I've been saying that the new player experience is overwhelming and awful. But the banners aren't even at its worst. There's pretty much only 2 banners right now that matter. If you started around an anniversary there would be 20 all at once. I remember starting a new account to get referral gems and it's so genuinely dreadful I'm surprised if people stick with it. It doesn't guide people that they should be immediately doing the main story and legendary adventures for free units. Way too much upgrade shit all over the place. My account is old enough that I never have to think about it again but I can see it being overwhelming when you don't have anything. They should also just make rerolling easier and less tedious so you don't feel tempted to buy an account with gems in it.

I started playing pretty much 1 year ago and yeah it was fucking miserable. I couldn't even beat CS the first month because it was fucking Sinnoh league. Which also locked me out of Rally (for whatever fucking reason), which means I also couldn't get roll cake coins and other resources. It's fucking brutal.

At least they made it so you can always fully upgrade the villain arc sync pairs now. Absolutely retarded how they locked that behind rerun events, and then reran one of them every other month.

The worst part is it's pretty much impossible to catch up and get even the oldest limited units. That's a consistent problem with the game. I'm a day one player and it feels like I get jack shit units per year and I pretty much never see a character I missed or skipped ever again. I remember having a conversation with a whale here that got disillusioned by how impossible of a task it was to get minimum 1 of every unit even with money. And that was before Arc Suits. The whale micro e-celebs either quit or are begging for death. I think it's a huge problem that new players can't build a collection better because they can't participate in content the game keeps trying to force people into like legendary gauntlet and high score events. They can't and don't contribute to gym scores so no one would ever want to let them into a gym. The game keeps forcing end game for whales and doesn't at all bother to foster new players and then wonders why there aren't any.

Every week the Champion Stadium game mode resets and people try to clear Champion Stadium Masters Mode with 15k points (3000 points for each stage the Elite Four + Champion) with their favorite sync pairs/characters. Masters Mode is unlocked once you beaten Champion Stadium once for that region (got all the types for the medal, which will take about 2 weeks if done in an optimum manner). Masters Mode is where you deliberately handicap your team to get more points in the Champion Stadium and in turn get the maximum amount of rewards when clearing it.

People then post their clears here to show off and they are compiled into a chart to show which Sync Pair or character has been used the most during that week.

Generally the sparkly banners with 1% rates are the most powerful ones. If you rerolled for Ethan you probably would have been set but I guess you don't have to if you don't want to. That's fair. Just know that you're pretty much never going to get old units without money. So from a gameplay perspective I can't recommend it at all. Story wise it's okay I guess the game doesn't try to gatekeep that from new players. I originally joined for the official fanfiction aspect of it but don't expect anything too deep. You were better off staying quit than coming back. The game has only gotten greedier and more desperate, and is on its last legs. Coming back now is just coming back to suffer at the worst time. Between Arc scam and Superawakened scam and 5/5 MFs and 1% banner spam and low gem count and low custom outfit production they are just trying to do whatever last minute squeezes they can get away with. A bunch of people quit playing in the last year. Even one of the producers abandoned the game last year. Any kind of regret over quitting is just blissful ignorance from the nonsense they've been doing with the game while you were away.

I quitted during a 2 years period and I only regret missing out Jessie/James in a month I skipped before that. Even if they are trash units.
