I use Parasect pretty frequently.

I always use Farfetch'd, and in the Kanto games I even gen my starter into one, since I don't like nicknames.

I tried parasect once and it was always fainting and falling behind so it was relegated to cut/catch bitch by Celadon. Farfetch'd actually rocks and I'm convinced people who say otherwise spend more time looking at stats than playing. Tangela's tanky and gets poisonpowder+wrap, it just comes a bit late.
I'll definitely use the other three for a playthrough some day but I did just finish preparing a Poké Cup Lickitung.

The problem with 4/6 of these is, you get them so late on your playthrough.
Paras is actually really good once it evolves. Spore, Swords Dance, Leech Life, Slash. Or go the Special route and do Growth + Mega Drain. Far-fetched is good enough for midgame. Tangela isn't bad at all but who is going to wait until the sixth or seventh gym to pick up their team's Grass-type?

I used Seel it's good. Its main issue is Lapras is easier to get and you get it before Seel to really justify using it. Lickitung is mediocre but Normal STAB is valuable. Tangela is just way too late to be worthwhile, there's too many Water types to want to use Goldeen

Dux and Paras are just objective HM slaves

I think some Gen 1 Pokémon could be "modernized" without giving them new evolutions or forms and Goldeen and Seaking are one of them. It would be great if there was a variety of color patterns, maybe some more pronounced gender differences. That alone would make the line more fun. Seaking especially does feel it's missing 'something' but I'm not sure what small change to its design would please the most Seaking fans

something that kinda bugs me about gen one is that they give you eevee after the 3rd gym, then you get lapras and snorlax just a couple gyms later. with an eeveelution, lapras, snorlax, and your starter, you don't even need anything else. those 4 are plenty to beat the game with.

I've used 4/6 of them in playthroughs though.
Goldeen is lame though and Seal is alwyas too late in the game, and also Lapras is cooler and stronger.
Parasect is my go to mon for catching pokemon. Spore + false swipe is too good

I've used Dux and Ch'Ding and I thibk i used Dewgong once but the rest of the duds never. I do like Tangrowth though, not Tangela

Crit builds are fun. Has a Galarian form and that has an evolution.

It and Dewgong have no identity. Lapras does what they can do better, they're obtained really late, and later on the Spheal line both does what they do better AND claims their identity as the notable Water/Ice seal line. Give them a signature move, or another evolution.

Gets an evolution in Lickilicky.

Again, no identity. It's the Finneon/Lumineon of gen 1, a couple of goldfish/koi that have no real point beyond memes.

Gets an evolution in Tangrowth.

One of the coveted Spore users, and one that can use False Swipe too. Use some X Speeds in battle to shore up Parasect's piss-poor Speed stat and you've got a decent catcher.

I did use Dewgong cuase the once I caught had either Ice beam or Aurora Beam
Which I thought was neat.

I used seaking in yellow, that thing had a fucking signature move.

I use the hell out of Parasect, he’s my favorite genwun grass guy. I have an unexplainable fondness for Dugong as well even though it’s heavily outclassed. I just like genwun ice types, they’re all cool.

Goldeen should have been available from using the Old Rod. Maybe at a 10 or 15% encounter rate. That would have immensely improved its usage numbers. You're stuck for the longest time with the Old Rod and then you get the Good and Super Rods almost simultaneously.

I liked using Farfetch'd and Paras when I was a kid. I thought they were cool. Farfetch'd was meh in gameplay. Paras wasn't horrible, but there were way better options. Disappointing thing about Paras/Parasect was that it seemed good on paper, but didn't quite translate into gameplay.

That's the fun thing about Gen 1. There were multiple viable paths to beat the game. I just was just a dumbass kid and went with what I thought was cool.

Used a Seel/Dewgong and cant lie, its pretty good. Parasect on a monobug run was also kinda nice, but its too slow sadly.

Dewgong gets an interesting thing with Hydration in gen 4, letting it instantly recover from Rest so long as rain is up. Of course Lapras also gets that as its hidden ability the very next gen, and has mildly better stats to boot.

I love Parasect and Tangela, I use them all the time. I literally always use Beedrill since it's my top 1, shitmon are the norm for me.

Already used tangela in a FRLG nuzlocke. Good in sunny day (thanks magmar) with solar beam plus giga drain.He's def one of my favorite mons design wise.

the pokemon you trade for it is technically better, but near-100% crit slash-spam might be fun. the base stats make it fall off FAST.

way too late. by the time you get to seafoam islands, you have tons of water-type options.

a very late in-game trade in which you trade a very useful slowbro for a relatively useless mono-normal who is neither a tank or a sweeper.

too late. it's too rare in the safari zone and by the time you get it under pallet town: it's not useful at all. mono-grass is ass, it's stats are ass, it's movepool is ass.

too rare. I'm much more likely to encounter geodude or zubat first. by the time you reach the safari zone, there's no use for the thing.

I've already used two.

Tangela can be terrifying. Sleep Powder helps you set up Growth boosting its already high Special stat. In single player, you get the badge boost glitch on top of that until you level up. Even an otherwise weak move like Mega Drain can be devastating and give you longevity.

My team of meta mons was swept by an early Fisherman battle in the Emerald Battle Tower, it took him 1 Agility and 3 Horn Drill, just 4 turns to win. I remember the nightmare OHKO specialized trainers can be in battle facilities.

Used Goldeen/Seaking in ORAS (which being post physical/special attack split is against the spirit here) and it held on until the E4 rematches. I'd call that a win.

Tangela/Tangrowth is so much better than Budew/Roselia/Roserade in Platinum it’s not even funny. There’s nothing you need to use Budew for before you get to the water gym town anyway, since all starters are super effective against rock types and you don’t fight any noteworthy water types before Pastoria and its surrounding area.

Not him but Kadabra is an amazing mon honestly, the stat spread of the line is just really solid in general. Abra is amazing in little cup and Alakazam was a staple of OU for several gens. In Stadium rentals only Kadabra is god tier.
