immediately fill in the blanks for what that means with their own understanding. This makes them easier to insert into a story, but also means readers will be expecting things based on their own biases. Its less immediately flexible, because if you do something that goes against the reader's prebuilt understanding it can be jarring. And you can't control that bias, so plan accordingly. It is a more 'realistic' power than Aura because its components are real. The source is the brain, a real organ. It is also available to anybody technically, but gifted individuals have such an immediate advantage that most people don't realize this. This gives it a 'specialness' quality, but since its in other syories its a different kind of special. Special in the setting, but not as special to the reader.
>>57977852>>57978468Magic: Bullshit - Magic is both the most common and the most flexible of all of these examples because it is the most vague. Magic itself is not a system, its a concept. There are a lot of different systems of magic from super specific rulesets to the classic 'I ain't gotta explain shit'. Hell, the other power systems of pokemon can even each be called different forms of magic. But basic 'Magic' also has a prebuilt bias, so calling something specifically Magic builds off of this. In Pokemon it is rare and leans heavy into the bullshit side, able to do whatever the story needs without bothering to explain much. This works in a setting like the anime where it doesn't need anymore depth, but using it in a more serious work of fiction will stick out like a sore thumb if used without caution. Generally you want to figure out a balance between what it's capable of with how much 'logic' it requires. The more power and versatility it has the more explanation it demands to be believable. It can also be an internal or external skill, meaning you can have talent for it but with the right knowledge anybody can master it as well as anybody else if you choose.
>>57977852>>57978494Burst: Artifact - Power that comes completely from an external source from the user. This allows flexibility and restrictions in different forms than the other examples. There is a lot of flexibility in what the power system can do, but that flexibility is limited into very specialized powersets based on what crystal (the artifact) the user has access to. Also there is potential for anybody to easily use these powers with the only limit being able to acquire them. This lends itself well to giving characters new and interesting abilities frequently if need be while also being able to take those powers away just as easily. It also lends itself well to Donut Steel OC power fantasies as the narrowly defined yet versatile options give readers a simple 'I would pick this one' jumping board for their imaginations. The downside of this is that if these artifacts are common then they are going to eclipse other power systems with how easy they are to use, and if they are rare then they lose that flexible versatility almost to the point where they aren't even a power system.
>>57978594Would you consider the weird shit channelers, hex maniacs and ghost experts do as a variant of psychic power?
>>57978602Personally no. They could easily be written as a form of psychic powers, or even aura. But the unexplained "weird shit" is text book magic. Unexplained strangeness thats vague enough about whats happening that you can get away without explaining anything. Hell, with spooky ghost stuff its often better to leave stuff mysterious and unexplained. But like I said, if you are looking to have an explanation for it then it being a form of psychic expression is a pretty easy one to use. Ghosts and psychics fall under the same thematic 'paranormal' umbrella more than general magic does, and ghost and psychic already has a connection in pokemon already.
I like when technology can keep up with supernatural powers
>>57978919Im pretty sure that technology in pokemon is actually magitech at least in the most crazy and kinda fantastical cases
>>57978932Magitech is magitech because of the source of the tech. That source being magic of some kind.
The technology in pokemon is usually just pure sci-fi tech.

>>57980225Haven't wrote anything yet, but... It's an SI in the Orre region, around the beginning of Colosseum. The SI is on the assumption that the MC of Colosseum is around to save the day, so he ignores the main plot and plans to just have fun because he's in the Pokemon world. Later, he realizes the Hero is nowhere to be found and concludes that he's in some sort of a doomed world where the bad guys win. So he has to decide to step in or not.
>>57980324>The SI is on the assumption that the MC of Colosseum is around to save the day, so he ignores the main plot and plans to just have fun because he's in the Pokemon world. Later, he realizes the Hero is nowhere to be found and concludes that he's in some sort of a doomed world where the bad guys win.How long of a period is this? Like is the bad guy 1 step away and it basically is nothing like colosseum? Or is it early on chapter 1 but some bad thing happened that should have been stopped?
my advice, unless having no og protag is super important, have him distracted by some change that occurred the SI didn't account for. That way you can still use their characters because honestly they don't have much personality in people's minds, so anything you write for them is going to be fair game, especially if you justify it with the world being slightly off.
>>57980334>Or is it early on chapter 1 but some bad thing happened that should have been stopped? That one. Team Snagem goes on a stealing spree in Phenac City. That never happened in the original Colosseum, so it catches the SI by surprise.
>>57980388then I stand by my rec. I think most people don't really know about orre, so getting rid of the original protag just confuses the whole thing. Make them your own versions and come up with a reason they missed snaggem, then MC can intersect or interact as you please. Or have him gone entirely and replace his actions, since he has a companion that needs to be accounted for (that the SI can waifu if the OG character isnt around all the time).
That said, even if you didn't have him now, I'd have him in the back pocket for later just in case, never confirm anything only imply.

This is basically if Pokemon were replaced with SMT demons, but people still send their kids out unsupervised with demons?
Also the demons don't talk so they're significantly less interesting.

Alrighty, what’s the best way of getting exposure on Space Battles? I already have the SI/Isekai/meta knowledge BS down. I’m gonna post the first six 6 chapters on the first day (for story reasons) then go one at a time until I catch up to things (gives me a good two weeks of every day posts), then weekly updates following.
>>57980408>then I stand by my rec. I think most people don't really know about orre, so getting rid of the original protag just confuses the whole thing. Make them your own versions and come up with a reason they missed snaggem, then MC can intersect or interact as you please. Or have him gone entirely and replace his actions, since he has a companion that needs to be accounted forHmm. I'd have to think on this.
>(that the SI can waifu if the OG character isnt around all the time).Funny thing is i planned on having Sabrina being the SI's partner. She'd be a Faller so she'd have memory loss. Her and the SI would fall in love way later. But i decided to drop that idea.
>That said, even if you didn't have him now, I'd have him in the back pocket for later just in case, never confirm anything only imply.I'll keep that in mind. Think it's a good idea to have the Colosseum MC act as a mentor of sorts to the SI? A mentor for Pokemon Battling and living in Orre.

>>57980558Since you're trying to maximize exposure
>I’m gonna post the first six 6 chapters on the first day (for story reasons)For starters, don't do this if you can afford not to. At the very least put a few hours between each chapter to milk front page exposure and maybe squeeze in some discussion posts to make the thread look healthier and give late readers some reactions and discussion to consume between chapters so they can avoid burnout.
>>57980588The world is not very united, and you can find different rules for DemiMon from one town to the next.
There is a military centered around the major cities, they have some DemiMon at their use. No Major plans for them yet, but will develop one over time.
There is a Church, they worship the one true DemiMon. Their congregation is not allowed to use DemiMon at all. There are many other temples and religions based around different DemiMon.
In the past, Moloch was one of the most powerful DemiMon, with a large city build because of him.
>>57980558>I already have the SI/Isekai/meta knowledge BS downYou're missing the canon character for your SI to flex on, also try to put (SI story) after the name because they can be a little slow along with some pretentious or "clever" title
>>57980599>At the very least put a few hours between each chapter to milk front page exposure and maybe squeeze in some discussion postsMostly this too, back to back chapters tend to get ignored thanks to the sites format and color palette, even more so in mobile. The best would be to wait for two or three posts in the thread and going by their rules you can't bump your thread nor double post until somebody else posted there or a certain number of hours passed.
>>57980608Interesting, I suppose you have a plan for human-looking demons like succubi or werewolves/vampires/etc too.

over and sticking her huge ass in the air.cringed, putting some extra pressure into shitting out the women. Penny's tight asshole spread open almost three feet, as a jumbled amalgamation of scatues started to come back out. The very start of this steamy mess had Clair's thick butt front and center. Her asshole and pussy oozed anal slime. The fat load inched out, showing Clair's thighs and tummy. Her left thigh was missing a glob and inside was a femur, as well as a misplaced lower jaw. By Clair's pussy was Nemona's face, though the scat didn't recreate it fully. One side was perfect, with her lips puckered and eyes looking off in the distance, while the other side had shit oozing from her skull, which was missing her lower jaw. “HHNNNGHHH!!! COME ON!!” Grunted Penny. Melony and Cynthia were on the sides, with Cynthia's feet attached to the left side of Clair's ass, while Melony's arms were on the other side. The giant scatue was tearing Penny's asshole to shreds.
A glob of Clair's ass fell off, hitting the ground with a gooey SPLAT.
PPPPLLOORRPPP FFRRRRRRTTT
Cynthia's legs were all fucked up, with her crunched calves exposed the more the scatue came out. Clair's spinal cord was scraping against Penny's rectum, making the chubby trainer howl in pleasure. While Nemona's chin was basically glued to Clair's belly button, her head was twisted the wrong way. Her shoulders came out, completely exposed with bones. Melony's arms were perfect and soon her head was coming out. The final look of pain was reflected, with her mouth wide open and pupils shrank to the point they were barely noticeable. What made it worse, was Melony's head wasn't even attached to her shit torso, with a few inches of scat leaving before her shoulders came out. Nemona's tits popped free, with a wet SPLLRRP, as shit oozed from her dark brown nipples. The wet shit ran down, suddenly going over Cynthia's head.
>>57980562>Think it's a good idea to have the Colosseum MC act as a mentor of sorts to the SI? I have literally no idea what his story is at all. He's just the edgy nevada protag that nintendo said no more of.

I NEVER STALKED ANYOME NIGGER
KEEP SEETHING
This caused her melting tit that was completely separated from her body to pop into mush. Penny was all clean after an hour and struggled to get out. “Bet-BBUUURRRPP urf…” Said Penny, slapping her gut. Clair's bulge was just bones and Melony was so badly damaged it was a miracle she was alive. Penny dried off and crushed her gut through the door, hearing soft bones snap. “I'm thirsty.” Said Penny, getting some juice from the fridge. She went to her small counter, bending over a bit, but this caused Melony's neck to hit the edge.
CCCRRUNNNNCCCCHHHHHHHH
Penny didn't even flinch as she brutally crushed Melony's neck, killing the woman in her gut.
Penny slurped her juice down, loving the flavor of cherry dancing on her tongue. Inside of her stomach, Nemona and Cynthia were left alive, being splattered by the juice. Nemona wasn't even close to as badly melted as Cynthia. The blonde woman was half-skeleton, with half of her face melted down to her skull. “Do something…please…” Begged Cynthia, before her other cheek tore and her lower jaw hung loose. Nemona didn't even have arms, what was she going to do? Nemona sat there, as Cynthia melted away. The blonde woman finally died, with her brain starting to leak from her ears. “Oh god oh god oh god….PENNY WHY!?!” Screamed Nemona. With Cynthia dead, the original three were all just a nasty mixture of bones and dead meat. Penny's stomach was almost filled to the brim with stomach acid, which was bubbling against Nemona's back. Nemona looked to her side, seeing Cynthia's remaining eye turn into goop, before her body completely sank under her.
BBBLLRRPP CRRRUNCH CHUURNN
Nemona hated every second of her slow demise, wishing it would end.

“KYA!! That young lady!! H-how did she even manage to fit us all in her stomach?!” Yelled Melony. Cynthia didn't have an answer, trying to move at the top. “IT DOESN'T MATTER!! UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE SHIT FOR SOME TEEN YOU BETTER KEEP FIGHTING!!” Yelled Cynthia. The women were all in disarray, but the acid made it worse. Penny's potent stomach acid was running down the walls and dripping on their bodies. The pain was immediate, as Clair screamed at the bottom. “MY ASS REALLY BURNS!!” Screamed Clair. That burning sensation started to spread, as the grunting and yelling of women trying to figure a way out of their predicament turned into erratic screaming of pain and agony.
Ten minutes of waddling and stumbling back to her dorm room, Penny finally saw the door. “Yes fi-Said Penny, belching up Cynthia's hair ribbons. A girl was next to her when it happened and looked at Penny with a scared look. Penny kept on moving, as the girl ran off terrified. Penny reached her dorm, unlocking the door and casually walking in, at least she tried. The fat belly rammed against the frame, making the girls yelp. “Fuck…” Muttered Penny. Penny pushed hard, grunting in pain as her stomach was confined in the door. “COME ON!!! BELLY!! GET THROUGH!!” Thought Penny.
Bones were violently crushed by the door, but with Clair's legs snapping at her knees, the gut managed to pop through. The horrid cries of pain kept on going, but Penny ignored them and closed the door behind her. Penny kicked her boots off and removed her skirt, before sliding her socks off and letting her sweaty feet breathe. Sweat was dripping off her gut and face. “Fucking finally…” Said Penny, sitting on her bed and leaning back. The gut sloshed, with a wave of boiling hot acid splashing on them.
Now that Penny was all alone, she smiled, as she could do whatever she wanted. “Who knew a pack of thick sluts would just be waiting for me~.” Moaned Penny, grabbing Cynthia's bulging tits and squeezing as hard as she could.

Perhaps with tensions or contradiction, like despite condemning DemiMons, some also employ those to destroy the greater evil, which eventually backfires.
Also, did you based this series on the Testament of Solomon? It's a non-canonical scripture about King Solomon receiving a ring from archangel Michael which allowed him to control demons. Which he commanded to build the temple. In other words, there's an ancient document about King Solomon playing pokemon, but with demons.
At what point should you introduce a Pokemon you've been training to sexual advances? Does being in a pokeball make them follow any sort or command, even if it's sexual in nature, or do you have to employ the use of chemicals or psychics when they're not in the mood?
