If Porygon Z had its typing changed to reflect its buggy nature, should it be

x/Bug (Computer bug)
or
x/Poison (Computer virus)
Anonymous No.58104857 >>58104869
Porygon back in gen 1 should have been the only digital type pokemon. Just like Gengar and Dragonite were the only ghost and dragon type back then.
Then they should have introduced a few more digital type mons, but very few.

Electric

You can imagine the x as electric now focus on the question at hand

I used to lean towards that idea and maybe having Digital function as a true neutral type unique to Porygon, but it just didn't seem interesting. And data is just electricity so I think an Electric type for the Porygon family works fine. I'm pretty sure they only gave it Normal due to Conversion anyways which still works fine as Electric.

It's not like Japanese people can't go "hey, it's a pun that works in English. Let's make it happen"

The Porygon line, Castform, Kecleon, Ditto, and Type: Null should all be typeless.

Yeah him too. God shouldn't be normal, that doesn't make sense.

The Japanese word for computer bug is the same though

Dark. Computer viruses are not literally bugs nor are they poisonous in the biological sense that it's presented as, they are a form of corruption and sneakiness.

true, but the japanese word for regular bug is “mushi”

>data is just electricity
False. Data is a mathematical abstraction. Electrical charge on a capacitor is but one model for it.

The Porygon line has had 2 signature moves for 8 generations that are literally about changing its own type

It's funny how porygon actually looked like what most 3d graphics at the time looked like. They should have made it turn into a hologram or something in the later evos

They already are. Normal is all types and no types. That's why it's stupid to make Porygon anything else.

Except normal has a immunity, a weakness, and is resisted twice. Typeless would be neutral to everything.
