it seems like all of the traditionally 'boy' characters are slowly getting replaced by androgynous and femboys

seemed like a lot of the scarlet/violet npcs were completely subverted. the 'dude' looking ones were women, the feminine ones were males

what is going on?

(yes i know one of these is a digimon protag, but im just kind of confused how the same type of design seems to keep popping up everywhere) the design is actually kind of unsettling. are they supposed to be girls cosplaying as guys? my radar doesnt register them as men
