I always got the impression that they were supposed to be a Relicanth type situation.
Anonymous No.57987575
>>57987449
No, Relicanth is a living fossil that found a stable ecological niche, similar but on a smaller scale to some of Hisui's PokΓ©mon that found this in Kitakami. Like the Coelacanth or the Sakhalin taimen in real life.

The closest thing to AEs would be the chickenosaurus project, which is genetically engineered to stimulate dormant genes like teeth, tails, and claws, or the new dire wolves, which are actually gray wolves that have been manipulated to give them a phenotype similar to that extinct species.

I want more Ancient Evolutions!

inb4 Why is a zebra a woolly rhino?
1 They're distant relatives
2 Our Mammoth is a pig
3 It's part of the charm, a PokΓ©mon suddenly acquiring prehistoric features

That Octillery could be part of electromagnetic evolutions

Eh, there's planty of other mons that evolve from one animal to another. Octillery turns from a fish into a mollusc, lotad goes from a frog into a duck. It's fine, it's cool even.
What are the other two based on? The octillery one makes me think vampire squid, but those aren't extinct.

Probably an evolution based on military technology or the counterpart of Ancient Evolution, Magnetic field evolutions in this case a type of combat drone combined with a vampire squid

While I love Brock from the anime, I hate that they lost that part of his character. He should have been an amateur fossil hunter, not a Pokemon breeder. He should have been our walking encyclopedia of extinct PokΓ©mon, with episodes focused on fossils and other PokΓ©mon with prehistoric traits like Tyranitar, Mamoswinne, Relichant, and Primeape.

Ironically, I enjoyed Rebirth more than the entire World trilogy. It's trash and the human characters are horrible, but it doesn't try to be anything more than what it is: a monster movie to watch while eating popcorn. Still, I don't recommend wasting your money on the movie theater.

The best part is the sea hunt. The worst is the Latino family, at one point, you realized they were untouchable, and their scenes lost all tension. At least I expected a heroic sacrifice from the father, and the girl and her dinosaur friend fall into Disney territory.

Well at least now everyone knows what a movie with the Galarian Chimeras would be like and why almost no one includes them in the fossils. Every time the D-rex appeared I imagined a gigantic Dracovich.

That poor creature looks like it would know nothing but pain it's entire life.
The only movie from the World trilogy I seriously enjoyed was the first one in 2015. Second best movie in the Jurassic franchise while Rebirth continues the downward spiral somehow managing to be worse than Dominion.

Holy fuck this whole sequence of pics is fantastic. Worth the click on this topic alone.

Will also mention to the fossil bros in here, I'm currently writing a (very autistic) fanfic and am working on a scene involving battling an Alpha Tyrunt which the main character catches and makes an integral part of his team. Scene is loosely inspired by the "velociraptors in the tall grass" scene from Lost World I always loved as a kid.
