As far as the artstyle goes I think they should have kept the outlines and more simple shading of the 3ds era and if they are going to do realistic lighting the textures in scarlet and violet look better. The lack of textures and more realistic lighting leaves everything looking plastic. Beyond that minor personal preference though I would agree these games look like some of the better modern pokemon games so far. Plus the characters looking older and having customization options outside of school uniforms is definitely a bonus. I wouldn't mind some facial hair options but this definitely is more like what I wanted.
