The one that ruined Pokemon forever was Gen 4 and it's not even close.

Almost any time there's a Pokemon that's broken to shit, 80% of the time it's because they're abusing a move or item or ability that game from Gen 4.

I agree with most of the rest of your post but what the fuck is overtuned about Lucario? It's a good Pokemon in gen 4 but it's not even close to overpowered.

To explain better, Gen 4 started the trend of giving a specific (non legendary) Pokemon special treatment in gameplay so people would want to use it, in Lucario's case it was with the unique typing, expansive movepool, free availability and "signature" move that had very limited distribution while the regular Pokemon had to scrape by with Focus Miss.

This was the very first form of what would later become our Protean Greninjas, Flower Trick Meowscaradas and Court Change Cinderaces. The Shillmon Effect (tm)
