It’s not the design. It’s wrong that it’s a Mega instead of a regional evolution.

People wanted this for how long? Now they gave it to you… but it’s still just a temporary form of the same Dragonite that everyone thought made no sense evolving from Dragonair, instead of being a replacement Dragonite that made sense evolving from Dragonair. This doesn’t fix the design issue that irked people, it just magnifies it.

Whet it was revealed with picrel official art and the in game stance that makes it look like a traffic cone, I hated it.

Over time I played gen 3 romhacks where they added every Pokemon and I started playing with Delphox as a starter, because I had recently watched the XYZ anime and Fennekin was presented as a random starter option in the romhack I was playing. I noticed hey you know what? Delphox doesn't look bad, it's just that the company that produced it doesn't know what to do with it.

Over more time I eventually found fan art and the rest is history. Delphox is my absolute favorite Pokemon and it took a long time for me to get there because fucking Gamefreak doesn't know how to present it well.

In fact A LOT of 3d-native pokemon suffered from this. There were some pixelart wizards doing wonders but there were also people just pixelating the 3d poses which made stuff like gourgeist and bunnelby (to name what comes to mind) look atrocious

We need to address the indian elephant in the room: How the fuck do you balance this giant goofy winged dino without it becoming the second coming of Mega Fug given its typing, moveset and also Dragon Dance allowing it to have one up on Mega Garchomp? Making it dragon/fairy while fitting, would've been overkill. Unlike Altaria, dragonite doesn't have base stat total of 490. Also Altaria's stats were distributed rather evenly across it's attack defense and special attack. While we don't know what Mega-Dragonites 100 stat points are going to be allocated towards. I guarantee you it's going to be min-maxed to hell and back. I bet my non-existent girlfriends life on it.
