Not a genwar thread btw. Just trying to what gen most here prefer. Mine are 2 and 5. 2 because Johto has the best lore, region design and overall great Pokemon. 5 because it has most of my favorite Pokemon and I like the futuristic feel of Unova.

Having a hard time choosing between 3, 4 and 5. Each one of them has their good points and issues. 2 is close but even though the lore is great, the actual storyline and the weird level curve aren't. Gen 7 isn't far behind as well.
When someone talks about the "peak of pokemon", I usually think of these 3 generations. I don't dislike the others but they don't feel as great. XY feels a bit rushed and both SwSh and SV big areas feel very empty.

Hoenn. I started with Emerald, so I'm biased.
That being said, DS/Sinnova era was the best in terms of gameplay, completion and feeling. I wish I could go back in time just to play Platinum and Black 2 for the first time again.
Everything that came after the DS was so ambitious and wanted to have the same amount of effort and content, but the sudden jump to 3D caused way more problems than solutions, and it just kept getting more and more wasted because of overconfidence, mismanagement, laziness, circumstance or downright incompetence. I hope the Gen 10 leaks are real, I just want one normal game again. I want to be excited, but it's all so tiresome.

On a personal level my favorite is gen 1 but that’s largely nostalgia.

For the games I’d rank gen 5 as the best.

Oddly enough my favorite region is Hoenn which doesn’t belong to any of these gens.

Mine would be Gen 3, specifically Emerald. I started with Sapphire, but even back then I had much more attachment to Rayquaza (plus green was my favorite color). Obviously there's a lot of personal bias involved, but the entire series of Gen 1-5 mainline games have all been good or great.

i think he's talking about them allegedly splitting development and restructuring to make the mainline games expansive and not rushed for once
real or not knowing them they'll still find a way to fuck something up and make everyone angry again anyways
