>pick up Scarlet
What a shitshow. Just an objectively terrible games. I'm playing the 'improved' version on Switch 2 and it's still a damn slog.
It just beats you over the head with unskippable cutscenes and dialog boxes. EVERYTHING takes 10 times longer than it should.
I even hate trainer battles now. They're so easy I know I'm going to win, but I still have to:
>wait for Pokemon to load
>wait for trainer close up and dialog box
>wait to throw out pokemon
>wait for inevitable 'intimidate lowers attack' box
>GREAT, now I can select my move! Click A button twice!
>wait for opponent move
>wait for opponent move cut scene
>wait for stat drop notification
>my turn!
>wait for my move animation
>random pause while opponents pokemon de-loads
>wait for close up on NPC and dialog box
>wait for camera to reset
>for some reason off the fucking bike, so need to spawn that again
This slog is in every aspect of this game. Nothing is snappy. Nothing is responsive. It's constant waiting around and mashing A to just move on.
Hell, just trying to traverse the map is a chore because I keep stepping on lvl 5 bug pokemon, which loads a battle and see above.
You could legit beat 3+ gyms in Red version before getting out of the damn school tutorial in Scarlet.
But whatever, I beat the story, time to roam around and have 'fun.'
First, I want to reset the EV's on my current team but...
>need berries
>only found randomly on the map or buy from an auction
>only 7% chance of appearing at a random quantity at a random price
>need to reset the Switch's clock, reload, check again
>A berry is there!
>sit through auction cutscene with 20+ unskippable dialog boxes
>or buy the $25 DLC and play a shit mini game repeatedly
These new games are just slogs from beginning to end, and that's not even touching on how terrible the stories/characters are.
I'm out (again). Going to go back to playing Gold version
