Reminder, it was going to get a Fire/Ground Mega but then GameFreak realized that would give it an edge against CHARIZARD, so they made the Teraleak and included the Typhlosion Rape Story to make it controversial enough that it had to be replaced with another starter in LZA, taking advantage of the Switch 2 delay to swap out accordingly.

Typhlosion was too organically popular for Game Freak to know what to do with. A Mega Typhlosion would have completely toppled the shillmon order so it can never existt.
