In the anime it was worse, they gave her character arc to an OC. Korrina should have been the character who introduced us to the Mega Evolutions, traveling and learning from each one of them, and even having a team with Mega Fighting Pokemon at the end and having to learn to adapt to each change. For example, an M-Blaziken struggling with its speed boost, an M-Medicham not knowing how to handle its extra "arms," an M-Lopunny struggling to adapt to its new dual type, and an M-Heracross only charging head-on.

"But you can only have one Mega Pokemon" I'm not saying she uses them all at the same time, but rather giving each Mega Evolution a mini-arc with its pros and cons. Plus, her grandfather has an M-Lucario, an M-Blaziken, and an M-Alakazam, which is why he's the Mega Evolution guru.

Joking aside, I can't think of another reason. They just wanted to reuse Lysandre. As one anon said, "I still hold out hope that the plot revolves around time travel." That would explain the limited locations. They would reuse Lumiose, but in different historical periods.

I know it's unrealistic, but you have to hold on to something, otherwise it'll just be a boring Detective Pikachu with battles.

While she isn't as bad as the weekly NPC, Korrina's episode sucks.
She is supposed to show you all about Megas, but in the anime they make her a dumb newbie who got a Mega way too early and can't control it.
Also, the episode is a whole nothingburger: just floral etiquette, but somehow she doesn't do it correctly when everyone did it right (this is worst when you realize she did it better than the rest). The whole episode is just "boo, I can put a plant in a pot", also the one that she needed was in an (unnecessarily) dangerous cliff where her Lucario almost dies.
Cue mandatory Rocket cameo, she put a SINGLE plant in a pot: boom, she can control megas now.

Korrina, I want to love you, but no, I can't. Sorry.

Also, she is a white girl, and for all I know she will cuck me with shillcario, so fuck her.

Lillie is a cunny version of N, the third iteration of Yancy and almost the protagonist of her game
Korrina is a gym leader in a game that had no 3rd version
They just don't belong to the same astral plane of relevancy
She can thank the battle gimmick and Lucario, without these she would have done worse. She wouldn't have been seen as a potential champion for a Z game, and we likely wouldn't be talking about her right now

It would have been more interesting if the reason she was a bad trainer was because she spent more time on Roller Derby than practicing with her Pokémon. This would have created conflict with her grandfather, who wants her to continue the tradition of being Mega Evolution experts, and Korrina's dream of being a famous athlete.

Also, seeing humans and Pokémon compete in a version of Motor Ball or Roller Ball would have been so cool.
