There is no point in a Battle Royal since there is no character to cheer for, not to mention we will know the MC will succeed because they are the protagonist and new protagonists are entitled to get everything handed to them because they are protagonist in the current anime formula.

The show just doesn't have enough levity, everyone is too serious all the time and all their interactions mostly have to do with the story, so you get episodes where they just talk to each other and plot dump early on. When it's not that, everyone is just kind of...nice to each other, I guess? There's not really anything there between most of the cast, which is an acomplishment since there's so many of them. There's a reason the villain brat girl is well liked, because coomer bait aside, she's actually entertaining and has a bit of bite to her character.


Also the pokemon themselves are largely forgettable because they refused to do anything with any of them minus the starters for most of the run. Let's face it, the only one people really talk about is Meowscarada, even the the piss shilldog is a complete flop.

They need to change genres, how they produce and market the franchise and, most impotrtantly, start giving a fuck aboyut people aged 13 and older as something more than just a means to getting more money somehow.

This is because the Pokemon anime has to consider its media for a global audience, including the most pussyfooted of nations who can't handle cartoon violence. That's why everything is just energy constructs and explosions without actually showing the Pokemon being visibly hurt, they just "get tired" eventually and fall over. Even the classic swirly eyes are "too much" these days because it implies the injuries were too much that it literally knocked them into a daze.
