According to the leaks and all the buildup with the pokefucking myths that were being written around the time of late gen 3 and early gen 4's development, it seems what was going to happen was N was meant to be a half Pokemon half human abomination that completely fucked with the natural order of the world.
Ghetsis seemed to be less of a megalomaniac and more of a genuinely deluded schizo who thought what he was doing what was necessary for the world.

It happened fairly early during the leaks when gen 5 was decompiled and anons found that gen 5 originally had a fair bit of different dialogue that showed things were very different once translated, I don't have the leaked builds or screenshots of all the dialogue anymore due to there just being way too much shit I couldn't save on all my drives.
Here's the link to the leaks threads at least, it should be somewhere around the first 20 ones or so, just look for the early gen 5 builds and that's around the point you'll see the translations the gen 5 story pre-changes.

People bring this up as a slight but it actually ends up setting up the divide between the Team Plasma members who in on the con and the ones who think they're legitimately helping Pokemon via N's ideals. You get nice little nuggets of it during post-battle dialog.
