I think Empoleon looks too gimmicky, Prinplup still has an unfinished waistcoat look, but he looks like a Pokémon with a stout, blubber kind of charm, like an Antarctic Explorer, he should have become a strong-fat Water Fighting combo.

They're stuck in the weird middle ground where even a Eviolite isn't exactly helpful for them.

If they were to add an equivalent of Eviolite that buffs the attack and special attack stat instead then it would be a bit better.

Big Braixen fan here. I think she may be the only mid-stage starter that gets more attention than her fully evolved counterpart (no small wonder, the gen VI starters suck)

Feels like these guys are usually designed last. The first stage has to have mass appeal, the final stage has to look cool and have a unique identity. The middle stage's job is to just naturally connect the two, to varying success.

Ivysaur are the same, if only for Smash.

Among fans, it seems Samurott are only slightly more popular than Dewott. And then there is Grovyle, who are obviously more popular than Sceptile.

I wish I could say the same about Floragato, who instantly won me over on reveal (and me dislike Meowscagada even more). Pignite and Raboot also deserve more love than their final forms.

It gatekeeps tourist furries from latching onto it as a shillmon without weeding themselves out and shitting on Samurott in the process. Dewottfags are as annoying as Grovylefuckers but are at least way easier to avoid
