Honestly I would recommend you buy 2 of the Japanese box of Terastal Fest. Cheap and a ton of hits for opening fun. This was the first box of Pokemon cards I opened all year long because of the fucked up pricing and availability. Most of the collectors from two years ago are out of the hobby, mostly just spectators at this point.
A lot of new people in the hobby now, the guys from two years ago are more and more selective of what and when they buy.
Its truly only suckers buying up product now. Luckily for them theres A LOT of suckers in the market now so its got its own self sustaining sucker economy. Dont get caught up in the sucker economy.

yeah this. They may also take out cards from the JP set and have it as a promo for English. The biggest example of this is the three og Eevees that should have been in our Eevee set (evolving skies). The special art V's and VMAX's were originally in Eevee Heroes(JP eevee set), but taken out and put into promo boxes for us. Pic rel. My guess is they didn't want to bloat the set any further since that set was already huge

I've all of Base, Jungle, Fossil, Rocket, half of Gym 1, and most of the promos from about 1997 to 2000 in good condition. Only one of each, it's a collection. Articuno holo from Fossil is missing, I assume it was stolen like 25 years ago but I've no clue.

Don't do that. Take the pages out ant put them somewhere safe. Only use modern binders without rings and loading from the side, those with zippers.
Rings will dent your cards and dust will get inside the pockets.

Sadly I started collecting after they reduced the sizes but I got most of them in two Celebration binders. I did manage to get the Zacian and Zamazenta V old size jumbos from their boxes though and the crystal ho-oh box topper.

Either you buy cards for collecting or for investing.
For collecting it makes no sense to grade.
For investing you want to maximize your potential gains, and that means grading with PSA or buying PSA because that's what people want, regardless of the quality of the grading in and of itself.
