I thought I was always neutral to positive on the Unova mons, but I was doing the complete Pokedex in order on Pokemon Smash or Pass today and only just realized how goddamn many Unova mons there are and also how many I'd completely forgotten about until now. Feels like they kinda overstuffed the dex that generation

I would say a good chunk of those mons already existed. A lot of them could be found in places that you didn't visit during the main story, or even at all in BW, plus some were fishing exclusive, which wasn't available until post game.

Combine that with species migrating or being introduced and the various tunnels and caves that have since been discovered or developed.

I feel like new dexs (primarily gen 6) just rely too much on old gen pokemon to fill dex slots to a point that original pokemon become a rarity. And there is barely any continuity with whats gets picked for new dexs, you'd figure they would give lesser used pokemon from the previous generation a chance in the next gen with better availability (Like Hoenn with mons like Slugma and Skarmory) or in some cases an evolution but they just mostly seem to fall back on the same pokemon to fill the same slots in the dex. Powercreep doesn't help this because they usually pick Gen 1 shitmons that are completely outclassed.

This is the best Pokédex to never exist.
It's Kanto, of course it is, as we know all generations following Kanto are just highly derivative variations of Kanto's perfect model.
However in this instance we've retconned the Pokédex from 151 to a clean 170 by adding the 19 generation 2 evolution family members. This is basically what Fire Red & Leaf Green's Pokédex should had been. In effect its Kanto's Pokédex in generation 3. Or a generation 1.5 or 1½ Pokédex. Its incredibly based and red pilled.
