After two months of painstaking hard work, I am pleased to announce that the archive is now back up, with sections dedicated to the works of all of our major contributors across this thread's one and a half year lifespan. Well, I already have a path, or a prototype for my character. I'm mainly trying to get myself to replay Gen 4, and maybe investigate to play Gen 5 to 7.
I could see a playthrough online, but I feel Pokémon is one of those games you need to play to get.
I'll probably do that with Gen 8 and 9, no way I'm downloading a whole ass emulator to play those games, that have DLC that lock what we called "postgame".
In Gen 10, I'm retiring him for sure.

Sort of. I replayed Gen 1 to 3 many times, but I haven't touch 4 too much, and I haven't played the spin offs (unless you want to count PK: Pinball).
The idea was that he comes from Hoenn, travels around, some things happen to him, he settles down in Gen 9, and by 10 he properly retires.
Gen 11 I will start it with a full new OC, completely separated from the first.

yes to varying degrees. Someone of us play our characters in ttrpgs my character Luke has aged from 17-32 in the campaign I played him in, I'm also writing a novelization of that campaign which is pretty fun to do.

Others will update how their character dresses or looks or add pokemon to their team every now and then. I think we all do something with our characters in one way or another

Quartzanon here. I was looking through the Mega, and inside the Athena folder is one of my OCs. the one with the red eyes. She is the daughter of my OC Darius, named Albâtre
In the Cyril folder, there is a screenshot of Gabriel's Pokemon.
Also in the Quartz folder is a Kirlia that is unrelated to the one Quartz hands around. It is file yidcg9.2.png

This is an updated token for my OC Quartz. I leaned into the Black Butler reference a bit hard on this one; he struck a deal with his starter, Hiver, and she could place a symbol on his body as a form of contract between them. She is a very powerful Pokémon, but to balance it out, her power is sealed. Quartez wanted all of her power, so he had the symbol, an X (From the Roman alphabet, Chi), placed on his eye. I'd say that's quite the development. Quartz started his journey as a bit of a doormat, but now he'll sass you back and has way more of a backbone.

Been thinking about posting the OCs from my fanfictions here. So far they are a Final Fantasy 1 x Pokemon story, a paranormal comedy detective story, and an edgy hyper violent hybrid one shot. Do any of those sound interesting?

Quartz is a twin, so I am biased. But twins are awesome. They have this strong bond that goes beyond just being siblings. In fiction, you can have all kinds of mojo going with them, too. In Quartz and Cobalt's case, they have been resetting the world line to save each other because fate keeps killing one of them off, and when one of them dies, the other one gets all of the other's power.

As for the fic, FF1's plot is so basic that all the characters have only a handful of lines each. I pretty much made OCs with their names to fill out their characters. The MC isn't even named in game so he's a wholesale OC.

I tried to write it so that the story is enjoyable with no knowledge of FF. It's pretty much a pokemon story set in a classic fantasy setting. Tragedy strikes a kingdom and a knight and his blastoise set out to save the world.

Wol: The second strongest knight in the Kingdom of Corneria whose silent competence as a leader of men is greatly respected. Chosen partner of Blastoise, one of the kingdom's legendary pokemon, he struggles to put to words his own self doubt with the lofty responsibilities he has found himself with. Content to live in the shadow of his gifted best friend after always falling just short in talent, but as betrayal threatens to tear the kingdom apart he finds himself the only one able to answer the call of a legendary prophecy.

Tobio: The Assistant Detective of the Celadon Extranormal Detective Agency, which is odd because he is the only person that works at the small office. The conclusion he comes to is that the real detective has somehow been erased from his memories by one of the paranormal threats the agency often deals with. I'm aware of Strangers of Paradise, but I haven't played it myself so no. I'm using mostly the NES version as a basis without some of the major changes made by any of the remakes (looking at you, Flying Fortress). Along with some obscure sources for references, like Captain N or the japanese novelizations. Other than that I'm taking a LOT of liberties to fill out the events of the story and setting to work with pokemon. Not so much that it would be completely unrecognizable to anybody who has played FF1, but enough so that somebody completely unaware of Final Fantasy can enjoy it as medieval fantasy pokemon story.

I like it. I think that the color scheme of her bottoms matches much better with her outfit. Beefcake Ivy was funny but I think the way that you softened her figure, it makes her design work better. I like both the old and new shirts and I think Ivy might change between them occasionally. It seems like you're going for a cross of "streetwear", nurse, and "formal-ish" attire. Now I'm going to review her shopping list.

I like that you didn't shoehorn asymmetry, but I'm just a bit iffy on the inclusion of such a vibrant red because imo it kind of conflicts with the more pastel-ish shirt and pants. If you want to lean more into the “mature and feminine” aspects you could give her some jewelry maybe some cute bracelets, necklace, or a navel piercing (yes I am biased but I do think she’d look good with one and it would help bring out the more feminine figure of her redesign)

Garland: The leader of the Royal Knights division of the Cornerian knighthood, Garland and his partner Charizard have remained undefeated in battle since childhood. But the charismatic young knight in training's pride and confidence never turned to arrogance thanks to his best friends Wol and Blastoise always keeping up one step behind him, and the critical reprimands from Princess Sarah and Venusaur. But after revealing to Wol that a terrifying vision of some approaching calamity has been haunting his dreams he begins to grow distant. With growing desperation he sets a desperate plan in motion protect his friends and home.

As for Tobio's client.

Josalyn: For an appointment she can't remember with who or why, she arrives at the detective agency in the hopes of dispelling a deep sense of loss and dread that has been looming over her. To her dismay she only finds an unprepared Tobio who attempts to introduce her to the world of the paranormal as professionally as possible. Though hardly a skeptic, she and her shiny raticate Amore are practical enough to be wary of scams. And savvy enough to cut her loses and leave when a digital demon trapped on the agency's computer interrupts their conversation in an attempt to possess her. Too bad Tobio is likely the only thing that stands between her and a phantom out for blood.

Now to answer your questions.

Wol starts the story with only a Blastoise, but so far he's gotten a Hitmonchan, Chansey, and Vileplume on his team. Pretty much, since there are six classes in FF1 he is going to have a pokemon for each of them. Blastoise as the Warrior/Knight, Hitmonchan as the Monk, Chansey as the White Mage/Cleric, and Vileplume as the Black Mage/Wizard. I've got two more mons planned for his final team, but that would be spoilers.

Tobio only has his Poochyena as the detective is not a battler. The dark type is the friendliest puppy in the world and will happily burn or electrify its tongue to give a friendly lick to anybody. And while more of a lover than a fighter it will firmly stand its ground against the non-pokemon ghouls and specters that the agency has to deal with. Despite its antics, its a surprisingly polite puppy. It makes sure that its goofy shenanigans only ever inconvenience Tobio and never the clients.

As for why he stopped being a conman... Its fairly simple. The detective agency gave him a chance to use his skills of charismatic manipulation and quick thinking to leave a life of crime behind. He can't remember how it happened, but he feels a debt of gratitude that could only be for the detective that was erased. So the only thing to do is find them regardless of the dangers. He ain't gonna lose to some memory loss.

So I worked out the kinks of my OC's backstory, but then opened up a whole other can of worms with how the overall story of the region plays out. The Player (Protagonist) is sent 10 years into the future by a Pokémon with dominion over Time (Arceus/Dialga/Celebi) and has to continue their journey as if nothing happened, but they learn gradually about their predicament. The Rival (my OC) suffered a number of crushing defeats against the Player & in fact lost one of their Pokémon during their "final" battle against each other (likely either their Morpeko or Weavile- which causes serious, gutting trauma) leading them to changing their entire Type Specialty from Dark to Poison to mitigate all of Dark's weaknesses, becoming the 8th & final Gym Leader of the Region (possibly Unova?) after Roxie leaves the Gym to pursue her career as a Rock Star- but returns after the Rival- whom I'll call Magenta for simplicity's sake, requests their return (or maybe Klara? Idk) in order to challenge the Pokémon League to become the Champion and final challenge in their shared journey. The Rival's Starter will depend on the Type chosen by the Player as usual- but those wouldn't be the official starters of the region obviously.

Yes, Champion Magenta will recognize you (the player) when they meet at the Pokémon League, but it's intended that the Player not immediately recognize their Rival until it's subtly revealed through dialogue- and then explicitly after the battle. And no, the trauma from losing their Sneasel (decided to un-evolve the Weavile making it to where they never got to use the Razor Claw on it, and ended up finding a Hisuian Sneasel to use it on instead) is what spurs them on to change their type specialty and get stronger, but then the Player goes missing because of the 10 year time travel, and without the losses to the player constantly holding them back- they're able to excel and achieve their status as Gym Leader- but upon hearing that they've "returned", that prompts them to relinquish their Gym to their Disciple & become the Champion before the Player has a chance to.

For Wol, well is relative. His story is going to hit every story beat of the original, but the details of why events play out the way they do are fleshed out to suit a story about Pokemon. So if you read like a wiki summary of the story you will know stuff like 'They defeat the pirates and gain a ship, meet a blind witch, meet the dwarves, discover the cursed elf prince, head to the marsh caves to find a crown...' but the actual specifics will be played around with.

For example, the blind witch Matoya in the original games? Matoya is a hex maniac black mage living with the white mage Joy of Pravoka in a pokemon TM (Type Magic) shop they own together. She tends yo an exotic garden behind the shop with her Paras which they use as ingredients for the TMs they sell. But she insists that she is not a witch. That would be her cranky mother, who lives in cave to the north. And her mother is in fact an wise, powerful, and sassy blind Vileplume who has been attacked, cursed, and robbed by an unknown dark elf. Refusing to sit around and rot away while Wol attempts to find a way to save her she joins him as one of the prophesied Pokemon of Light.

But as for well, Wol is suffering from grief of the events of the chaos temple as best as he can. He is also doing his best to protect Princess Sarah's younger sister, Jane Corneria the Second and her pikachu, who immediately ran away from home to follow him on an adventure. She is dealing with her own grief, and despite being an energetic brat the two end up supporting each other as an older brother younger sister sort of relationship. Especially because Jane already assumes the clueless Wol is going to marry her sister Sarah.

For Tobio and leads, the first lead is Josalyn herself. She arrives the same day as he realizes his memory has been altered with memory problems of her own and assumes that this can't be a coincidence. Which is why her deciding she wants nothing to do with the paranormal mere minutes after arriving is a problem. He follows her out into the hallway of the office complex the agency is housed in to try and convince her to stick around. Only for them to be immediately attacked outside the office by... In the setting, all moves are considered a form of magic. Physical moves are just a pokemon's powers expressed through physical forms. And TMs come in a lot of different forms. Single use potions and scrolls, reusable tomes and artifacts, etc... A tome would more likely be a collection of reusable TMs.

Yeah, I never actually played the OG NES version of FF myself. Fake fan lmao. I'm a big fan of the series as a whole and decided that FF1 would be a good place to start when it comes to writing a pokemon fanfic for it. Its so barebones that you get a lot of freedom in interpreting it, which is apparent for the different interpretations the first game has gotten in different remakes and spinoffs.

Wol is actually named after the protagonist Wol from FF Mobius, a phone game that got discontinued that does an alternate tale involving Garland and Sarah and all that. Pretty much the world is prophesized to be saved by a man name Wol, so there is just a constant wave of guys named Wol being isekai'd to the setting in masse. So the majority of NPCs you meet in the game are actually other guys named Wol.

Why does this read like a speed dating profile?

I am playing Pokémon Grey today, and while Quartz and Team Warpstar are still in the distortion world, I get to play Darius. We finally left the tower and got off next to Unova Route 20. The new party got the Pokémon from Team Warpstar's PC, who were thought lost until now. They had been transported to the PMD world and have been on an adventure there, and now those Pokémon return as part of this new team. Darius has one of Quartz's Pokémon, a Patrat named Eyeke, One of Mocchi's Pokémon (the player we kicked out), a Solosis named Goodberry. And a Rowlet named Rowline, who is naturally born from the PMD world.
At long last, the Pokémon journey in Unova can get back on track!

Despite her appearances, Ivy is quite studious and often reads text books about medicine or other pokemon aid related topics. She's not the naturally intelligent type, so she works hard to keep up when it comes to book smarts in her field and loves keep tabs on Pokemon with healing capabilities in her notebook. Besides that, Ivy's subscription to "Machamp & Fitness" magazine keeps her up to date on all the latest fitness trends and pictures of muscular men and Pokemon. She loves a good macho publication.

Sure is. I like to imagine the black belt trainers regularly train and spar with their pokemon and Ivy's no exception. Hitmonchan is her main sparring partner, but she often likes to compete with her other Pokemon in other ways too, like racing or other physical feats. In her epilogue Alola arc, she also manages to subdue a Buzzwole in combat and catch it, adding another sparring partner to her roster.

I thought it was an easy way to soften her up overall and make her a bit more girly. Fun fact, I added the frills on the fist guards to match the ones I put on the socks. So in a chicken and egg situation, thigh highs came first.

I'm not entirely sold on the star logo desu, especially cuz Miko has a heavier star motif. I meant for it to be a kind of an alternate take on a red cross (four points), just felt appropriate to give her some sort of emblem. I considered making it a half pokeball design to ground her in the Pokemon world more, but truthfully just got lazy and didn't want to go back and change it.

Changing out her outfit/mixing and matching is a good idea, especially for a girl who's interested in fashion

I originally had her wearing some form of pink boots/footwear, and it just felt off to me. I think the red on her feet and fists in contrast to her overall pink appearance is a good signifier that those are her "weapons" so to speak. The accents on her top and headgear are there to tie it all together. And it's not like red wasn't a part of her color palate prior. Red and pink go together imo, very valentine-y

Painting a custom pokeball isn't really her style. When it comes to superficial things, she's not really a crafty type of person. She much prefers to buy things already made and wouldn't spend the time it takes to DIY, she's much to impatient for that. That's not to say she won't mix up her own medicines or make a protein shake for her mons, she always has time for fixing up others or getting stronger. Besides, they're too practical and cheap for her not to love them.

I specifically avoided using any combination Poison/Dark-Types because it would mute the whole dynamic Type change if the character didn't completely shed that aspect that resulted in her many defeats, & eventual loss of her Sneasel.

I wouldn't say replace, moreso like- after befriending/catching the Hisuian Sneasel & seeing that it doesn't struggle with the same Type disadvantages as the original, she decides to box her Dark party & pursue a more stable & harmonic team that relies on each other (like Toxic Spikes setup for Venoshock or Hex) I feel like the nostalgic familiarity & fondness for the new Sneasel & her excitement for battle, reignited that desire to keep fighting- and get back on her feet and aim for the top, even if it means crawling at first.

She already got her revenge. Haven't decided between these two scenarios yet- but it turns out that she's responsible for the Player being sent 10 years into the future. (I know this isn't how it works in-game but-) Space Time Distortions pop up occasionally (haven't decided why yet) and similarly to how Pokémon that appear in them vanish along with the Distortions, the Player is either:
Shoved into the Distortion just as it's closing by a shadowy figure (the Rival), or-
The Player & Rival are exploring/investigation a Distortion when it begins to close, and either trips or abandons the Player inside the Distortion after they're able to get out safely. The guilt causes some major changes to their character both good & bad. With their Rival & their greatest obstacle out of the way, they're able to excel and achieve things they weren't previously able to due to discouragement, coming into their own as a successful and well know Gym Leader & member of the Pokémon League. It's only after the Player reappears 10 years later does the trauma kick back in and she has the sudden desire to fight her way to the top again tooth & nail in order to stay ahead of her Rival. She requests the return of the original Gym Leader and leaves the Gym in their hands.

Damn, I'm learning things about my character that I didn't even know myself, got a be real I came up with all this while I was high. I'll take it as a compliment though, I feel like there's still a lot in body the story & characters that need ironing out. And Harley Quinn & Junko Enoshima were major inspirations for the visual design, the overall character was moreso based on myself. I haven't actually seen Land of the Lustrous or Æon Flux but I've been meaning to- wouldn't be the first time I came up with something without any external inspiration that turned out to already exist, it's rare to have na idea that wasn't inspired by an outside source.

The story of Phos is completely different to your OC. The only similarity is the "I can fix her" vibe. After that, they are very distint from each other.

As of now, it's hard to say. I'm quite happy with how Alex's team is but I've always liked the idea of giving him a Mega, the Megas currently available were either strong but unfitting or fitting but not very strong.
Excadrill, Scolipede, Falinks, and Dragalge are all owned already but the two big ones are Chandelure and Greninja because they seem to be the fastest and most offensive ones (though he doesn’t actually have a Greninja currently because I thought it was too cliche and he already has Hisuian Samurott). The two candidates that could be replaced are Glimmora and Aegislash, both for being too slow, but losing the former would damage his ability to set hazards and losing the latter would make his defenses weaker. I will just have to see the new Mega stats.
And now that I mention it, I think that like half the thread now doesn’t know what his team is even like or that I use stats in my writing. I’ve been here for so fucking long…

So how has it been for you all? Alongside University and doing the hunger games, I ended up delving into the Persona gacha that came out last month and the horse girl gacha. I could see that happening, he or one of his pokemon stumbling upon and pocketing a pretty rock. To Miko, if it's shiny it's gotta have some sort of value. Although, even if he were to learn the truth about it, I don't think it would be enough to derail his gimmighoul hunt until he found enough coins to evolve it. (To be honest, he doesn't even know for what purpose he's collecting the coins in the first place. He just knows it's important to gimmighoul and its fun for him. it was a fucking couch. been with me since at least the start of middle school, maybe earlier. just kind of got old and is too much of a hassle to move around. just like me and my existence. just sold it a few minutes ago. will be getting rid of some other stuff that i don't need later today.

if i were a more positive person i would probably write some wankshit about "renewal" and "letting things go" but i just do not see it that way and that is not what i am feeling

anyways since people are still kind of here i may as well announce my plans going forward. it is common practice for artists to reissue their old catalog. once i finish with a project for another fandom i will be working on two unfinished stories from the start of this year to include in a compilation that includes remastered versions of the EIF fanshits, and i may also release separately a rewritten version of the raphael interview and a teaser for the novel that i am working on. to anywho still remembers, you'll probably have to wait until 2026 to read it.

as ridiculous as all of this sounds it is a necessity for me emotionally and corporeally to deal with all of this before finally getting back to my main work. if i continue writing after this, my plans are, in order, to write a bio document which contains an extended anthology of alex's life among other things, to write both a normal and fantasy take on the jacques story, to write the first chapter of alex's fantasy stuff, and lastly a potentially a self-insert take on the jaques story.

if i continue writing, that is. i may just quit writing after releasing my novel to either pursue artwork freely or just go back to gaming since i miss it a lot. i still love this place but i just can't bring myself to produce content or visit as much as i used to.

Oh I loved that game. Pretty much the first couple of levels are full on hack and slash beat em up, and then later you end up leading armies in sort of a pikmin esq style run around and command your guys during battle. You also drive around in a car as the battles get bigger, and eventually also gain the ability to fly and command your units from on high traditional rts style. Best part of the game is the setting which is pretty much 'all classic rock and roll imagery is real'. Your basic grunt units are metal heads who have been enslaved and forced to head bang against rocks to mine instead of using pickaxes and this their neck muscles have grown to massive size.

Yeah it’s going well but it’s gonna take a lot longer than I anticipated it would. So to compensate I started doing a side Story I was going to post later on in the story.

It will focus on the Pirates the main characters met during the ship arc

To summarize their story basically, their parents came to rare encounter with a Darkrai. After that night their mother fell very ill and was getting endless nightmares which was deteriorating both her mind, psyche and overall health. The family was looking for a cure for this and were told the only solutions was to find the legendary Pokemon Cresselia or it’s feathers called lunar Wings

Considering people go through their entire lives without encountering legendary Pokemon they settled on finding the lunar wing which seems more obtainable. So they built a boat and set off to sea in search of it.
