BW. red and blue are so braindead easy that it gets boring after a while. >but BW are easy too!
i promise you, no matter how easy you think BW are, RB are even easier.

One doesn't waste your time with a nonsensical worthless story every 15 minutes. Nor does it force you to look at abominations just as frequently.

Even before release? That's awesome, it's like some prophecy! I wish I had that level of autism to have a pair of games live rent free inside my mind, even my favorites (gen 3 if you're curious) don't get that much attention from me. Good luck on your crusade against black and white.

I would rather play BW if only because RB are buggy unfinished trash missing so many QoL features and with move pools so shallow all the pokemon in the game are going to know the same 4 moves by the end of it.
The older I get the more Gen I feel like the only fun games to replay because they don't have frustrating Masudaisms that objectively held the games back
I think Kanto and its dex are the best personally but none of the three official versions are ideal. I'm still waiting for the "The One" gen 1 romhack but it will probably be the best to me.
Depends on what you want. The Gen 1 games barely work on any level but if you just want a run through the campaign the only other really good option is RSE. BW has a bit more interesting stuff going on in general and a better overall Pokemon distribution but it's not a like the huge power gap between RB being a little scuffed and DP's absolutely dogshit dex. If I didn't have anything in mind RB is the easy choice but if I had any plan at all BW would be fine.

It's the version I usually play, but it's far from ideal. I still do think it's a solid game but it lacks too much QoL to be called the best. Needing hm slaves or having to waste slots on them fucking sucks.
Both are honestly good for different reasons.
It's fun to make genwun bug out and the sprites are pure soul. BW is kinda just a good game, it's only problem is that it takes a few gyms to really get going.

You don't like having to redo the starter type triangle with the first gym? I found the tutorial battle confusing so I really needed the extra handholding

there will never be a "definitive" kanto game because the more you try to polish it, the less it will feel like kanto. kanto should be grimy and shady, but pokemon left that aesthetic back in the 90s and it's not going back.
kanto now exists purely as an idea. red and blue are games that everyone loves but nobody plays.
