On January 25th, 2016, I began monitoring our board, every night for at least one hour, for any mention of anyone's favorite Pokémon. I did not miss one single 24 hour cycle of dutifully checking every reasonable thread for any mention of anyone's favorite Pokémon until November 1st, 2019, at which point I began only checking once a week, until March 4th, 2021, at which point I gave this autistic shit up altogether.
I adhered strictly to the following guidelines:
>erase any Pokémon that anyone claims as their "bro"
>erase any Pokémon that anyone claims as their "favorite", including simply posting a pic of said Pokémon in a "favorite Pokémon" or similarly designated thread
>even if someone talks about the favorite of someone else they know, erase ‘em
>attempting to claim a full evolution line as either "bro" or "favorite" disqualifies the claim
I honestly forgot I did this, just stumbled back upon it and thought I’d share. I know the Carkol thread will outlive my sentiments here, but I did get a smile looking at this image, thinking about allllllll those many ‘mons over the years that I got to see chosen, and hoped to share that smile with you. It's like a very outdated /vp/-wide Nobody's Favorite Pokémon Pokédex??
Look, I don't know what the fuck drove me to do this, but the point is that if I had kept keeping track these last four years, there wouldn’t be a single one of these Pokémon left behind. Love you guys and never change
Floatzel is 100% my bro, so you can go ahead and remove him :)
I'm noticing a trend with the fire type starters.
A shame that no one called Zwelious, they're the coolest to me. Not necessarily my bro personally, but they're pretty damn cool, as one of the very few cases of a two headed Pokemon, and evolving into a sick hydra.
>>58009611 (OP)>aggron somehow on the "hasn't been listed as someone's favorite" listhow long have you been sleeping on the job
>>58009633I didn’t count any “Favorites of Each Type” threads or anything like that. I only counted instances where people chose one singular Pokémon as their “bro/favorite”.
I suppose I should say, I also counted Shouldermon threads, not sure if we have those anymore
>>58009633>>58009887I should also mention, I removed Megas separately from their base forms. So Aggron was totally claimed, only Mega Aggron wasn’t. Same goes for Medicham, Gengar, Gyarados… I thought that was obvious
>>58009633that's mega aggron, aggron isn't there
the most surprising for me is charmander
>>58009892the amount of people who specifically only like one mon's mega form or their base form (and not both or neither) is a statistically irrelevant number
Where's bear cub? There's no way someone actually mentioned Weakto's weakest babymon, let alone liking it.
>>58009944Data collection is not concerned with outside relevance.
>>58009611 (OP)> HuntailI know you're wrong here.
There was a thread about drawing your favorite pokemon and someone draw huntail.
I remember this because I remember saying, "There's no way your favorite pokemon is Huntail".
>>58009629Wtf, Hakamo-o is my favourite of its evo line :(
binaclebros.... we've restored the balance...
I will state, for the record, that Ferrothorn is my bro. He is not my favourite, but Ferrothorn has never let me down. I trust him.
>>58009611 (OP)I’ve literally seen a drawfag here make art of Floatzel in the middle of a thread once or twice
>>58009611 (OP)Does any entire line count? Beedrill is my top 1 but I love Weedle, Kakuna, and Beedrill all the same.
>>58010572Fug, missed the last point. Someone claim these two, they're all perfect.
>>58010583You're talking about Kris? She's also the least popular Protag, at least according to Rule34.

>>58009611 (OP)holy mother of giga autism
we need more of these autists and less coomoids on this board
>>58011383what if there was a giga autist coomer that did this with people's pokemon waifus/husbandos
>>58011009Trend was a strong word in hindsight.
Note the Emboar and Charizard lines though.
Also, though not apart of what I noticed, Combusken is there too. Of all the Pokemon, the fire type starter lines were the least likely to be picked in their entirety. Feraligatr, Marshtomp, and Servine are the only other outliers, unless I'm missing something when I scan the rest...
>>58010583weedle is pretty much the average showderp poster's favorite pokemon
and showderp has been going on for probably a decade at this point
i have no idea why it's not on the checklist
>>58009629Proof no one actually gives a fuck about Torracat
We literally had a favorite pokemon poll in 2019 before SWSH unironically ruined the series

>>58011411Interesting how much of this data aligns with OP’s. Clearly Gen 2 is actually one of the most beloved gens in both cases. Also see how some of the most popular Pokémon tend to leave their preevolutions with nobody to claim them, like Charizard and Garchomp have.
This is especially compelling considering OP’s data stopped being collected in the same year that this survey was taken. In fact, if we cross reference this data with OP’s, we see there are plenty more Pokémon that have been claimed.
>>58012458>Also see how some of the most popular Pokémon tend to leave their preevolutions with nobody to claim them, like Charizard and Garchomp have.To be fair, they are competing with other stages in their evolutionary line, and this holds true with really any "what's your favorite pokemon" poll/list/etc, even if a lot of people tend to like other stages of a given line too
If you were to actually cut out entire lines that had at least one of their members selected as a favorite, leaving just lines that no one picked any members from as their favorite, you'd have a far shorter list

>>58012519> If you were to actually cut out entire lines that had at least one of their members selected as a favorite, leaving just lines that no one picked any members from as their favorite, you’d have a far shorter listWell, let’s see.
Cross-referencing both the poll and OP’s findings and doing it this way leaves us with:
>Luvdisc>Frillish line>Throh>Thundurus>Tornadus>Volcanion>Hoopa>Tapu FiniAnd Zacian/Zamazenta, even though OP’s list doesn’t go up to Gen 8. But that’s literally it.
You were right, anon. That saved every single Pokémon family except the Frillish line. Poor bastards.
>>58012548Going over it again, there is one more line I missed; in both cases, not a single person chose Hippopotas or Hippowdown. I guess those guys and Frillish/Jellicent are the two least popular Pokémon families ever. Personally, I’d have guessed Finneon/Lumineon.
>>58009611 (OP)It's weird that megas are here, i feel that picking the base form of Pokémon should count as picking any Mega/power up form they have since its a temporarily form.
>>58009944>Weaktojust because they aren't given golden parachute shill buffs every three seconds like KANTOOOOOOOOOOOOmons doesn't make them weak anon
>>58012458>>58011411>poll is from before Gen 8 >Gen 2's dex is shown be to highly liked by fans this confirms or at least heavily supports , that the only reason Gen 2 Pokemon are "hated" now is because of shills throwing Gen 2 under the bus to use as as a scapegoat for the newer games' flaws, especially SwSh's

>>58012586I'll admit it's not my Favorite favorite, but lumineon has had a spot on my bromon team since its introduction and the only time I pass on an opportunity to use it is when it's my first time playing a new gen and I wanna use new pokemon only.
>>58009611 (OP)So OP, you're telling me nobody has Groudon as their bro? That's insane.

>>58009611 (OP)>>58009629Very interesting OP
I may not know what compelled you to do this so diligently for years but I appreciate the autism
Some are pretty surprising like paras or cofagrigus. I kind of figured those were popular (relatively). I'll add my two cents and say mega chomp is among my favorites at least.
>>58011411I notice the gen ratios are similar to the ones of my own favorites too. Weighted towards 2 and 4 with 3 and 1 not far behind. Truly the best gens

>>58014995>fine sleuthwork*Sloppy sleuthwork. Some of the earliest posts ITT note that he slept on the job many times. I have been posting on /vp/ regularly since 2010 and yet he somehow never saw me mention that Noctowl is my bro.
>>58012586I kinda like Hippowdon because it's kinda cute and has great bulk + the ability to setup sandstorm automatically
also has the distinction of being the only ground type with sand stream, for some reason
i definitely like it but there's a lot of stuff in my personal top 50 that it'd have to compete with
A lot more legendary Pokemon on that list than expected. Surprised no one likes hippo or ghost jelly. They have unique designs, good stats and are inoffensive. Not shillmon level but you'd think they'd appeal to someone.
Not surprised to see some megas left out. Who would choose Mega Heracross over the original? I think the mega is neat but regular Heracross is just such a perfect design.
