The only characters I know are Ash, Brock, Misty, Nurse Joy, Officer Jenny, Jesse, James, Professor Oak, and Giovanni.

Leon became my favorite champion. Sonia became best girl. Gloria, Marnie, Nessa, Raihan, Kabu, Oleana, and Piers are all nice. Bede was a welcome revival of the asshole rival.
Aside from SwSh, Adaman and Irida were great. I also liked Kamado, he looked cool. So Gen 8 had a ton of memorable characters.
